  1. Cleaned, vacuumed and scrubbed the vinyl floor in preparation for the trip to Crossville. Tomorrow I'll pack up all my tools and supplies and well be ready to go...
  2. They are okay, but in a nasty accident today in Montana. Their trailer and car are destroyed and truck is damaged... Copied from Dee's FaceBook: First of all, Jim, myself and the dogs are fine. The ambulance checked us both out. My blood pressure was really high and Jim’s was a little high. We are now homeless and carless. Jim was only doing 35ish on an 80 MPH road. The snow was very wet, slick and slushy. I think there was ice on the road as well. The trailer shimmied. Jim corrected three or four times trying very hard to get us straight but we ended up in the median facing the other way. The truck tipped over but came to rest upright. The trailer and the car didn’t fare so well. Everything we own is inside the trailer, including medicine, clothes, my business stuff, Jim’s business stuff, our computers and more. This happened at mile marker 467.5 on I-90 west about 20 miles from Billings, Montana (our destination). But Jim’s crew are angels. They came and got all the work stuff out of the car, took us to a motel and later to get a rental car. They are wonderful! I’ll keep everyone updated. I’m so glad God and Jim kept us from getting injured. This could have been so much worse.
  3. Picked up Thunderstruck from her annual maintenance and inspection visit. New oil, filters, and a thorough inspection from a far smarter-than-me group of experts. She got a clean bill of health for this seasons shenanigans...
  4. Don't forget to wind it and loose track of when it's time to take your pill...
  5. I'm with Auto Owners and they have no issue with bob-tail operation. I live in in Wisconsin.
  6. I prefer to post the photo in a separate photo album, like www.imgur.com, then use the link. (
  7. I am with Auto Owners insurance. For my home, cars, RV and the Big Truck. When our truck was hit by lightning (2022), they not only paid for the HDT tow to a Volvo dealer 30 miles away, but also paid for the repairs to the truck totaling almost $70,000. They not only renewed me (twice), with only a small market increase in the premium since then, but did not require me to change the $100 deductible. As a side note, in the fall of 2022 my wife hit a deer with her car adding another $7500 claim to our policy that year and they still didn't cancel us.

When I was abducted by aliens, they gave me the solution to cold fusion and artificial gravity. Then we started drinking tequila and I kinda forgot what they said...

The 5.7L GM diesel was based off the Oldsmobile gas engine block - Fact. They even marketed a smaller 4.3 (260") V8 and 4.3 (262") V6 version also off the gas engines.
  11. Finally making a stand for your pedestal grinder? (Laying on it's side)
  12. Alway glad to speak to new people. Come look us up in site 302! (Larry & Julie)
  13. I did my truck at 48". This was a huge mistake. My Momentum Toy Hauler is more like 52-54". I wound up needed to extend and modify the pin box on the trailer to get it to ride level. I'd highly suggest measuring your pin height at level to see what you really need.
  14. Our home is slightly smaller (about 3000') and I would not even consider an LP generator without adding a 2nd 1000G propane tank in our situation. My research has pushed me toward a 20KW size unit and they burn approximately 2.5 GPH of propane. That's 60 gallons per day. If it kicks in, mid winter when your 1000 (800 usable) tank is half full, that's less than a weeks run time, factoring in LP usage for heat, hot water, cooking, etc. If I had GeorgiaHybrid's money (first off, I'd just burn mine) but I would definitely go with a big diesel tank and Genny per his suggestion....
  15. I've thought about this. But the idea or running my Kubota at PTO speed for days or longer is not something I want to do. I may consider it as supplemental power if needed, but not as a whole house gen-set.
  16. As I put on Facebook, this is a video of my old Carbon 364 on my ET senior. It's also a 16k gross trailer, but it was between 3000 and 3500 pin weight. As I mentioned on Facebook I would suggest confirming that 2200 pound pin weight. That's only 12% of a 16k trailer and even for a poorly designed RV, that is really light.

If you can pee enough gallonage to make a difference, go for it bud...
  18. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Blessed New Year to all of our HDT/RV/Enthusiast family.
  19. We're not going to be there until the 20th, but can certainly swing through Sam's and get plates, cups and plasticware, if that would help...
  20. Thanks Rick, I do agree that our truck does ride fantastic. I would stack our singled Volvo VNL 730, with air ride front suspension and Legacy Pinnacle seats against my wife's Mercedes in ride quality any day. (Rick - you've ridden in both so you can testify)
  21. This is exactly correct, Rick. The F150-F550 all use the same cab. The same goes for GM and Ram. The F650 & 750 use the "old" style steel body "Super Duty" cabs. Good luck finding a 650 or 750 that is not a vinyl seat rubber floor type truck unless you have a complete custom conversion done.
  22. I like our short rig for our part-time lifestyle. If we were to full time, I would definitely want a longer wheelbase to do a Smart car or some other small vehicle on the bed of the truck. As a part-timer we pull a toy hauler so we carry a vehicle in the trailer for our needs, UTV or more recently a Suzuki Samurai.
  23. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our HDT community.
