  1. The shackle has not flipped the triangle piece has moved rearward. It looks to be an extension to give you more ground clearance. Even if it was the other side up it doesn't look like it would be stable. I am speculating that it wasn't installed correctly. If you Jack up the trailer by the frame it should all hang in place.
  2. Thanks Jack I was thinking it might make a good place to put a couple of things I havent found a good place for.
  3. Not to hi Jack but how about a smart on a ramp sideways?.
  4. Go to the top of this forum (HDT) and the third or fourth topic is on picture posting. It leads you to a link where you can post any size picture or video. I have seen pictures such as you are looking for just try googling it.
  5. I actually bought 3 as I also have a Can Am Spider. I got the star pattern instead of the cross rods, they work great. Dont be afraid to call them.
  6. Ben I will clarify with him as to why he stopped using it, and if He is going to sell it. It's in Vermont now so unless your coming up or going to Brownsville TX the shipping would be horable. The bar that goes into your receiver is the height adjustment to match the truck and trailer and is done by buying a new one. This may be the reason he stopped using it.
  7. I once had a good Samaritan chase me down for not paying at a pump that wouldn't take my card, I kept putting in the wrong pin LOL. Fortunately the attendat was able to prove that the transaction showing on the pump was for the customer before me. He did think I had driven off and asked his friend to go after me.
  8. My father has started with a Reese cam style after about 10 years he bought a Hensley after about 2 years he switched back and it now sits in my garage. Its not that he dislikes the Hensley its just not as convenient and you cant ajust the hight without buying a new shaft. He was pulling a 30 something Montana that was about 14k with a 2500 Silverado crew cab. I use a regular Reese with a friction sway control on my 30 foot Avion at about 8 to 9k pulled with a 3500 Silverado crew cab. My parents put on about 8k miles per year towing some years much more. And My longest single trip was 8k in 3 weeks neither of us have had any sway isues. My parenst had to make veey hard maneuvers when a young man fell asleep at the wheel and came across the road and side swiped the trailer. My father said it was the Reese hitch that keeped them from wrecking. Happy trails.
  9. The abbreviations can be confusing. I always called a tt a bumper pull or bp and a 5er a fith wheel, but they were all travel trailers. A rv was a motorhome and all campers were rvs. I think its a regional thing and the web has no regions. Of course I thought lol was lots of love and only used it with my wife until she asked me whats so funny.
  10. 7 Jack if permissible to ask how much are your chocks? I was planing on using them I was just wondering if I had the reasoning correct. Side load instead of front facing, certainly does not leave much room for error.
  11. I have hauled lots of vehicles and have never used chocks so is the use of them on the smart due to loading sideways?
  12. I dont know where you live but in the north east you will see 3/4ton trucks with road Sanders in the back everywhere in the winter and usually a plow on the front. The Sanders way between 700 and 1500 lbs, some more, empty. Most are 1 and 1/2 yard capacity and wet sand ways atleast 3000 lbs per yard so about 4500 lbs in the back and 500 to 1000 for the plow. They are way over loaded and dont last very long. But they seldon fall apart. The point is the owners know this and make a decision to run them that way and live with the consequences. A few pounds wont hurt but your margin of safety and comfort goes down fast as you over load. There can also be a large difference I'm the capacity of one 2500 to another as as some are HD ordered with plow or towing packages and such. Adding things like air bags does not raise its capacity.
  13. I have hit 120 a couple of times and I am not sure how close to 0 I am, 2 or 3 I think, my original knee is at negative 3 so it makes the new one look more bent than it is. My knee was straight when I woke up and they had a air bag that pumped up every few seconds on it, probably about 5 degrees and they had a fit if I put a pillow under the knee. I had to put a small one to keep it at the 5 degree point or I could not stand it. They had me use a leg bending machine for two weeks six hours a day with the goal of negative 5? and 120 which I reached but there's a lot of flex in the straps.
  14. Dave, I am starting to loose track of the weeks count so I must be doing a lot better lol. I think it's 10 weeks Tuesday I have done 4 weeks driving the school bus the first week was a little tiring but ok now I dont even notice. It's the right leg so pushing the brake not the clutch but you can sit there with your foot on the brake for a minute or more and I stop 15 to 20 times in an hour. This week weather and family permitting I hope to start pulling tires off the Volvo to work on the abs. I had and still have some soft tissue issues that my father didn't have but am probably 75% or better and in some ways much better than before the surgery. My limp is almost gone, which is something after 34 years. You should do fine and be back in your Peterbilt in plenty of time.
  15. You would have better luck with a mascurater pump and hose for that kind of septic distance. As for electric you might want to put in a post near your parking spot.
  16. When we had a van, no hookups at all, we stayed in tent sites. No one ever complained after all they all had a vehicle, some of them larger than our old van. Most private campgrounds will rent you a tent site instead of loosing a sale. A state park we go to mixes tent and rvs site.
  17. Thank you, the picture helps to visualize the hole you will need as well.
  18. Gleen please educate me all of the mine splits I have looked into only neaded a small hole for the pipes to go through and had a power unit on the outside and the cooling unit on the inside. What kind is yours?
  19. Are your rafters arched? Could you get a plywood rafter screwed and glued to the side of the uncut rafter? 3/4 cdx plywood would probably be my Choice both screwed and glued to make your box. Your biggest problem is that the two adjoining Rafters will have to carry the load of the one you cut. So any extra support you can give them is good. Are the rafters them selves 6 inches or does it have a dropped sealing?
  20. There is a right angle gun tip that slides on from the side. They only need about 3/8 of an inch of clearance. Also if you jack up one axle the shackles for the one will come down.
  21. You can put shut off valves on both sides of the filter the next time you drain the system for winterizing. If your pipes are not rubber I would not crimp them but if they are you shouldn't have a problem.
  22. I think I would use two relays one for each switch so they cant feed power to each other. One common feed to the lights will still work. I like to pull relays from vehicles about to be crushed you can often get them for free.
  23. Putting a relay activated by the backup switch and or your toggle switch will work.
  24. They tried "greasing" my knee for a year I never saw any difference. They also gave me a brace to unload the knee, I am sure glad they finaly stop all the nonsense and did something. I suppose it was to show the insurance that I really needed replacement.
  25. I am probably a poor example, all my issues have been with the soft tissue behind the knee down into the calf. The replacement didn't realy hurt just uncomfortable at times. Most of my trouble started in the second week when i started to walk heal to toe, before that I thought I was golden. My fsther hsd both done about a year apart, same Dr he said he would do them at the same time but felt it was unnecessary in his case. If both of my were bad i would be tempted to do both at once. I would however do more home prep before.
