alan0043
Hi Everyone, I am looking for the aluminum step material that is on the trucks. I call it grip strut. Some people might call it cat walk material. I have a future project in mind. The future project is part of the bed build. The size that I am looking for is between 4 1/2 to 5" wide x 13 1/2" long. I will be making two. If there is one piece 27" or longer, it will work out just fine. I am not in any hurry. I can always be P/M. Thank you for any help, Al 2012 Volvo VNL 630 w/ I-Shift; D13 engine; " Veeger " Redwood, model 3401R ; 5th Wheel Trailer, " Dead Wood " 2006 Smart Car " Killer Frog "

ALLOY
Another brand name is Diamond Grip.....also referred to as cheese grater material. It can be made from .080" and .100" material. Not really and issue for 4"-5" wide but the center of .080" x 7 1/2" wide will collapse over time. It is best to used new grating. With use alum grating work hardens. Then it starts to crack. I have several pieces that are .100" x 2" x 11 3/4" x 20" long but nothing less. Also a metal recycler may have some. There is Safety Grip but round holes go smooth over time and it becomes slippery. It would be nice if there was a good hdt scrap yard in my area. I would be there all the time. I think junk yards are cool. noteven
Hi alan0043 - in the commercial truck world what you are asking for is called "deck plate" - used to deck the frame rails so drivers can stand safely on top of the rails to connect trailer connections. On a KW they are 34in wide by 12in pieces - if the truck is ordered with multiple ft they can be welded together. They have a welded nut each end that allows a piece of flat bar to pinch the frame from below to hold them in place. Aluminium. "Are we there yet?" asked no motorcycle rider, ever.
