Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions about adding a link in a thread. I want to refer to another thread in the thread that am I writing about. How do I go about this ? Just to let everyone know that I think that a computer make a good paper weight.

Thank you for any help,

Al

This is a test. This is what I did:

Click on hdt at the top.

Right click the thread

Click on "copy link location"

, and pasted (Ctrl-V or right click on new post and select paste) it here.

Else, if you are in the thread you want to reference:

Go up to the top and highlight the link you are in.

Right click and select "copy".

Go to the post you want it referenced in and paste it there.

If you want to link to a specific post in a thread, not just the thread you can do that too. Look in the top right of the post for the post number, something like: #1 or #10. Right click on it and select "copy link location" paste that into your post like this:

These are the types of link you can use to point someone to another spot in these forums:

I am not having much luck. I have tried idea #1. After I right click the thread, there is no words that say " copy link location". Using idea #2, the only thing that happens is the title is pasted but with no link.

Any ideas what is going on,

Al

Did you try Stan's method? You can link to this post by right click the # of the post at the top right.

If you are right clicking and not getting the selection to "COPY LINK LOCATION", it might be a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc) , issue. Which one are you using?

I tried Edge, Firefox, and IE. There are small differences is each. This one, IE, made me use "copy shortcut". Edge said "copy link".

Simply copying the URL at the top of the page and pasting anywhere should get the job done . It always has for me .

Thank you for the help. I was able to get the link posted to another thread.
