Sparky242
Hi all I am finely getting an HDT after looking and learning for about 5 years. Its a 2000 Volvo VNL 610 with a Detroit Series 60 motor and a Eaton Fuller three petal Automatic. I bought it at an auction so information is limited, I pick it up on Monday. It has a owners manual that I have read cover to cover. I think I know enough about the operations to get it home (about 5 miles) it has been sitting for a few years and the fuel tanks have very little fuel in them. I want to stop on my way home and add some fuel so is there a switch to switch between the two tanks or a fuel line between them and any fuel I put in will equalize in both tanks. Thank You for your help ( I won the bid Friday night and I haven't slept since, better than Christmas when I was a kid) 2000 Volvo VNL 610 2011 Cedar Creek 36RE

tyates007
Congratulations. Fuel tanks are self leveling. There will not be a switch unless someone has put one in. Now the fun begins. How many miles are on the truck?
NeverEasy
Congratulations! Lots of information in the Heavy Haulers Resource Guide. Would recommend getting a good diesel fuel injector cleaner to add to that first fuel. I own an 01 with the same engine/transmission as you. Love it. Sparky242
It has 539,000 miles. I will add some fuel injector cleaner for sure. the truck needs new tires, some brake work and a complete interior, the previous owner gutted it out and then never finished the remodel I am very excited about fixing it up the way I want it. 2000 Volvo VNL 610 2011 Cedar Creek 36RE
tyates007
With that low of miles this should serve you for a long time. Having it gutted by the previous owner gives you a blank canvas. That is something most of us have to work to get to before we start the remodel. Lots of folks here that will help you with ideas and spending your money. Have fun. adept99
Welcome to the Dark Side... If you have time, try to pick up the appropriate fuel filters before you try to drive the truck. Get a phone # for a diesel shop/tow operator and, without changing the filters, drive the truck home. Filters are not hard to change but if you do plug one up before you get home, then all you need is the mechanic for a road call and you'll already have the filters. DON'T tow the truck without disconnecting the driveshaft, less than a mile will toast the transmission. If you need some additional help, send me a pm with a phone # and I'll see what I can do. Sparky242
Thank You all for the advice. Picked it up today and drove it enough to see that everything seems to work like it should. ( about 30 miles) by the time I got home one of the tires had gone flat, Date code on the tires is 2006 so new tires will be one of the very first things I need to do. very fun to drive, huge smile the whole time 2000 Volvo VNL 610 2011 Cedar Creek 36RE
