    Volvo Dinette?

Did you get your measurements? We have that dinette, and we will be out there, (struggling with RVS cameras) today. I can get measurements for you.
  2. Thanks Ben. The rims were swapped out recently, and this brought to my attention the cupping wear pattern near the edges. I have some time left but thought it best to plan ahead for a change. šŸ™‚
  3. Thanks all, for the answers. I never did pick up that impact driver for the lugs. Second Chance and others make the point that I was forgetting about balancing. Still have enough miles left on the tires to get the fiver to a bigger town and a bigger tire dealer. I think thatā€™s the way I will go.
  4. We are full timers and so are set up most of the time with our slides out. I have decided to replace the fifth wheel tires but have not done this in a full timing situation before. Is it standard practice to call a tire service that will bring the tires and install them on site? Or does it make more sense to pack up and bring the trailer to a tire seller? We are currently located SW of Corpus Christi by about 2 hours. The very small town of Falfurrias, TX has some tire sellers that might be set up for cars and trucks but donā€™t appear to have room for a large truck and trailer combo in their lot. Any recommendations for tire sales in south central Texas?

There are others here who have added lower windows to their 670, with some documentation. FYI.

Just shooting from the hip, I think the trucking industry will have some influence in this issue. Currently there are many (thousands?) pre emission reg. trucks on the road. I think the non compliant trucks will be moved off the road by attrition.
  7. I agree with Linda. When sitting still, try to imagine itā€™s been rainy and cold for x number of days, and you are cooped up inside. The layout and the number of windows might be a factor for you.
  8. All good advice above! Pre-inspection, find an online forum for your unit specifically. Spend some time there focused on common issues with used units like yours. This will help you during the inspection. Donā€™t read about the bad stuff and let it discourage you, thatā€™s very important. (All brands have their problems) Try to see it like a top 3 list of things to inspect. If yours is new-factory-fresh, then you are probably good, so keep your top 3 list for the future. (Examples might include caulk that cracks, and water fittings that tend to leak after some time goes by) Items to consider; smaller 2x8 chunks of lumber to roll tires on for side to side leveling or corner jack bracing. Wider pieces tend to split easily in my experience. oil filled electric heater-some feel any electric heater could ā€œgo wrongā€. Your discretion. Also a weight factor. Small interior fan Repurpose sleeping bags for warm bedding Repurpose a Travel bag For cosmetics/shower/shave items
  9. Photos are a process, but not hard. Jackā€™s Photo Posting Link
  10. We are a day south of you. Countryside RV park in Falfurrias. Not much to do here but golf or drive to the coast. Whatā€™s in Big Bend?
  11. We also were in favor of Carriage, and had started looking at them. We bought a DRV eventually, but would still consider a Carriage or a Teton.
  12. The search function can bring up a lot of unrelated results. I remembered the discussion has been done a few times. I put together weight balance with no quotes, then restricted to this forum and titles only. This link should open the same results I got. The members in the last topic post are Well known for the expertise they have, I didnā€™t look at all 7 results but assume there is good info there also. I donā€™t pretend to understand the discussions I found, just passing this along for the value. https://www.rvnetwork.com/search/?q=Weight balance&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=32&search_and_or=and&search_in=titles Particularly note the mention of a spreadsheet, which may be still available for download. It has a pdf extension which must be changed to xls. Mark Bruss refers to the resource guide which is always a great source. I didnā€™t follow to check it.

    Servicing

Air conditioning system, itā€™s not the same level of importance as all the advice so far, but it was beyond my skill level. I would guess $1100-$1600 range at the dealer, with no big parts replaced.
  14. Christmas morning dreaming. Just saw your build, beautiful job!
  15. Thanks everyone for your help. The underlying theme of the answers is keep it simple. I get that. šŸ™‚
  16. Hi folks, we have a wired camera system from RVS. Currently we have 2 cameras with room to add more. I have removed the camera from the high mounted position on the back of the cab. I want to mount in front of the hitch. Many of you have done this also. I am sure I will have to fab some kind of a frame or base. I might be able to mount directly to the ET hitch. I would be interested to see photos by those who have done this if you donā€™t mind taking the time to post them. Thanks in advance.
  17. Congratulations on that big milestone. You got this. Merry Christmas!
  18. Congratulations! Sounds like you did well!
  19. We did much the same, projects large and small were as weather permitted. I think the dealer I bought from was prepared to fix anything I found wrong. I missed several things that they might have fixed (But I will never know) such as a cab mount that was broken and a power steering hose that was leaking. If yours is a fleet truck, why not ask them?
  20. I was where you are, just a few years ago. Excellent question AND you are asking the right people here. I second the oil and dyno. I would not have thought of the passenger air ride seat. Expanding on that, ANYTHING that can make the passenger seat better! We have yet to find a good answer for the so called cup holder in the center. More power outlets for the passenger. Make sure the door controls work. The window switches have a tendency to go bad. Same with the dash HVAC controls. Small stuff but frustrating if they are broken and you didnā€™t notice.
  21. We need a policy also, following, and thanks.
  22. Just a small FYI, they took the pins out of my wrist yesterday. I will presumably be able endorsing checks again very soon. šŸ˜‰ I am moved by the concern and helpful friends here. Thank you so much! I was able to visit another RV repair in Lebanon, TN. We got a nice little tour and detailed description of how our slide floor would be repaired. We have not scheduled yet, but will probably go with this place. Lebanon RV Repair in Lebanon, TN. Anyone have any recommendations for, or against? Thanks in advance.
  23. I grew up with a shepherd with that coloring. Beautiful.
  24. Thank you Ben! Stay away from the I840 around Nashville!!! If there is any justice, those responsible for that road will have fleas and worse for generations. šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬
  25. Thanks! Since you all have been so kind, I will update with some good news for a change, the new doc appointment went well yesterday. We liked the office and the location works well for us since itā€™s in Smyrna near the son and DIL. The high elbow cast came off! Now about 3 weeks in a wrist brace then the pins come out. We are at Texas T campground this week, maybe next, depends. Cornersville, TN.
