  1. Maybe I don't understand this yet. I don't need to see what the mail says. I just want to see what is coming as that would be useful enough in most cases. I think I will check into it further. Thanks
  2. Yeah right. !!!!!!!! I hope you aren't holding your breath.
  3. If only they had a rubber hammer to damage and anvil they could do it. Like my meds. situation. Last mile would have worked but just the wrong person at the wrong spot caused a problem. I know they had a new driver on the route that knew what to do but somebody at the next level wouldn't let it get to him. If you are dealing with a reliable local PO you might try using the actual street address of the PO.-- Post Master 120 Dingle dr City. state zip and pre notify the PO to watch for it. All depends on your PO and their employees.
  4. We may all end up so protected that it may take forever for us to go "dust to dust"
  5. Boy good luck hemsteadc. Btw just looked at your profile and noticed your interest. I must be driving you crazy almost as much as the post office.😀
  6. DavidCD, in case I missed it how is this going to affect your sleeping situation? The mention of clothing seems so simple but so relevant. Lots of good info here. One issue I have had for a long time even without the current situation is cutting toenails and foot care. Being a tough Marine (once upon a time) I haven't been able to make myself go to a nail salon. (I knew I needed a wife for something)
  7. This guy I believe has a VA pension and some scuttlebutt is it is for PTSD related to Viet Nam service so it could be true. I had been around the guy many times without noticing but another Vet spoke to some people at a table where he was and I was with a couple of other vets and noticed it right off. Better vision maybe. He later asked some of us about it later but none of us knew. I have had to call this guy out on some other issues in the past but I don't call people out about their service unless I know what I am talking about. Once he was being critical about another veterans service who is now a politician. I told him call out anything else about him you want but not his service unless you were with him under fire Especially based on anecdotal evidence. He didn't know what anecdotal evidence meant. I guess I could sort of see why you might give out an Honorary to someone like Bob Hope IE so there surely are others like maybe Dr's or Nurses, etc.
  8. Fortunately the biggest problem for now is pretty short lived but I am thinking about anything that could happen in the future. I have a young friend that completely uses a wheel chair that rises on a winch to the bed of his truck. Because of my temporary deal it made me think about how he goes about gasing up his vehicles if he is alone. I could barely get in the drivers side last week on my truck and I was thinking back to when you could get someone to pump your gas. I could not think of a single place in this area that you could go to now. I think Oregon or Wash. St. still does. I meant to call him and ask him about it sooner but forgot. If memory doesn't fail me I will ask soon. Last year I left a little ahead of him and we had a pretty good snow so I cleared his windshield after mine which is hard enough. Otherwise he might have had to sit there and idle on defrost a long time to clear that much with windshield wiper. I can learn but sometimes I am pretty slow. I guess it often doesn't dawn on us until it affects us or someone we know more closely.
  9. Good thought. I am reserving judgement on someone I know until I get some facts.
  10. Anyone ever heard of an Honorary Purple Heart and maybe who could have one. If so who would "award" one?
  11. I remember some of that but not all the details at the moment. As you know it could all come back to me in 5 minutes or 5 years. I often appreciate the same joke over and over since I often forget it. For my friend I just think it was a hell of way to start your time. (put nicely)
  12. Sometimes it is hard to hear it but I tend to pay more attention to those that this is what we know up to now rather than this is the total answer from here on out. In 1999 I had pnumonia shot that was supposed be for a lifetime. Since then I have at least two newer versions. Last Tues. I got started on the new 2 shot version of the shingle shot after already having one in the past.
  13. minor thread hijack, You just made me remember a friend from elementary school on. I think he was army crew chief on one brand oh Huey. On his literal 1st day day in country they were flying back to where their base was and got shot down. Good pilot and good luck they all survived with some injuries but mostly walk away's. Some one on the bird that picked them up took a picture in air and it had burned almost a completey up as could happen. Hard to think of but he had 364 days and a wake up after that. He did make it home but have not seen him since the early 70's Again sorry about the hijack but sometimes I just have to go with a memory when it comes. Now back to Tesla- trying not to remember I was one who didn't buy in when RV advised us all. OK to gloat some more RV, good job.
