hemsteadc
I'm near Laughlin NV and the dang wind just will not stop blowing. Day after day, and now it's going to blow all night and tomorrow. A little respite would be nice, but I don't see that right now. You folks in Quartzsite are lucky to escape it.. at least from the weather reports I see. I don't come south for this!!! ARG! Thanks for listening. That is all. agesilaus
It seemed like last year was extra windy, it rarely let up. We didn't get our awning out until we got back to FL this fall.

At least I'm parallel to it instead of it hitting me broadside. And it's fairly warm. I was going to move to Las Vegas but it looks colder there. I've been in some Lake Mead winds that were absolutely terrifying. Fortunately I put the satellite dish on the leeward side. Danfreda1
We have had a lot of wind here for the last 5 weeks. The week after Christmas was over 20 mph mostly for a week. Had 2 shirts and a sweatshirt and a carhardt coat on to sit by the fire. Quartzite is supposed to be warmer than this

We're getting some really strong gusts today. Kicking up dust like crazy. Usually it's just steady and annoying but today it's fierce. Everything's going to be filthy. Maybe next year I'll forget this RV thing and fly to Hawaii. Edited January 27, 2022 by hemsteadc
Will B.
We felt that way during our month-long stay in Tularosa, NM. Wind....combined with what were, essentially, dust storms! TXiceman
Some places, the wind just blows. Be thankful it is not blowing snow. JimK
I guess I understand. You took an RV trip to get out in nature but now you don't like the weather. Sounds like it is time to move elsewhere.
RangeMaggotBob
Welcome to Laughlin. The wind pretty much never stops here. Especially this time of year. It can be un-Godly cold and windy in the winter, and just as miserable hot and windy in the summer. Seriously that's exactly what we've been discussing after looking at the weird weather fronts we've been witnessing the past few years. Trouble is we RV because I hate every aspect of flying - from being herded like cattle to get onto a cramped less seat space plane to lost luggage and not having my own bed and amenities close to hand like in an RV. In addition with today's main issue in the world, we're also not comfortable being enclosed with lots of others spreading lurgies! It's a doozie to find the right balance and timing eh? We only fly when we have no choice and have not done any of that since the covid-19 wars began. There was a time that flying was fun but I was younger than and seats & service were better. Of course, prices were higher as compared to most incomes back in those days too. I read recently that the average air fare in 1980 was $593.55 and in 2010 it had dropped to $337.93, or about 60% of what it was 30 years before. I wonder what that same ticket would cost today. It's been pretty quiet today so the cat and I are enjoying it. Next week isn't looking good so I think I'll head up to Henderson where it may be colder but not so windy. I do love this Big Bend of the Colorado campground. Edited January 29, 2022 by hemsteadc

We spent two weeks in Hawaii this fall in rental condos. Very nice, but everything is more expensive than on the mainland. If you can handle the budget, it is a great idea. Another choice is Mexico and you can drive and camp there. That seems scary to many.
