I just bought an Instant Pot and wanted to know if anyone had some great recipes?  I did pulled pork in it and it was AWESOME!  I just used water, liquid smoke and some Sweet Baby Rays.

Please post up some good recipes.

Thanks

I've never used one, but my son and his wife have had theirs for a year and a half or so and absolutely love it. Along with the instant pot I also gave them this cookbook that they use at least weekly. They do cakes, casseroles, bread stuffs and such in it as well as just the standard one pot meals. Looks like you can get the book now for free with kindle unlimited.

I'll have to ask if they have any particular favorites.

I have made pulled pork, pot roast, stew, beef tips, spaghetti(one pot version), sweet and sour chicken. I find it more convenient than the slow cooker since it is faster. Also, no preplanning. With a slow cooker I would set it up before we left for the day(delay start) but that would requ9re us to be home for a meal by a certain time. With the pressure cooker I can wait to see if we come home or eat out. I did buy the coated liner for easier cleanup.

Just look up recipes on the internet.

Still in the learning stage, I want to try a recipe I have for Carabbas Lentil Soup that I always made in the slow cooker.

The one thing I miss is the aroma of the food cooking and, having had an old pressure cooker that made noise when it was working, I am still disconcerted by the quiet of the electric pressure cooker.

While the pressure cooker saves time I need to remember to add in the time it take to get up to pressure.

Yes to the meatloaf.  I live alone, don't like to go out alone to eat and don't like prepared dinners (TV Dinner type).  Problem is I often forget until afternoon to plan my evening meal and meat (chicken, pork or beef roasts, baby backs etc) are frozen and there isn't sufficient time to thaw.

I've had my IP for 2+ years now and it has changed my food life.  It basically doesn't matter, in terms of time, if you pressure cook from frozen or thawed so long as you've done things like cleaning (chicken) or cutting into IP sized pieces before you freeze. So when I buy a beef/pork roast or ribs or a chicken, I take the time to repackage meal sized pieces before freezing.  So if it's 4 or even 5 pm before I think of dinner prep, I can take out some frozen ribs, season them frozen and have fall off the bone ribs, as good or better than if I slow cook them on my grill, in less than an hour.  It's a great vehicle also for a quick one pot meal.  Things like pea soup (which generally require hours or even overnight soaking - i.e. preplanning, can be finished from first prep to table in 40 min or less including most of that time spent relaxing.  And it's so easy to use even with the genset, on the MH.

I have a few cookbooks but don't use them.  When I want to make X, I just google "Instant Pot X" and get dozens of X specific recipes to pick from.  I make meatloaf often (have to use thawed ground chuck to mix) but I doubt I've ever used the same recipe twice.  Luv to experiment.  IP has been a real enhancement to my lifestyle.

Pretty soon you will be able to buy it retail in convenient locations on the Canada portion of your trip to Alaska. It’ll be ready to serve. :)

Has anyone tried their IP as a slow cooker???

We have. It didn’t work very well with the regular lid but we bought the glass lid and tried it again and were very pleased with the results. We’ve used it as a slow cooker several times since. You definitely need to allow the full time required.

Thanks for the input everyone.  I’m in my 40s and proficient in using “Google” and several other search engines, not excluding Facebook and Pinterest.  My thought was for everyone to post up recipes that you have:

1.Tried out

2. Was awesome

3. Had a link to share for other people to try it

example - https://ourbestbites.com/pressure-cooker-chili-lime-chicken/

this is one of 30ish recipes that I have “Googled” and saved.  I have not tried it yet,so I can not tell you it was Awesome.

So sorry for the confusion and misunderstanding of what I was looking for.

No plans to go to Alaska yet, but it is on my bucket list.  I do not need to buy one as I have purchased the Duo 60 already.  It has served and plan on it serving a lot more.  Do you have me confused with another person?

OK. I  have pulled my IP recipes that I have used. I am a Googler at heart and continue to look for recipes to make my life easier. I currently carry the IP and the slow cooker, I am going to drop off(we have an S&B) the slow cooker and add my food processor.

I don't get to cook too often, we are with the grandkids for the winter and life is very choppy time wise, planning is difficult.

I just read that I can "boil" the potatoes for mashed potatoes in the slow cooker. Will try that next year for Thanksgiving. Logts of recipes I want to try and once we start traveling again I should have the chance. For now here is a  list of recipes I have used, with comments.

If these links don't work let me know. I guess I need to post before I can test the links.

I am not sure which of these shredded chicken recipes I used, I would think Pioneer Woman, I like her recipes.

DH(in charge of shredding) loved this recipe, said it was the best he ever shredded. I would pressure the chicken a few minutes longer than recommended. I had to put it back under pressure for a few more minutes. i cook up large batches of shredded chicken to have it on hand.

This was great. I did add some Gravy Master, maybe 2 tablespoons or so. Loved thickening the gravy in the pot.

Love this recipe because it is just dump everything in. We do halve it for ourselves.

This is a list of 10 recipes, I used the Hawaiian Chicken. Easy chicken recipe.

Good luck.

The item that is the subject of the recall is the Instant Pot Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker.  You can quibble about semantics, but the recall isn't for the electric pressure cookers being discussed here.

I just made rice and potatoes(for potato salad) in the insta pot(not together). Both came out perfectly. Everyone commented on the rice, even the 8 and 10 year old. I don't think these take significantly less time but the savings is the set and forget so you can do other things. Also, you don't heat up the rig, save water.

On a serious note, Em, my wife loves hers, we've had it about a year. They are amazing.

I don't cook much in mine, being by myself. But like enough that I will get my daughters one each for Christmas. Last night I made hard boiled eggs. Cup of water, dozen cold eggs, push "EGG". When done 6 minute high steam, rapid release steam and place eggs into ice water to cool. Warning, don't skip rapid release steam after cooking.
