  1. Improvements for this forum / website a button that allows for pre-viewing the post before you send it up to be active larger file size for images (already mentioned in other posts) a method to view a list of "unanswered" questions or post with only the initial entry. an area to upload large files for others to download, such as service manuals a direct link to Escapees events, HOPS, Escapades, and other club news a search tool for the specific thread your reading I'm sure there are other ideas from folks that have been here longer than I have.. Cheers FB
  2. I mean, was adding a toilet wand or the hot water re-circulator the best modification? How about converting unused space under your kitchen bench seats to hold documents? Morryde suspension changes? New, higher range tires? How about that windshield washer pump that spays out the back of your rig onto tailgaters? I realize that some modifications come from necessity and not from "this will make my rig worth more" point of view. What's the one that you got the best bang for the buck? For me, adding in the spray nozzle near the toilet was a big win, well that and changing the shower head....
  3. I don't know what the silver bullet would be to make this site more popular. Admittedly, I've been hanging out on IRV2.com which seems to be bursting with activity. I don't know if the reason is that this site is "Escapees" centric, others believe because they aren't escapees, they don't belong or aren't welcome. There were over 950 rigs at the Tucson Escapade, and you can bet that most if not all use a computer. Perhaps, if there was more encouragement to use the forums in the monthly magazine, or pushed a little more information about the forum at each event, a bigger group of new Escapees would find more camaraderie in folks of the same ilk. Not all of the new Escapees are younger folks (read less than 50). Some just need a nudge to get them going in the forums. Maybe its short sighted of me to think that those who are not on the forum from the Escapees membership, either don't know this forum is here, or don't see the diversity in rig brand/type or ownership that meets their needs. For instance, of the group remaining, I'm guessing that there are less than 10 people that have similar brand and type of rigs. If a person is looking for information about an issue for a specific brand and type (Grand Design - 5th wheel), and only 2 people offer help every time you ask, I would think that they would look for a more diverse group or pool of information on another site, if they can't get their question answered. I agree that a larger file size would help, but including an area where large files can be shared. Most manuals are over 3 Mb in file size. A search tool that actually finds threads with information you need. Personally, I was disappointed that there were no management contributors to the threads prior to the last 2 Escapades. No news about the events, or other happenings of the club. I don't know what the silver bullet would be to make this site more popular. No news about the events, or other happenings of the club. Are there any posts anywhere on the forums about the 45 year anniversary? It's certainly not in the banners of the web site. I'm probably part of the problem, using other RV related sites instead of this one. I'll quit now before I start to ramble. Thanks to all of you that have kept this going!
  4. you probably already have this app, but I'll post it here incase someone doesn't AllStays C-RV has military Famcamp and other military rec facilities not listed in the other Allstays apps. I only see a link to Apple store on their web page.
  5. last evening, I did a test with my current (older) IPAD that does not have cellular or GPS. I tethered it to my iPhone 12 through the hotspot at high data rate and can report that I could not get the RV Life app to update as I traveled around the area. I re ran the same route, this time using the information from Trip Wizard in GOOGLE Maps. While the exact location was not obvious on the IPAD, meaning that the red Arrow didn't always show exactly where I was on the road, the audio driving cues were accurate although sparse, and were given in plenty of time to make the turns.I purposely made wrong turns to be sure it was keeping up with my travel and it did a reasonable job, but didn't account for me towing a trailer. Several "Make a U turn" were suggested in the middle of an intersection.SO, I'm not sure if the lag in displaying my current position was due to the age of my IPAD or just the nature of the data transfer rate from iPhone to iPad.I've heard from some folks that the IPAD with built in Cell/GPS keeps up with their location.Still can't figure out why the RV Life App wouldn't update my position on the IPAD, No audible instructions either, beyond leaving my house " Turn left at the end of the street" and that was it....Thanks to all who contributed their ideas and comments!!
