Update on Lee: It is sad news. He has a brain tumor and believe this is probably what caused the symptoms of the stroke. Now they feel he may not have had a stroke at all as diagnosed by the doctors in New Mexico. However, they cannot operate. He can't speak and isn't eating. He was originally put in assisted living but is in the hospital now. He will be moved to hospice before long.

This is sad news. As all have said, he has been such a great mentor with such a wealth of knowledge. So sad!

Dang! Not the way any of us would choose to go. I hope he is beyond realizing what is happening. And the hospice people really do provide adequate pain relief. Lee must have a dilly of a headache.

I think snowbird movement has started. Folks are starting to think of heading south again . Even though it's been in the 80's you can still tell fall is in the air. Hoping to see both of you this winter.

Downsizing as we age is good in more than one way. Your decision sounds excellent to me.

I have very sad news. I received an email from Lee's niece this evening.

"Lee passed away yesterday evening in the hospital. He made it 4 weeks in the hospital, but the Doctor said the tumor was pressing on his temporal and frontal lobe and that eventually it would cause him to stop breathing. I'm so sorry to have to give you this news, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate you guys checking in on him this whole time. It means a lot to me, and I know it meant a lot to Lee. "

So sorry to hear that Jeri. We knew it was just a matter of time, but still couldn't force ourselves to believe it. He's sure going to be missed. I don't know how many nights he and I were the last two around the campfire and told war stories until we were both mostly asleep. He would always be the one to post something on the forum just to get the rest of us to wake up and start posting again. He was an inspiration to all of us to keep going, keep camping and keep living. Now he's got a whole new campground to set up in. They'd better have full hook ups in heaven, or they're going to be sorry. Rest in peace IYQ!
