  1. and to think my 90 pound lovable ball of fur, molly would have been banned by some of these rules. she loved everybody, and believed everybody was coming to her door to sat hi to her. and she was very well behaved, and responded to voice and hand signals. but cause of her weight, (a bit on the heavy side), build, (like a tiger tank), and looked like a purebred rott. (till you saw her tung). i have been bitten many a time by those little rat dogs, (yes i know spelling, spell check does not help here). why are they not on the list of aggressive dogs?
  2. as to being worried about the exhaust gasses. make a stack to vent the gasses up 14-16 feet off the ground. (2-3 feet above your highest point on your rig). easy to build just use some 6 or 8 foot lengths (pending your storage area for them) of 4 inch, can get away with 3 in if necessary, pvc plastic piping, with one end belled so the parts can slip fit on each other. and a amount of electrical conduit, bent to connect, one of the metal elbows, fixed to the bottom of your stack, held in a way to keep it centered as it will get HOT. going up in the conduit a good foot, more is better, then have the stack held a bit (6 inches is great, a foot is more than enough) off the ground to allow unlimited cold air to be sucked in. the exhaust gasses are forced up, as they are hot, heat rises so the cold air is sucked in cooling things a bit. no filter required or needed. i would draw something but i am not very good at even making a straight line. but the base section stands a good 4 feet tall. and add on two 8 foot extenders, with connections for angled supports so it does not fall over.
  3. need to talk with my mom first. but plan on doing the res within a couple weeks. yesterday was my sat. got home around 7:am ( started at 4:pm sunday) slept till 8:pm. today she is off with her boyfriend. just is never much if any free time these days. but yes i do know early reg is mandatory. also want to add in one day/night up front. try to beat the traffic. then watch the show as some try to park.
  4. thank you 2gypsies as i did not have a correct name for a campground in that area. yes my mom needs flat, no hills or angles, heck even stairs keep her out.. thinking one, maybe two nights there then a easy drive (with view stops) up to rock springs. if i still have this work bid then as i do now, will be off work monday at 4:30 am, (but must sleep that day), then out of town by 3 am tuesday. (through the sac area before the commuters get out on the roads) first night would be a easy 12-14 hr drive, (couple stops), then camp at a mt lake south of wells nv. then thursday-friday see this flaming gorge area. never been to any kind of organized rv event let alone a mass deal. so hoping get there a day early to maybe get a pick of a "better" spot for my mom.
  5. i did believe i was a bit specific as i said "flaming gorge" (so not green river wy---its green lakes in utah.) south east of manila through the dagget and red canyon areas to the bridge and dam. about as good as i get for names of places off google earth. along hwy's 44 and 191.
  6. in june i plan on going to the escapade in spring creek wy, but doing a side trip on the way there to flaming gorge. my mom wants to go, here is the rub, she can not walk very good nor far. has any out there been to any of the camp grounds in this area? thinking green lakes through ceder springs areas. might see about some kind of "off road" wheel chair.
  7. i might keep the “class A” but change over to “ non commerce”. yes lose all endorsements. but no worry's on that. will still be-able to drive or pull any sized rv. in all 50 plus canada. just need that bridge to be built so i can drive to that rock out in the pacific.
  8. a cell phone is a best as you can get. they have gps. and she can talk to the operator. and everyone else she wants to talk to. but she must charge it. and keep it on her person. all of the “life alerts” are the same deal. must keep with you, charge them. but you can not talk to anyone. O and you pay a service fee, and all the taxes. they can only contact the service provider. who then must call 911 for her.
  9. sounds like a class action law suit here. county/town, sheriff not allowing people there birth right as listed in the Constitution of the USA. any and all who have been hurt this way need to contact the governor. any who now will domicile in another state also need to let the governor know that easy money is now gone to another state.
  10. if you really want to get them mad, set up chairs, tables and cold drinks. then sit back and watch the show. and do not forget to post up the videos. some just refuse any/all help. some are just embarrassed to ask, or accept help. some think they know it all.