  6. @Jaydrvrthanks for the reply and doing a little research! It inspired me to choose different search criteria and I was able to find additional information will help me make a choice. Here are links to the two articles that helped me get the answers.IPADS with GPS and what it doesDo I need a cellular IPADthanks for your time in replying and finding the information!!
  7. I have an basic IPAD and like it just fine, but it doesn't have cell / GPS capability and it's 6 years (or more) old. I'm strongly considering an upgrade to an IPAD Air that has 5G with GPS onboard. I'd like to know how that works with my current provider, Verizon. Do I need a new line for the IPAD in order for the GPS to work? Can I piggyback the data plan from my current subscription to the IPAD? I thought I understood that the GPS in the IPAD isn't really satellite based but triangulation to your position based on echo from the cell towers in your sector. If the above is true, how accurate is the GPS when out of range of the cell towers? I've also heard that despite the advertisements from the carriers, that many towers are only 4 G or LTE. Is that accurate. Whoops, I've crushed one of my pet peeves of only asking a max of two questions per post.. Please feel free to correct any mis-statements, I'm in learning mode and don't seem to be using the right search engine terms to get the answers I'd like. thanks in advance for your information.
  8. The company I worked for in a previous life, rented one. A Co-worker took it to a radio repeater site in winter several years ago. The site was at about 6800 feet. There was one spot where the snow had drifted over the road and he said he couldn't go around it. According to him, about half way through the drift, kind of like side hilling, the rig started to lean to the left and over it went. Fortunately the snow was deep so it only rolled a couple of times. It dislocated his shoulder and the passenger hit his head on the front roll bar. We never did find all of the tools. Tracks are great and it's amazing where you can go with them, but not for side hilling in a razor!
  9. Yup, it seems to work best with "direct link" than the "Image link" choice in Imgur. Thanks for the tip!
  10. https://imgur.com/a/JiPMlVC Hmmm, using "insert image from URL" only shows a pink background and won't display the image. Pima museum https://photos.app.goo.gl/mLYjhjeeQufHLfry5
  11. Hmm, I must be missing something. There is no delete button on the "my attachments" page, at least for me there isn't. If I right click on the picture, it pops up the picture in an editable window. If I right click on the words just to the right of the picture, I get a download dialog window. If I right click on the title of the Thread at the far right of the screen, it takes me to that Thread. If I left click on any of the above, I get the standard windows menu dialog box. No delete in sight. Maybe I don't have erase rights? I've been using computers since before Windows was an OS.. this interaction with erasing pictures has me stumped. I'm sure it's something simple. I'd put a picture of what I'm seeing when viewing "my attachments" in this thread, but I'd be over my allotment.
  12. I'm starting a new thread for this, the last one I posted in had a misleading title. I've search for answers to remove the pictures, but either folks never get to their limit or only include links to images. I have imported too many pictures and posted them in forums. Now I am reaching my total picture limit as seen in my profile area. How do I remove pictures from the attachments area of my profile or from the posts that are no longer useful / relevant? Thanks for your replies!!
  13. Maybe I miswrote what I meant. I'm looking at the attachment section of my user profile, but don't see a way of deleting the attachments. My images are not links so that advice above didn't help. Hints or tips are appreciated
  14. Not to revive a dead topic, but I have just the opposite question. I have imported several pictures and posted them in forums. Now I am reaching my total picture limit. How do I remove pictures from old, no longer used forum posts. Thanks for your replies!!
  15. It's sort of acting like the accumulator isn't there. I see you said it's holding pressure. Is that when it's connected to the water line or just by itself, no pipe connected? If it's not holding pressure just by itself, the tank is bad. I wonder if the reading you're seeing is the "system" pressure and not the bladder pressure. I have a small expansion tank from Lowes installed, it's rated up to 60psi. The rig is in winter hibernation so I can't check what it's charged to, but I'm certain its more than 30 psi.
