  1. But the dogs were usually better behaved...
  2. I've used Dinosaur boards in a number of applications, and I've also never had one fail. When the potted OEM board on our Atwood water heater released its magic smoke last winter in Florida, I didn't even think about it, I just ordered a Dinosaur UIBS along with a mounting kit from Amazon for the quickest delivery. In the interim, I borrowed the ignitor board from our then unneeded bedroom Hydroflame furnace. Oh, and I also ordered an extra UIBS for my spares kit.
  3. No... I had to upsize the SIM with an adapter for the older Unite 770s, but it's the right size for the Unite Explore 815s. My AT&T account shows the Explore as the current device. Oh, and I did have a SIM problem a few weeks when it stopped registering to my account and blocked my service. A call to tech support determined the SIM had failed, but a quick stop at an area AT&T store got that replaced. Nothing was said by tech support or the store about what device the SIM belonged in. No surprise, the store rep did try to sell me a Nighthawk upgrade though.
  4. We vote in nearly every election, including for local offices and proposals/bonds. We feel that we should vote on the local issues, since our "exit plan" cottage and our mail service are in the same voting district.
  5. If your RV is equipped with a common Atwood Hydroflame 85 or 8900 series furnace, the circuit board can be used as a temporary substitute to test the water heater operation. The only functional difference will be a ~20 second delay before the heater fires up. The board won't fit properly, so just make sure it doesn't short to anything during testing.
  6. We typically hit around 150 GB/mo, although we have run it up to 200 on occasion. Our Mobley SIM has been installed in a Netgear Unite and now a Unite Explore for the past year with no complaints from AT&T.
  7. Oops! My apologies for "stirring the pot"...
  8. My wife and I always wipe down the handle and seating area of grocery carts with sanitizer wipes. We've seen more snotty nosed kids in dirty diapers in carts than dogs in the carts.
  9. Our Max Amp is still doing the job in fringe areas, but I don't know how well it works with some of the new bands now in use. So far, anywhere we've been that AT&T was significantly weaker than Verizon, it still supported streaming with minimal buffering, sometimes with help from the Max Amp. I've also noticed that we now have good AT&T service in several locations that I had previously listed as no or very weak service for them, so apparently they're continuing to expand coverage.
  10. You're right, Bill, but the combination does cover more of "everywhere" than anyone else...
  11. Business owners already have that option. Only service animals have nearly unlimited access to businesses. Emotional support animal access is purely voluntary on the businesses part within any other restrictions such as health laws. On edit: I should add that some regulated public access businesses such as the airlines, do have regulations permitting ESA's on board in addition to service animals.
  12. Your results roughly mirror our results in the 18 east coast parks we've been in so far this year. We don't have the satellite option though, nor have we hit any parks where we had no cell service at all so far. We found only a few parks with reliable WiFi, and of those only one fast enough for streaming. As for AT&T vs Verizon, yes, we're pretty close there, with every park favoring one or the other for speed, but most having strong enough signals on both that either service would have been ok. Just as you concluded, with a little more history to go by, we too may drop our Verizon plan in favor of our AT&T Mobley unlimited plan. We would still have our Verizon/Tracfones to fall back on for tethering if really needed somewhere.
  13. Like Barb, our bi-level wired backup camera system is very useful when parking, as well as for checking on the toad in transit. With our low view camera, I can check on the entire tow bar system from the rear bumper back.
  14. We stay at KOA's often enough while in transit that our accumulated points have more than paid for our membership all but the first year we joined. KOA's for the most part are privately owned RV parks with some very nice, some just nice, and some not so nice. Just like all other RV parks...
  15. Perhaps if you had capitalized the name in your post, left out the space, and included a link, we might have had a better idea what you were referring to... The Mobileye system
  16. Once the initial upload is completed, only the changes need to be transferred. We average ~150 GB/mo on our unlimited plans, including maintaining cloud based file backups on two laptops, two tablets, and two smart phones.
  17. Yes, Elon has mentioned the "pizza box" antenna/receiver a number of times. It will be interesting to see how adaptable it is to portable RV use rather than just RV roof use. It won't need aiming, but it will need a clear sky view.
  18. I've seen a $50/mo price point mentioned, but I don't know any particulars as to speed, caps, etc.
  19. I have a shared hosting web server that I use for client site development. I installed a free cloud server program on it for our personal use and have all my important files, including my photos and videos, backed up to it with automatic updating. https://www.ionos.com https://nextcloud.com
  20. I agree the spot beam maps don't change much over time, but enough other items on "The List" have changed, that it's really quite out of date overall.
  21. RV TV's are standard TV's, the same kind you can buy at Walmart, Amazon, etc.
  22. Scott retired "The List" and associated links since they were getting too far out of date to be reliable. The fellow that used to maintain it just up and disappeared quite awhile ago, and no one has come forward to take it over. The spot beam maps are still there, but when you get the blank graphic, you need to right click on it and copy the address to your clipboard. Then paste the link into your browser's address bar, changing "thelist" to "retired" before hitting enter. Yes, it's awkward, but it will get you there.
  23. I think common sense dictates that a "Pets welcome" store policy extends only to domestic pets. But then we know how uncommon "common sense" can be sometimes. I'm reminded of a humorous sign posted by a motel: "Pets Welcome!" "Except bears... We won't make that mistake again."
  24. 119 CONUS and spot beam coverage: http://jameslong.name/e119.html
  25. Yep, it's particularly a problem with our RAV4 that has a side opening rear door rather than a hatchback.
