Kirk W
That wouldn't be surprising. When we lived in Cheyenne, WY it was very common for our first snowfall in town to take place before the end of September.
Alie&Jim's Carrilite
Yup- Last year Billings had 5" of wet snow in late September. Snow melted but the temps never came back up to "Nice" fall weather.
Pat & Pete
Not surprising that the passes could have snow , as here in North Central Illinois it's been what the locals call 'unseasonably cool' . For us , being from mid Michigan , it's been just right . But , all things considered , I think it'll be , at least , a colder Winter for this part of the country . LindaH
Hopefully, the cooler weather and snow will help firefighters get a handle on all the fires burning across the state!
freestoneangler
My wife just went to Dillon for groceries and said nice large, wet, slushy flakes were falling. The weather changed yesterday like someone flipped a switch. We're also getting good amounts of rain throughout the region which will definitely help the wildfires. bobsallyh
Yep, freestoneangler, your Dillon story brings back memories from about 5 to 7 years ago. We were at Clark Canyon Dam for the big Labor Day weekend. Went to the rodeo on Friday and real hot. On Monday went to the Firemen's' breakfast and parade in Dillon. It was drizzling on our way in from Clark. Went to the breakfast and a couple that came down from Butte said they about an inch of white stuff on the ground when they left. Watched the parade from the parking lot of, I believe King's, in the truck cab. When we got back to the dam, the peaks were white and it was ugly. That was the basis for what was a new rule at that time. "We will be out of Montana the Tuesday following Labor Day" And that has held ever since then..