  16. I wonder how long it will be before we move to the centralized computing mode of computing again, all applications through an internet (web based) connection. Heck "the cloud" is just the first step. Subscription services seem to be the way of things and as you've seen, has been for a while. Adobe is the one that affected me the most. Fortunately the legacy copies of my apps still work even though they MAY be vulnerable to security leaks. Many of the applications I have, can be emulated or are native on linux now but there are a few, Quicken specifically, that aren't and probably won't. Quicken is now an annual subscription but not web based, yet. In addition to the other vices I have, I'm involved with a model train club that wants to animate some of their scenes, so in steps the arduino. At this point, it's mostly lighting changes like sunrise to sunset cyles, but there are some speedometers and scale ride controls that are needed. I seem to be one of the few that can recognize the hot end of the soldering iron, so I get those jobs. I still need to consider the change over to Window 11. I only have one PC, that is relegated to the CNC area to drive the software, and the others will need to wait, just for a while.
  17. You may also wish to consider how far from the campground you plan to roam. Here in Idaho, I have a plate on the back of my RZR that is regulated to driving only on non-numbered roads. No driving on numbered county, state, or interstate roads. Just thought I'd mention this, but your situation, state and use may be different.
  18. So, I'm not entirely sure. I presume the values are since I started using the browser which I estimate is about a year ago. update: I looked in the community forum for the developers and it appears the statistics are dated from install. There is a feature request into the developers to make the number resettable.
  19. Still using Brave for about 99% of internet browsing. The screen shot attached shows an impressive picture of what I'm not seeing any longer. It comes from the start up of a "new tab" in Brave. On my phone, I use the Brave search engine but on the home computer(s), it's a mix of Brave Browser and Brave and duckduckgo search tools. I wasn't aware that there was so much tie in with YouTube and GOOGLE, but I'm learning new things every day, occasionally for the second time FYI, I'm still tinkering with Arduinos and other electronics circuits for fun and not profit. When I can't find what I'm looking for in the usual places I'll use these two part search engines: Octopart.com findchips.com Most times, but not always, I get an idea of who has the parts needed, MOQ, price and if it's in stock. The best part is that sometimes, the information is accurate!
  20. Today, I received an email that at first I thought was spam but turned out to be legit. It was from GOOGLE telling me my "Location Histories" were "ON" and provided a link in the email. Being skeptical about links in email, I used another search tool on my computer and found links to the same site referred to in the email. I'll post them here, but feel free to investigate on your own. I was able to "turn off" ad tracking and many other data/historical tracking features provided by GOOGLE which includes YouTube histories and ad preferences. I'm not 100% sure how this will affect my browsing experience, however, I'm anticipating that this will reduce the number of odd product ads that show up when I least expect them and I really can't see a need for GOOGLE to know where I've been or what products I'm looking for.. Here is a starting point for managing location histories: Google location history management from there, there are links to many more portions of your GOOGLE account preferences and activity trackers. here is one specifically for activity tracking. GOOGLE activity tracking Cheers and safe browsing.
  21. watching this unfold (no pun intended) in discussion here, makes me hope that there is never anyone around with a camera if (when?) I do something unintended that results in catastrophic loss of equipment but no harm to occupants.
  22. Linda, Be ware that when the repeater is installed, it becomes a parasitic load, meaning it will draw a slight amount of current all the time. You may wish to attach the repeater power line to fuse in a place that is easily accessible / removeable so when the Motorhome is not in use for a LONG period of time ( more than a month) your batteries don't drain a little.
  23. I don't think this has been posted here before so I'll add it to the list of things to look out for. Most of the folks that are savvy enough to use this forum, are aware of the opportunities for being scammed and can most times identify them before becoming a victim. The video I'm posting from a well know YouTube contributor, Mark Rober, shows what he has done to disrupt the call centers in India. While it's entertaining to watch, it's also important to know that while the call centers were off line, the scammers were unable to collect their typical $65,000 per day! here's the video. Pranking the scam call center IF you know someone that is over 65, be sure to advise them to be ware of the potential for un wittingly giving up personal information or money from their accounts. May the odds be in your favor..
  24. Does anyone know if any personal information was compromised as well, or do they just have our email addresses? Login passwords?? I'll change mine as a precaution.
