Rick M
We have an eclectus parrot that we would like to take on extended trips. Any suggestions on what type of cage etc. Best works best for a 5th wheel? Thanks Rick
TXiceman
We travel in our 40 foot 5th wheel and 1 ton dually truck with a Timneh African Gray. He has a small travel cage that takes up about 1/3 of the trucks back seat. For the RV we have a regular 24" x 30" powder coated cage for him. When on the road, we wrap the larger cage in a moving pad and lay it on floor between the slides. What size works best depends on the size of your RV. Thanks Rick A search in RV.Net (for "parrots") in the forum "RV Pet Stop"- last 12 months - only brings up one post/thread - which was entertaining - OP went to a wild life refuge (took an outdoor walk) with two cats, two dogs, and two parrots. Then a search for same in the "archives" (posts over 12 months old) brings up 142 posts !! Didn't even start reading them - but some involved parrots. . sandsys
Nancy Kissack travels with a parrot. Her blog is at https://kissackadventures.blogspot.com but her search engine is not a good one so you may have to read a lot to find out more about how Jonathon travels. Vladimir
We were suppose to be flying to Hawaii, when weather grounded the planes and all the highway passes to Seattle were closed. So we took off to go through the Columbia River Gorge and ran into a young lady at the rest area with the military that was moving to Ft. Lewis with her parrot. Her back seat was covered with tarps and the parrot sat on a homemade perch. She was worried about the snow and crossing the passes. So I gave her a FRS radio and we took off. It was funny hearing the parrot when we talked to her on the radio!! Anyway, traveling with a parrot is probably easier than traveling with a dog. 2gypsies
Hope your traveling parrot does well! Be aware that if you're in RV parks you'll most likely have close neighbors.
