  1. Well, resurrect this one for a little while. Just picked up my upper and lower hose, thermostat and associated gaskets and O rings. A mechanic told me that the filter housing is leaking, but Volvo said it is probably only an o-ring and not the housing. That's good news - the housing is a $600 part! Was told I should consider another flush (after the one when the injector cup failed) but to follow it up with water flushes at least 3 times before refilling with coolant. $204 per flush. Coolant and flush extra! I'm going to nurse it back down to the valley and then consider what to do. It used two gallons during a 1500 mile trip. It did have a crack in the res. tank. That was replaced in CA. Hoping it's just the leak at the filter now.
  2. Rick, I too will be popping my mirror switch out again to see if I can make it work. My passenger side mirror has always been an issue. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't (mostly doesn't when parking the rig on a blind side backup)! After reading all y'all's posts, I'm thinking about just switching my switches! I never have to move my driver side, so if it is the switch only that is the problem, that should take care of that. I will give the both a shot of contact cleaner though. I have the '01 like you.
  3. Rick, did you find a strap loose, or have your car shift on the bed when using them?
  4. Well, I'm glad Jack posted those pictures because I really wasn't wanting the reload my car to take some pics for y'all. That is exactly what mine look like when strapped down. Nice pics.
  5. I've been using mine since I picked up a set from Jack and Marc my last time up at their place. Much easier to use and I would imagine not any more stress on alignment than the baskets were. May need some jacking up if the strap happens to come right across the valve stem. But not really a problem. There is a softer shoulder type strap that comes in contact around the actual wheel. Sheri was surprised that I unloaded the car in about 20 minutes today!
  6. Wow Brad!!!! If I were there with you, I could actually help you do this because it's someplace where I don't have to crawl under the dash of my smart to get to!!!! Also check the door control button for some rust from any rain that might have dropped in there. Good luck. I'm probably going to need to replace my passenger mirror.
  7. Congratulations Dave! Now you just have to git-er-done!

    Tinker Week?

Rick, you do have about every tool, new and old, so that might be a good idea! If you could just keep that water away from the campground!!! Don't remember what month we were there, maybe Steve knows.
  9. I run mission trips into Mexico a few different times during the year, and will be down here for a few months at a time getting things set up. Take a look at the link in my signature.
  10. Working in Reynosa??? What will you be doing? Where will it be? I am in and out of Reynosa a lot.
  11. Chad, it sounds like you are doing a great job planing everything. Keep it up bro. This helps a lot of folks out there.
  12. I'm all for smartmadness for the purchase of the Cruise Control. But Jim, your memory is getting pretty foggy! 😟 My good friend Brad😉 has all the skills (and body size) to install.😎 I won't be installing much for quite some time yet. Just started upper body exercises at rehab yesterday! 6 more weeks to go and then I'll be able to play football! That's kind of like "Will I be able to play the piano after hand surgery?"!!!!!!!
  13. Sorry I'm seeing this late, but with that spin on filter, there have been problems with the prior o-ring still being there! Hopefully it came out with the filter when you changed it out. The other look for is when it does start, what are you getting out of the exhaust? Any changes in color? Good luck.
  14. We stayed at Rusty's RV Ranch this past July for a few days while passing thru. Really enjoyed the quiet times there. Nice setup for all of us!
  15. They always stay north of the border. We have a few work trucks and rental vans that go south.
  16. We have been down in the Rio Grande Valley since around the 1st of November getting ready to lead all the Mission Trips into Mexico. Leaving tomorrow for the border so I won't be around much here for awhile. Be safe everybody, and get out of that cold stuff!!!!
  17. Depending on which air system you are on, get rid of all air everywhere so the lines aren't pressurized. Pump your brakes if need be (as Carl and I found out).
  18. Exactly with Carl said! He taught me!
  19. Roger, was that a 2015? Glad they took care of your landing legs. I would imagine there was no cost to you? Like I said at the Rally, they were taking care of a lot of people.
  20. Just pulled in and got set up back at Hillsdale State Park Lake, south of Olathe, Kansas. Will be here until we leave on the 3rd for the Rally.
  21. What they both said! The only thing I would add is to check those items that you really don't need to be on. Like the hot water heater. Switch from electric to gas. Not using the microwave? Shut the breaker off. I'm thinking when on a 15 amp plug, or even a 20 amp, you are really "camping" and you should think that way even in our rigs with all the fancy stuff. JMHO. If you have a gen. system, well then you have more flexibility.
