    • I used to carry a Honda XR 650 on the back of my RV. I've since traded for a fuel injected bike for higher altitudes, a Kawasaki KL 650.  The Honda had no windshield. The Kawasaki, does but I installed an aftermarket higher one as seen in the pictures.  This past weekend here in Oregon, I was checking out a few museums and national monuments. While doing so, the KLR was on the back, in the sun. When I got home this morning and unloaded the Kawasaki, I noticed this spot on the dash just under the windshield. At first I thought something had gotten pulled up behind the rv and stuck between the windshield and the dash, but there are no marks on the windshield so that was not the case.  After some time thinking about it, I got to wondering if the shape of the windshield may have focused the sun light and melted this pattern.    What do you think? Could this be the case or....?
    • The closest I came to that combination was a Dodge Caravan pulling a small tent trailer. But it was nice to have the space in the back of the van for gear. I know lots of people who have pulled a "fiberglass egg" type trailer with a Chevy Suburban. That's a popular combination. Linda Sand
    • Look at Kirk's photos. How would you describe the steering wheel location in relation to the front axle?
    • I used to tow a 33' travel trailer with a 1 ton van...Ford E-350.  Mine had the 6.8L v10 gas engine.  Our trailer was heavier than what you are looking at, so you may not need quite a robust van as I had.  We also had significant passenger weight having 5 kids.  Anyways, we had a good sway control system with the Equilizer hitch, and the setup was very good IMO.  Rarely experienced any sway.  I would recommend the setup.  One consideration in the Ford...I'd recommend the 12 passenger rather than extended 15 passenger, as the extended van has a large overhang behind the rear axle.  The GM vans have a longer wheelbase in the longer vans if I remember right, but the Ford simply extends the box with the same wheelbase.  I was afraid that overhang might lead to sway issues.
    • It is an interesting comparison. Those are both 2023 models. Even the 1990 E-250 3M Co. cargo van that I drove did have the steering wheel behind the front axel.
