  1. This page has a list of member names and photos. The word member probably means member of Escapees. Click on each name and there will be a photo of the rig. It might just take awhile. http://www.hhrvresource.com/lookup-table.html
  2. I bought mine at a truck stop parts and service counter, which happened to have them on the floor.
  3. We ended up pulling the rig into the tire shop driveway. They were on it right away, but even with mom and junior working together, it took a couple of hours. I preferred to spend money with a small independent place that appreciated the business, and I was rewarded. The service was excellent, and I'm sure the tires are excellent too. We got Hercules brand at Vista Tires in Falfurrias, TX.
  4. Sorry to hear about your challenges lately. I can relate to some of those. I hope you’re mending well.
  5. I can’t help with the HDT friendly part, but we aren’t far from there, and can highly recommend a visit to the Texas Aquarium and the USS Lexington. We just went to the Lexington on Tuesday. Thanks Jay.

    My Bed design

How much do you charge? 😂 Just kidding, but wow what a nice job you have done!
  7. I had to do that. Funny thing, the right side was very stubborn and came off in small chunks, but the left side was not frozen and came off as designed. The right side lower bolt was the problem bolt on mine.
  8. Thanks Cory, we got lucky. For some reason the striping was done at the factory we think. I can’t see a fleet owner striping one truck in the fleet. We like it too. The dark navy (instead of black) has grown on me.
  9. Yesterday I got an Iowa 80 email with all their colorful buffing products for sale. If I were a conspiracy theory person I might think the internet was listening to our conversation. 😀
  10. in my opinion the fast speed will take off too much paint too fast. Out on a flat area it might not, but then suddenly your edges will be missing paint. Might be the speed or the heat buildup. I defer to others with more experience tho.
  11. I liked Trimster’s suggestion too. I might try the Turtle Wax product.
  12. We had a big cruiser in a marina, and I got frustrated with wax since it dulls so fast and takes constant repeat applications. The marina neighbors used the stuff in the orange bottle. Nu Finish The Once A Year Car Polish I found that it’s not a perfect mirror shine, like wet sanding and 2 or 3 levels of polishing compound would be, but better than wax and a LOT less work. It wipes on and wipes off. Just my opinion. Btw, the above description is fiberglass finishing not automotive paint finishing, paint is a lot softer than gel coat.
  13. We were looking for seats once upon a time but never dropped the money. We were also advised to find a big display at a truck stop, and spend some time trying the seats out. In our limited travels we have found 2. Joplin TA 44 in Missouri, and Kenly 95 in North Carolina.
  14. Bill, Thanks for the info above. Lots of information on the RV mobile internet site. We have been 95% happy with our Verizon coverage, extremely unhappy with the cost. We are new to full timing, and really need to cut this cost down.
  15. Sorry to read about all this headache. I looked up midland, quite a ways from Terlingua, you did well that day. Next time try to need help closer to us. 😉
  16. I can imagine having full rated 125 cold pressure, then the heat from driving, is what caused our trailer tires to slide one day during a local rainstorm. Not enough tread on the ground due to higher pressure, tho still within normal operating pressure. We were at 45 mph which turned out to be too fast. Temp was in the 60s.
  17. Carl, Glad to hear plan B worked out. The report from the ground is: Falfurrias and Kingsville have none of the basics such as milk, bread, and water. Very few places fill propane. Word on the street here is no propane within 100 miles any direction. The Walmart appeared to have been closed until today, shelves were not stocked and bare. H-E-B was better by a little. There were days of no power or heat. (Most all residential homes are electric only). This affected the water pressure. Locally our city pumps are down. Trucks either can’t get loaded or unloaded, icy roads made it worse. Fuel and gasoline supplies appear to be holding out near busy highways, the internet says the supply is not consistent everywhere. Temps are forecast to 30 something Fahrenheit tonight and tomorrow, warming Saturday to 50 ish, 40 ish at night. Rough numbers from this morning. We are south of College Station so might be colder with more rain for them? If I was a college dorm resident I would try to acquire some canned food and maybe find a cold place outside my window to store a few items. Dry food like rice and noodles need water and electricity. Transportation is probably very difficult for them right now. Hope this is helpful.
  18. Good advice thanks. My reluctance to pay for a TOTL Milwaukee impact wrench has me sitting on my hands. Also the rare freeze we are having in south Texas is my best excuse today. 🙂
  19. I spoke with Vista tires in Falfurrias and they can order and balance/install the tires. The lot looks big enough, if I use the parking lot next door for backing in. They quoted about 178 for J range Goodrise brand which I have never heard of, and 202 for J range Hercules brand, which I’m told has a good rep.
  20. Between truck types, a used HDT is the most cost effective way to go. A pickup just can’t compare, generally speaking. In my opinion similarities exist, older trucks have more age related issues with wiring and rubber seals and hoses. These are easier for you to fix yourself. Newer trucks can have these too, but less so. Lack of pollution control systems on older trucks vs. sometimes glitchy systems on newer trucks which may be difficult to diagnose and fix yourself. We have a newer truck with under 450,000 miles and have replaced 2 expensive sensors and had some AC repairs in 4 years. Not so bad. Plus we really like our auto shift trans. You can find an RV hauler already done, and pay that price. Or buy the basic commercial truck to convert yourself. Buying the bare truck and having it converted professionally is also an option. Hope this helps.
  21. Pretty broad question, but ya gotta start somewhere right? I agree very much with Birdman about storage. Big logistics first. Storage? Where and how much? Most trailer types require a truck as the second vehicle. Are you a student who would drive a pickup truck? If not then probably a motor home of some type. Consider a vehicle that can be towed as your 365 day vehicle, and your part time motor home could pull your 365 vehicle on trips? Many here might have better advice than I, but that’s my 2 cents.

    Volvo Dinette?

I took some photos while my lovely assistant held a tape measure. Send me a pm with your email address and I will send the pics. They are of the basic l-w-h dimensions of one seat w/o cushion, l-w of the table, and space between dinette seats.
  23. Kingsville or Alice have big tire shops, Falfurrias not so much. I will call around.
  24. Cupping is on one side only. I will add “find a repair shop” to my list today. Tires have been inflated to 120 in the year we have owned it. I have forgotten the date on them but suspect it’s time to replace anyway.
