Freightliner and Peterbilt in Fontana. I guess the golf shirt crowd doesn't need to service their HDT's. Try the Ford dealer at Palm Springs Motors, they're claiming a commercial vehicle division.

ETA: Too far for me to travel over there to help with the battery swap.

I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again.

Looked on line and desert battery is listed as a battery supplier.  Mine are Deka but interstate also supplies a group 31 battery with center post on the ends.  I suspect that two 12 volts side by side would have the same dimensions from one brand to the next for a group 31.  Desert battery is located right off the 10 freeway but any interstate battery dealer that sell truck batteries should have or could get. That phone number is 760-346-3762

Well, I'm a bit confused now.  I thought weak batteries and voltage readings sort of went together..maybe not.

They've been holding 12.6-12.7 for several days now, but I still have the struggle when starting.  Can batteries show a good charge and hold one but still be weak?

You can have batteries that have the correct voltage but will not start your truck if the battery connections are corroded and or loose. If your batteries are reading 12.7 volts, check to see if all of the posts and connections are clean and tight. You will also need to check the connections at the ground where they occur.

batteries can show good voltage, or a surface charge, but still not have the amps to spin that starter.  The batteries are beginning to sulfate or short between the plates.   I have seen this personally, and I too was totally confused as to the condition you are describing.   You could have only one cell beginning to fail & the rest are good.  This will make  accessories that require 12 volt appear to work,  but really only the ones that require small amps properly work.    It takes a proper "load" test to determine the health of the batteries.  The batteries probably have to come out to do this test.

Since your batteries are difficult to reach I am only guessing that you are not adding distilled water on a regular basis?  Have you tested the acid with the floating balls menthod?  My guess is that the acid level is low and the plates have been damaged.  Terminals need some TLC, when replacing make sure to use plenty of dia-electric greese.  Your application is a good one for AMG type batteries, they need no water, well worth the money.
