  1. If it doesn't take a 50lb anvil for a dolly and a 20lb sledge as a body hammer, you did good on the welding and fitting 😎
  2. Not sure about this one but be aware that most of the RV community considers a Class A as a "big rig" and the people in this forum think "big rigs" are 70 feet plus in length and that a class A is a small unit to drive.
  3. Guys, he still needs to eliminate the pedestal as the problem. If that is done, then you can at least isolate the issue to the park or the trailer. I understand that he doesn't have enough cord to reach to another pedestal but with everything he has already bought, you can go buy a 50 foot, 30 amp extension cord for less than $100 and go plug into another pedestal that is working. Until that BASIC test is done, you are just shooting in the dark here. Either that or borrow a gen set. Either way, he needs to get that basic step out of the way before anyone can help him.
  4. Don't re-wire ANYTHING. If you can borrow a gen set that is capable of 30 amp service (or two smaller generators that can be sync'd to provide 30 amps). Just start the gen set and take the 30 amp plug you have plugged into the park pedestal and plug that cord into the gen set. That way you will be able to do two things, test you wiring of the parts you have replaced and the park pedestal. If everything works fine, then the pedestal is bad. If it still doesn't work, something on your rig is screwed up.
  5. How about doing something VERY simple. Borrow a generator from a neighbor if you don't have one and instead of plugging into the pedestal, plug into the generator and see if it works. If it does, the problem is the pedestal. You might have 120 volts at the pedestal, but it might not be capable of delivering the amperage you need.
  6. LOL Carl, your first mistake was turning on the computer....😎
  7. After waiting this long, we expect a LOT of photos!
  8. Mine went either just in front of the tandems or between them, too long ago to remember. As long as you have a side marker light somewhere along the side of a truck over 30 feet long, you should be OK.
  9. KW has side marker lights that bolt to the frame. If you are near Kilgore, Texas and can dig around in Larry Herrin's shop, you can probably find the ones that came off of our T680 when he built our bed.
  10. We have stayed at Dad's with our rig. Same size as yours as far as the smart, trailer and HDT goes.
  11. Actually, it says Snap-on.... You forgot the dash...😎 And it's still pretty sharp for an obsidian edge.
  12. For those wondering what these extensions are, they are a very short extension with a magnet in the end of them that extends into the socket. These work a LOT better than the inserts that are sold for this purpose. Gearwrench makes a set like these here: GEARWRENCH 81237 3 Piece Magnetic Adapter Set - Drive Sockets - Amazon.com And they will be a lot cheaper than the Snap-on set that I have. They are worth their weight in gold when you need them though.
  13. Carl, It's just like changing the thermostat on a Toyota, just a little bigger. Clean up the block where the rubber O-ring sits and put a little silicone grease on the outer edge of the O-ring if needed to get it to slip into the hole. Note I said a LITTLE grease... After that, just make sure it doesn't slip out any when you are putting the housing back on. That is the biggest issue some people have is not paying attention and cracking the thermostat housing by letting the thermostat slip between the housing and the block when they tighten the bolts.
  14. Not sure about the older F550's but any of the newer ones will have suspensions rated from 17,500 pounds to 19,500 pounds GVWR.
  15. Jim, I have got to ask.... If those 24-year-old bolts were too hard for you to get out, how long did it take Alie to break them loose and remove them???
  16. Kirk, I thought Escapees has a discount fuel program? I heard somewhere (probably wrong...) that TSD was looking into adding the gas islands at the truck stops to their plan. Don't know if that is correct or not and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on it.
  17. Kirk, The mom-and-pop shops were on par with the discounted price. They were just a few cents higher than the $3.29 a gallon that we paid for our fuel.
  18. How long ago was your purchase? Just checked and the current pump price is $3.99 a gallon at that TA.
  19. We just filled up in Slidell, LA. Bought 158 gallons of fuel for 3.29 a gallon. The discount was $73.66 so roughly 46 cents per gallon. That was on par with the mom-and-pop shops nearby, but they don't have master/slave pumps and take forever to pump that much fuel. The pump price was $3.75 a gallon
  20. Kirk, the Winnebago is a demo only and not for sale but is a good representation of what it will be. The production units will have a larger battery for increased range. I didn't look at the Thor model as I got a little sidetracked looking at a very small (17 foot) european designed baby motorhome. I have to give to the Italians, their vehicles always have style.
  21. We went by and took a look at this RV and it is an interesting concept but still not practical for all. The current limited range would be an issue for us as well as charging times and available charging facilities as we often camp of the grid. Another major issue is what to do if caught in cold weather by a bad wreck or the situation that happened to hundreds recently on I-95 in Virginia. Stuck for 24 hours with only limited battery power and no way to recharge. With an ICE engine, I can fill the tank before getting into a mess like that and be able to go several days and still have sufficient heat to survive. I know that the feds are pushing in this direction and I am looking forward to seeing what will happen with EV's in the future
  22. Flying J and Pilot are not on the TSD program. We also setup a new account just for this card and haven't had a problem at all in over a year of usage.
  23. Fixed the links for you. Looks great so far.
  24. Rick, got to hand it to you, that bed looks really nice. Can't wait to see it in person once it's painte and finished.
  25. Jack, you can look at most all of them, ride in a lot and even drive a few of them during the rally.