  14. Sounds like you have not heard of "the last mile" delivery deal a lot shippers have with the USPS. This is a real deal. I have never bought anything from Amazon but I'm pretty sure I have read that it has happened with some of their shipments even when instructed to send a certain way. It was on the forum I first heard of this from participants here. I had a medical shipment that was supposed to go to a local rural P.O. and was shipped UPS which has last mile to this P.O. It was in a cold pack and the P.O. was able to take it for me to pick up in person. UPS wouldn't do last mile for this one and it got lost in their system. There are glitches everywhere for stupid reasons. Fedex pays one of my children a butt load of money but that didn't stop them from screwing up important paper work involve tags and titles from the tax office in Livingston. They would not pick it up there. It was an independent fedex contractor. If someone could have put it in a local fedex drop box everything would have gone smoothly.
  15. Have I missed you saying at least in general where this is occurring? I know one place I go causes me some mostly minor issues. It took me a while to figure it out but once I did I could control it pretty easy most of the time. It was in very low humidity and lots of dust. Plenty of pollen too but I believe it to be mostly the dryness and dust. I hope someone can help you find an answer. As for venting, you are preaching to the choir. I personally have a love/hate relationship with the VA.
  16. My current issues is Knee on left side, hip on right. There is almost no distance between the toilet and shower so I can't keep the knee straight. I put an upended five gal. bucket to give some way to help push up. The sink cabinet on the other side helps but the height is wrong so of limited help. Knee is getting better by the day but the hip won't be ok until it is cut on some day. I can do a sink bath for now as long as I can keep everything straight up. Reliable handrails on the outside steps would be a real boon. Canes and crutches seem to get in the way there.
  17. Are you using escapees forwarding. I was about to ask if it is eligible and would it just show what we receive at our escapees address. Still would be useful.
  18. What about stairs Wayne? I have just a temporary issue that is making it difficult to get in and out the door of my pretty low travel trailer. And the position of my toilet has caused a pain issue and getting down and up. Great that you are a couple.
  19. I can't answer but since you show to be a brand new member I thought I would point out depending on when folks are on the forum you could get some suggestion quickly or it could take some time. Welcome to Escapees forum.
  20. First you have to pledge to practice driving on the correct side of the road.😁 Welcome aboard the Escapees site. It will be helpful. I volunteered at a national park campground that was near Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, DC. A lot of people shipped their rvs to the port of Baltimore. They would usually stay few days with us when their rv came in and when they got ready to leave they would stay with us while waiting for the boat that they were shipping it back on. Most of these were small rvs like camper vans. I expect you will be looking for something larger
  21. Nammedevac, Maybe you will see this or maybe you won't but have you considered that RV. me, or anyone else knows who you are talking to or about. On the flat printed page it is easily read as an insult to anyone that reads it without some explanation or context. As much as I respect what you have done it actually sort of makes me more put out because I Know you are smarter than that. I have some issues and you may or may not have issues but since none of us really know you all we can use is what you say and the "tone" of what you say. I flat out know some of us can get testy and get on each others nerves but there really doesn't seem to me any reason to always denigrate each other. Just my observation for what it is worth which probably isn't much to many. No matter what I wish you the best.
  22. we r closer to agreement on at least one point
  23. They die instantly but it is now"open" to where someone approaching for some reason like to see if the person is dead or what ever. Plus no solution to vandalism. Again I would be tickled to death to use nuclear if we could solve these problems in a way I could really trust and not just more of the trust me I know what I am doing and I know what is best for everyone. You obviously know a lot but at this point you are not selling me on your product. Still listening and watching though.
  24. I am wondering what physical size a "tiny" nuclear power set up would be. What would it take to protect it from theft or vandalism. I know only and idiot would mess with one but lets face it we have a lot of idiots out there. There are dumb ones and some highly intelligent ones. Should we think about stuff like this before we just start building and put them out there. If a giant nuclear plant can fail or be breeched surely the "tiny" ones can suffer the same.
