  1. Trimster I put mine above the frame over the fuel tank. I put 1/4" by 10" plate on edge and made 2 tubes for the ramps. I made them 10 tall as I removed the pins from one set of 3 and put half with each full ramp. This also gave me plenty of room over the tires, I have a 4" tall toolbox over the tires so you could get away with 6" on my 630 Volvo. I was going to cary a Spider before getting a Smart. I built most of my beds frame from 1/4" plate it is very strong and takes up almost no space. I have been very happy with it.
  2. The green Flexzila hoses are realy good I get them at Tractor Supply but I would think they have them elsewhere. I also use there air hoses. Not cheap and they dont as tore like the retractable ones but light years ahead of any other I have tried, they stay soft and flexible and I dont think you could kink it.
  3. I very seldom had a spotter I due injoy the cameras but they arnt necessary.
  4. Not at all, 2 cameras mounted 90 degrees to each other works perfectly.
  5. The second one just came down a steep hill and used the slide outs as parachutes.
  6. If you remove the hose that goes to one curent 30lb tank and attach the hose from 1 100 pound tank in its place the switch over valve should work as normal. You can probably just rap the long hose around the 30lb tank if you decide to move the trailer so that you don't have to change over. Mine will slowly empty the full tank if I remove the empty one to go fill it so I attach a spare tank while I am gone to town. Even an empty one will work, but as you have 2 100 tanks you could just attach to the second one. Funny thing at our local station its $1 more for 100lb fill than for 5 20lb fills but with the inconsistent amount people put in tanks I think I get more in the 100lb fill. Every year I question that decision 100 pound tank seems to way 180 this year last year it was only 175 lol.

    Engine heater

I use the block heater in my Cummins powered school bus, I only plug it in if it's going below 10 farenheit, then it's on a timer 1.5 hours and you would think it was 75 out. I have started buses at 20 below farenheit without plugging them in, I do not recommend it, the one I am thinking of was an International 444E if memory is not all lost. I use them a lot on the farm tractors about 1 hour and they whip wright over.
  8. Glenn I know nothing about aquahot but I had a 5.7 Cummins and it had far more useable power than the v10 fords that I had the misfortune to drive. Mine was the mechanical injection and I changed the torque plate what a difference.
  9. Thank you I have the restictors for the rear and the cab bags I have considered the front kit. I may look into it more.

    HDT add ons

On my black tank that I installed on the truck I used a extra port at the top and installed a 1/2 inch pcv pipe with an elbow and a capped length going down to the bottom of the tank for support a small hole in the cap so it can drain out I drilled several small holes in it. I can attach a hose to it for cleaning, I keep a short section of hose with only a male fitting and the other end cut off to slip on the end of the wash hose often provided at dump stations and yes you have to be careful not to get wet. I plan for a bladder tank in the future if I find I need more storage, I think it could even go under the Smart. A couple of fresh blader tanks could go on the deck beside the hitch or under the Smart as they will be empty and put away for the return trip. I use the same 1" hoses that I fill the tank with to empty it.
  11. Does anyone have experience with Donvalves front airbag kit?

    HDT add ons

I have a 40 + gallon black tank, just a regular fresh tank, mounted beside the front driveshaft, on my singled short 630 it is mounted to the bottom of the frame and is exactly the same as the bottom of the fuel tank. I have 2 18? Gallon fresh tanks behind the drives next to the frame with toolboxes toured the outside. These tanks could have been much bigger without the tool boxes. They are T together and use one fill and one pump. I use a mascarater pump on the trailer to fill the black tank and a 1" flex pipe to gravity empty. I use quick conect fittings on all hoses and they will all conect together so I have lots of reach. Looks much nicer than pulling a hunny wagon with a HDT! Works a lot better also. I can send pictures if you are interested.
  13. There is a device called the Claw, I think, that comes in a HDT size there are also ways to turn you drive wheels into a winch. There was a guy on here that went winter camping pulling his camper with a slead.
  14. Go to the top of this HDT page about the forth post down is picture posting instructions.
  15. Just for reference a couple of winters ago I left my truck, singled short Volvo 630 with super singles, parked on the side of the driveway a little to long. The front wheels had sunk a little and the ground was frozen when I decided to move it. This was before I built the bed, I tryed laying chains on the ground but I could only get it to rock. I tried to pull it with my 90 horse 4 wheel drive farm tractor, no chains on tractor, no go. I was by my self so as a last resort I set the bucket on the frame and lifted the front of the tractor off the ground probably added 3 or 4 thousand pounds as far back as I could. It walked right out pushing the 9000 lb tractor. I do have a locking diff sure would like one.
  16. I can see this as a problem for me with the pandemic my truck will be 2 years sitting by next summer. You have me thinking now.
  17. A pice of garden hose held to my ear will narrow it down faster than my whisper.
  18. How did you like Show Low? We bought a place there in December but have not been in the summer. It up near Taylor, If the house sells maybe next summer.
  19. Linda I agree with you. I think there is a time when you have done enough to legitimately say I am moving or I have moved and most would not question it 9 months before you do is probably not that time. The primary item I was trying to point out was that if his license doesn't allow him to drive an HDT in AR then he still can't even if its registered in SD as long as he has an AR licence.
  20. You might draw more attention to your self if you register your daily driver in SD. Where the truck is registered has nothing to do with the license requirements of the state you are licensed, in so a AZ licensed driver needs a CDL in all 50 states just like I can drive a truck in any state without one because Vermont doesn't require it for private trucks. Keep in mind that most officers do not know what other states require so many of us carry a binder with that info in it. You could go to SD and get your license, but this would depend on when you plan to leave AZ, you would want to be actively showing your intention to leave AZ. you can have vehicles registered in a state that is not your domicile. I have several relative with winter cars that they leave in Florida.
  21. I have my grandfather's Craftsman set I remember it as a kid so probably 50 or older still going strong, just used it the other day. I have a Harbor Freight metric set and have used it a lot and hard at times so far so good. It is there higher end one.
  22. I got my son a Samsung A51 it's very nice $300. I got a used Samsung S10 as an upgrade from the used S5 I got a year ago for $400 ish on Ebay it is a huge step up. I would have gotten the A51 but it doesn't have as good dust protection and I need GRUD protection. I have been using the magnetic charge cable for about a year and I am very happy with them, I have one that is a data cable as well as the charge cable, but have I not used it yet. Get the angled one, I like the angle pivoting one the best. I have several brands and they all seem to work with each other.
  23. I have a gooseneck, I also use two cameras one in front and one 90 degrees to the side. This allows really good vision, ofcourse I can do it with mirrors and getting out to check but why?
  24. My parents have a class C on a 5500 GM with a Duramax they pull a 18 foot trailer with a Mazda Miata and lots of tools. They are close but not over the combined wheight.
  25. We used a bilge pump to fill 55 gallon barrels out of a lake, I dont remember that it took long. I think you can even get them at Walmart.
