  1. I only have experience with S&B houses, but if the subfloor flexes when you walk on it, there will be problems later. I have never restored a vehicle of any type though.
  2. We were driving east on highway 60 somewhere in the middle of Missouri today. Westbound we saw an HDT hauling a fifth wheel. I only got 1 glance because I was driving but it might have been a Volvo 780, white above, red fenders and fairings. Camper I'm not sure but probably white. We got no photos. Sound familiar to anyone?
  3. Maybe further info would be better here rather than avi8trs build.

  4. I just noticed you also have a 99 VX.  I got mine last October just before the Rally. Mechanically pretty good, but cosmetically not so much.

Maybe after I sell the camper I will set aside some time for the hood panels and cladding.  I have read; only a heat gun or a torch will work for the cladding oxidization.  Paint might get a vinyl coating on mine.  I just sunk big $$$ into the front end.  Between that and the new tires it helped the ride a lot.

Have you tried to drive it up on the bed of your truck yet?

It used to ride in the truck, now it's in the garage of the trailer. https://goo.gl/photos/N8jMK9bdsTzwT6R5A

I like the trailer much better.

My 99 is silver also.  We have been giving much thought to a toy hauler but have not settled on just how much use that area will get when we are living in it.  That's if we make that move.

  5. Many years ago I was looking at a small John Deere. The whole thing was manufactured by Yanmar. I found a Yanmar dealer and saved $1000 for the same tractor. Yanmar added a hydraulic shift that John Deere did not offer. In those days the 18hp 4x4 was about $7 or $8k so the difference was significant. Yanmar is a very well known manufacturer and I had zero problems with the tractor. The Bobcat advice was great, thanks Chad!
  6. Hi all, I just found this post. I've been a member for a couple of weeks now. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to answer my questions. I have browsed the RV Haulers site, have been getting the Truck Paper for about a year, and Racing Junk for a few months. I have never driven an HDT. I have owned 4 GM trucks. I have decided not to buy another one. There is no point in buying a vehicle new or used, with those kind of life cycle issues. I have decided not to attempt singling a truck, and will probably pay to have it done. My work background includes boat building, cartography, steel factory(70s) wood pattern making, plastics, prototypes, (80s) automotive clay, CAD design, 3D printing (90s to date). Interests past and present include, motorcycles, boats/boating, scuba, photography, welding, camping, firearms, art, Photoshop, Maya. I am approaching retirement and I would like to drive around the US and Canada for a couple of years. While I am currently working, my line of work might require travel in the future. I want to be prepared for the opportunity when it arrives. Kevin
