Av8r3400 Posted April 7 Report Share Posted April 7 They are okay, but in a nasty accident today in Montana. Their trailer and car are destroyed and truck is damaged... Copied from Dee's FaceBook: First of all, Jim, myself and the dogs are fine. The ambulance checked us both out. My blood pressure was really high and Jim’s was a little high. We are now homeless and carless. Jim was only doing 35ish on an 80 MPH road. The snow was very wet, slick and slushy. I think there was ice on the road as well. The trailer shimmied. Jim corrected three or four times trying very hard to get us straight but we ended up in the median facing the other way. The truck tipped over but came to rest upright. The trailer and the car didn’t fare so well. Everything we own is inside the trailer, including medicine, clothes, my business stuff, Jim’s business stuff,our computers and more. This happened at mile marker 467.5 on I-90 west about 20 miles from Billings, Montana (our destination). But Jim’s crew are angels. They came and got all the work stuff out of the car, took us to a motel and later to get a rental car. They are wonderful! I’ll keep everyone updated. I’m so glad God and Jim kept us from getting injured. This could have been so much worse. Darryl&Rita Posted April 7 Report Share Posted April 7 We came through on I-15 today, and road conditions were much better than this. That's a horrible thing to have happen. Hopefully the contents are recoverable, as the trailer looks pretty hurt. No blood equals a minor inconvenience in our travels, but the heartburn and heartache will make you suffer. When our truck was totaled, it seemed like things were very slow in the process. We needed to heal from being hit twice from the same tractor trailer. Ended up on our side. We were out for dinner, so we did not have the fifth wheel with use. we did have a place to live. But finding a truck was one thing. Get a bed and hitch on it was another subject. Make sure you are good health wise. And the puppies, I see one in the truck looking out. One thing I did learn from our ordeal, was to contact where everything was towed to. They should leave you in the vehicles to get things out. You also need to talk with the insurance company to see what is covered, for extra things you installed in the RV as extra Stuff. If it is not covered, Can you remove it. That is if you want to or not. I would suggest getting what you can asap. In our situation where other vehicles were involved, we were not allowed to take pictures of the other vehicles that were in the tow yard. We’re you planning on staying in the Billings area for a while. Or was it just a quick stop. We are in western Montana so if you want me to look at any Rv stuff out our way, I will.