  11. the ratings are cause ca taxes to the highest limit for each "class". not for the individual gvwl of the car, truck, trailer. i am happy as i have held a commercial class A with air brakes, and double/tripple endorsement, tanker (dropped haz-mat decades back) for 40 years now. when i can retire will drop the commercial part. and still will be good to go pulling most anything.
  12. as for my life "now". i can not volunteer. as the dot rules say i must give my employer a log page for every hr ageist my 60 hrs a week allowed by law. and the the company "rules" about rest, and driver fatigue. yes even out in my yard gardening on my days off, are labeled as NOT resting. now when i retire from a life of driving a rig for pay, sure i can give some of my time for the "odd" job for a site.. and? for a couple months. heck sounds good walking around a camp ground as the dicktatter forcing people to do what i say. (said tongue in cheek).
  13. heck even i still do some tent camping. last time it was up Oregon way rode my bike up there to watch the eclipse.
  14. do one week in the black rock desert.. if you do not bring it. it does not exist. and it is only 5 hrs ( at 75 mph, except in the tribal town) one way to get it.

    WTF Tesla

this is why not self driving cars just can not handle real time problems on the hwy's of this country. and that's not the worst one caught on video.
  16. should read "if you like noisy harleys",, even with the aftermarket muffler"s on my yamaha, and kawasaki both are ten if not one hundred times as quiet as most harleys are. they as a group love loud open pipes and love to rap the throttles a lot. but i would love to get up that way (bike or no bike) to just see the place. thinking sd as my home state when i retire.
  17. pending your set up. a rt angle zerk fitting, (45, and 90 degree out there) longer zerk, cobble up a pipe to move the zerk to a better place, flexible hose for the grease gun, there are "other" hose connections . one looks more like a ink pin, -push up to the little check ball and pump grease in-. one looks like a super huge hypo needle, for those non greaseble tie rods. one looks just like the standard fitting, but is smaller in dia.
  18. there used to be places all over the country that could build you a quality set of springs. they built them right there, and were made better than the chinese made springs. on my jeep they never sagged, the store bought ones failed in a year. but then this j-7 was used for hard rock crawling, and saw heavy abuse. but yes if the main leaf is still one part, just keep on going, just tighten up the center bolt. till you get the correct parts in, (but replace very soon) and if possible get better, stronger then what the factory put in.
  19. ll i was using blocks under my landing legs, to keep the extended legs short, but just this week bolted (and a bit of welding, self taping bolts tended to strip out.) a set of strong arms. will see how they do. so far just in pushing the rv no wiggle. not using the blocks, just the strong arm supports.
  20. if it did not crack window glass, than should not crack a windshield. but try mounting something to the outside, this way the heat is kept off the glass.
  21. understanding. and “ways of doing” are two differnt things. i am only 60, and have seen many a weather change in a way the forecasters failed at. best we humans can do is a best guess as per what has happened in the past 100 or so years. and/of how we think the weather might react. then through in the computer modes (programed by a human).
  22. this year... so far has been a bit cooler the the norm. not many 100F days yet. now last year. that was a different story. needed the ac 24-7. the earth. moon, and sun have a way of doing things is far beond what man can understand. want to cool down a bit, come to northern california. just bring lots of water ( ours is taken away and pumped south to la). and tons of cash as everything cost more than it should.
  23. this thread i started had nothing to do with fire, or exploding tanks, it had to do with preventing theft. maybe time to close this thread as it has gotten way off my topic.
  24. i have seen many a tank. and many videos of tanks getting shot from small cal up to the 50 cal none have exploded. but just fall over sending out a flame through the hole left by the bullet. but what does exploding tanks have to do with my question?
  25. that's why they are called "cell" phones. i would not hold my breath for internet satellite phone access just yet. (price per bit). and who here thinks we need more trash in orbit around this small blue marble? with in 20 years there will be a couple major crashes up there. and make billions of more junk things flying around at 10 of thousands of mph. in 30 years at least one human will die thanks to all the junk up there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_debr http://go.discovery.com/dscovrd/space/this-is-how-much-garbage-weve-left-in-orbit-around-earth/
