Wrknrvr
I am curious as to how many smart cars it would take to carry 1 ton of tools and parts. As I use a jeep yj for service work, people keep saying I should use a smart car. I am curious as to how many it would take to do this. Safe Travels,. Darryl&Rita
Too many! I seem to recall seeing 300 kg, including passenger(s), but don't quote me on that. This was for a 450 model, but I don't recall the newer models. I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again. 2000 Kenworth T 2000 w/N-14 and 10 speed Gen1 Autoshift, deck built by Star Fabrication 2006 smart fourtwo cdi cabriolet 2007 32.5' Fleetwood QuantumPlease e-mail us here. Parrformance
I have used my Jeep TJ to move my Travel Trailer around in an especially tight CG, can't do that with a smart. 2006 Volvo VNL 780, " Arvey" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2010 Forest River Coachman Freedom Express 280RLS Jackalopee
Imurphy907
you carry 2,000 lbs of tools in your 2 door jeep? Is that a YJ? The curb weight is around 3,000 lbs. I don't see that thing having a GVW over 5k or it handling that weight very well. 2016 Road Warrior 420 2001 Volvo VNL 660 Alaska Based.
Brad & Jacolyn
I don't know about weight but I know you can carry a new Splendide dryer in the back of a smart and close the hatch. Or a vari#200 dog crate and close the hatch. Wrknrvr
Yes I carry about 2000 lbs of tools and parts in a yj. It has been smart weighed twice just to see its total weight. The one seen on the back of our Volvo. It has a Chevy 350 in it. A sm465 granny gear transmission. Michelin Xps rib 235/85r/16 tires. Air shocks on front and rear axles. Plus a few other modifications I have done to it. I will soon have traveled 200,000 miles in this capacity. It has over 300,000 miles on it. How many Smart would equal this jeep. Load it until it breaks, unload 2 lbs, drive away. YJ's were totally underappreciated Jeep models, given they bridged a lot of new technology introductions. Carb to fuel injection, electronic ignition, etc. GeorgiaHybrid
You know, I bought a big old KW to haul my tools and the thought of putting them in my smart never crossed my mind. I doubt that your YJ would even hold 20% of the tools in my shop, hell, I doubt that it would carry my air compressor. So the entire point of your post is what? 2023 Thor Magnitude XG32

Star Dreamer
507# payload so guess that means four smarts to do 2000# or you could pull a trailer as long as max trailer weight is 727# and tongue weight is 66# you might only need three but you would also need three trailers! 2005 Freightliner Century S/T, Singled, Air ride ET Jr. hitch 2019 46'+ Dune Sport Man Cave custom 5th wheel toy hauler Owner of the 1978 Custom Van "Star Dreamer" which might be seen at a local car show near you!
