  1. Thanks, Chad. Good to know and appreciate the response. Hopefully, ours will be working when we get back to it. Jay
  2. Soooo... What happened?? Did anyone lose their Mobley service? Inquiring minds..... Jay
  3. Let's hope you get a great resolution to your BP issues. Jay
  4. You really need to address this as soon as possible. BP this high means you're losing capillaries and brain cells, plus there's an attendant risk of stroke. All nasty stuff that you really don't need. Please don't wait a second! Jay
  5. Are you just now dealing with BP issues? I've been on BP meds since I was fifty and still pass my annual physical twenty plus years later. It's not a big deal. Just needs proper management. Jay
  6. There are East Coast, West Coast and Kansas rallies where you can learn virtually all you'd like to know. East is in April, Kansas is in Oct., and I forget when West is, since I'm nowhere near there. Plus, there are many "in the wild" where you can introduce yourself and ask questions. Jay
  7. For picture posting, start with this page. Once you've created a link there, strip (remove) the (IMG) front and rear, then use the Other Media link to insert the remaining link. Jay
  8. I imagine you already know you can't just run your device(s) off a solar panel, since the sun and shade are finicky suppliers. You'll need a decent deep cycle battery to actually run your devices, with solar panel(s) to charge them. Something like a Bluetti device would work, for example, although there are much cheaper ways to accomplish your goal. Jay
  9. To start, you need to determine the maximum current draw of the heater to calculate how much solar or alternative power you'll need. Once you know that, you can begin your search for a solution. Jay
  10. Parking tickets might not be worth worrying about, but having your rig towed is. I know of one instance where a truck with trailer was towed from a Columbia, SC Wal-Mart to the tune of $1500.00. I also know of a parking ticket at an OK Wal-Mart for $150.00. I'd rather have the parking ticket than the tow bill. It is pretty common to be at less risk of towing if you're with the vehicle. In my experience, many times the parking restrictions are due to local regulations and not the business in question. Jay
  11. This is very simple. If there doesn't seem to be parking for larger vehicles in the main lot, just go around back and park with the trucks. I've done that for many years with either stepdeck (working) or camper (playing). Jay
  12. I think the point is..... Both.. Jay

    Diesel Gel Issues

Perhaps apples and oranges? Fuel return to the tanks will warm up the fuel and filters enough to liquify the gelled fuel. Once that occurs, the engine can run normally, generating enough heat and horsepower to bring operating temps up to normal. At least, that's my experience. Jay
  14. Thank you. I don't think I would qualify for the lucky and brave part. I'd like to think it represents classic Americana - a vision, tenacity and hard work. Plus, a great wife who fully supported me. Jay
  15. As an OTR owner operator for thirty plus years while also raising a family, I can tell you it's a rewarding and interesting career -- but it's certainly not for everyone. You absolutely have to have the personality and spouse for it. You can try it on for size and see if it works for you. That's really the only way you can know for certain. Good luck! Jay P.S. BTW, in regards to the young unattached man comment, I'm over 70 and still working flatbed freight. Also, my late wife and I were married for forty years. It's all in your goals and motivations.
  16. It's pretty easy. Remove a few screws, then the door panel pops off. It helps if you have one of those plastic panel removal tools. Once you're inside, it's fairly obvious how the pieces come apart. I've completely rebuilt my passenger side door latch mechanism, just waiting for the motivation to do the driver's side door.. Hopefully, the motivation arrives before the door actually breaks... Jay
  17. Low running gear ratings are common in this industry and a regular source of breakdowns and problems. However, in the instance you mentioned, the ratings are taking into account the pin weight. For example, our fifth wheel is very substantially engineered and built, but the axles are 8,000# rating times two, for 16,000#. The GVW is 20,000#, as the pin weight is close to 5000#. Jay
  18. You just never know about Wyoming. We were traveling from Rocky Mnt. Nat. Park to Cheyenne and then on to Salt Lake City in late June of 1976 (?) We were pulling our pop-up camper and I80 was shut down due to heavy snowfall. It was completely unexpected but certainly memorable. Jay
  19. Glenn, check out DIY solar with Will Prowse. He's an interesting young man with an interesting personal story. His YouTube channel is all about solar and batteries. He does actually charge his Tesla from solar and runs most of his home and projects from solar. Probably a lot more involved than most care to do, but it does show that it can be done. Jay
  20. I81 to I40 is likely your most direct route, but I would strongly encourage you to head straight to I10, as recommended. Perhaps through Atlanta to Mobile, AL and then west. Several years ago I ignored my own advice and ran headlong into a winter ice storm in Dallas. You just never know when something really nasty in the way of winter weather will pop up and that can happen as far south as I10. Going that far south will help to minimize the risk. Jay
  21. My Samsung Note 9 has a secure folder which requires a pin to open and can be hidden from the rest of the apps. Inside are a Gallery, Calender, Contacts, Camera, Browser, My Files and Samsung Notes. I store all my sensitive stuff there, away from prying eyes. I would assume many other Samsung devices have the same folder. Jay
  22. I use an app called ColorNote for dozens and dozens of lists. I've had it for many years and it works well for me. However, it doesn't do photos. I keep those in my gallery, in a designated folder. Jay
