grendel
So, Rooster left with no ETA for coming back. First, I had it towed to a nice warm shop while RB was here: I've been working on this myself, since my kids like it so much and it's stuff I can do, just didn't want to. This is where I took it over: So, in a nutshell, the project's back on. I got the front corners on, had to build a framework to take the corner, by bending 2" flat stock And fit the corner nice and tight. Also, started noodling on the clutch linkage with the air ride frame. They wanted to live in the same location: But I got the corners Huck bolted in and TIG welded on more trim to make it look more finished. Then started on the floor/dog house: This is what I worked with: Started by cutting and bending 1/8" steel Built custom tabs for the clutch linkage, instead of the Peterbuilt box, also linkage had to go above the floor and will get a box around the back pivot and a boot on the front. The clutch arm is now the pedal: and built the dog house. It looks tight, but isn't really. The seating position moved back quite a bit. I still have to mount the tilt/telescoping column from the Pete 379 that will make it even more comfy. Total time so far is about 20 hours. Still thinking the Super10 may go away in favor of an Allison, which would allow me to move the pedals over to the right. Any thoughts on that? Broncohauler
I'm glad to see you back at it? Hopefully your able to work it out with RB. But what you've done looks great. Keep the pictures coming, it's been a little boring around here.

Star Dreamer
I would do a automatic. Your pedals seem too close together for my feet. grendel
Most of them come with their own transmission control unit, for the ones I am considering. The pedals, brake and fuel are as Peterbuilt does them in a 379 and many of their other models. It's not bad, actually.
Broncohauler
With a blank canvas I would go Allison. I'm sure you can handle a super10 no problem. But if your not driving one everyday, it dose take up a lot of your focus. And with kids on board you already have your hands full?
jkennell
The S10 is fine on the highway. NOT so fun travelling thru towns. I'd say that if all you plan to use this for is to tow a trailer on the Hiway to a park and camp there for a week or more--stick with manual. If you plan to use the truck as a daily driver, or your wife likes to travel every day between little country towns and out of the way State Parks (like mine)...go Auto. The extra fuel you burn is nothing compared to the stress of shifting at every stop light, while the kids make snarky comments when you miss one. No camper at present. Way too many farm machines to maintain.
grendel
Sorry, I've been slacking at this thread, but not the project. If you're over on Pirate4x4.com it's up to date for the most part. We're pretty close to done on the body phase, until we get the truck running. Then I can build some side cabinets and hang fenders.

grendel
Still slowly pushing this big rock up hill. Built a road side door for it, <Jim> really is a motor coach now. Obviously, some of the trim's on and we finished the lower cabinets. Working the front end now: An over all shot, but not level, not the rear suspension, nor the air ride cab/body Got the nose figured out, now making side panels that would do a <T> proud. Also, acquired stock fenders, so going with those, so it looks more <T> like. Now getting it completely plumbed and running...

grendel
We're still working on this, here and there. A whole lot more going on. Funny thing, since we started this, my personal truck, we finished several other trucks. This sort of sleeper, on an air ride chassis, on an air ride sub frame, with a classic cab but modern drive train and brakes. Bare interiors, so you get exactly what you want. So this gets worked on when we have time. We did a serpentine belt set up on the Cat 3406B. They never had one from the factory, in any configuration, so we made templates if someone else wants one. Kenny at IdaCamper started working on the interior design: https://www.facebook.com/IdaCamper/photos/pcb.1874642499448097/1874641036114910/?type=3&theater The double seats on the passenger side will fold down into a queen size bed. bigstick
Nice job on the belts! Keep a copy of this photo in the truck and handy. Can't count the times I have been broke down and trying to figure out how the belts go back on. Probably a good idea to carry some spare idlers, or atleast keep the part numbers handy
