  1. Depending on the size of the bladders and if they were completely full or partial you would have the potential for "Sloshing" which can be very unnerving and potentially dangerous. Internal baffles can tame said sloshing. Reread some of the post's above and saw the one about the Queen sized waterbed mattress. Remember those? Initially no baffles known as "Full Motion" then they came out with "Motionless" with multiple baffles. If you tried one in your youth, which one did you like the best? Rod
  2. The first sentence I read was they were not for potable water. I next read that some of them are only built to be stationary. Final issue for me is there doesn't seem to be a way to secure them and I doubt they have internal baffles. I would not use them. I did inquire about bladders used in ship building and they can be custom sized and have securement areas. The spot I thought would be big enough viewing didn't measure out to be worth the trouble. I might do a well pressure tank. Used them for many years on the "Farm". But I'm still a ways away from wanting to boondock much. Maybe I never will "Need" to. Rod
  3. Got a reminder of where I had hoped to be a little bit ago. Was finishing up my test for ACLS. Maybe if I had done it last weekend Tuesday would have turned out different and the truck would have started and all would be good. That's the thing about procrastination, by the time you realize you almost waited too long. Something comes up to reinforce it. Have a good Rally. I will be there soon as I can. Rod
  4. Where did you put it? When full it could weigh almost 1000 lbs. according to my calculation. Rod
  5. Find a local tire dealer where you are and have a discussion of what you are doing and the travel you expect to do. Sure you can purchase a round piece of rubber for less money from an online retailer, but what type of person is advising you? Someone who sits in front of a computer like I'm doing right now. Typing an answer to your question. They are hoping you will accept the answer as fact and it will encourage you to purchase the product from the company they are working for. Branded tire shops are almost a thing of the past. There used to be a "Firestone" store a "Goodyear" store, maybe a "Goodrich" or a "Cooper" in town. If you thought one brand was better you visited that store and they took care of you . Now a quick google search turned these up for "Truck Tires" 1. Michelin 2. Goodyear 3. BF Goodrich 4. Continental 5. Cooper 6. Bridgestone 7. Falken 8. Yokohama 9. Toyo Tires 10. Pirelli I recently put several new tires on my rig. Second or third time since obtaining my truck. Sad point is the tires had full tread remaining, but were over 7 years old and had some sidewall checking. My younger brother is my tire guy and I'd rather buy from him than from where ever I might be if I have a "Blowout", so I replaced them. He will sell the tires to Farmer's who will get a lot more years out of the tires and maybe wear one or two of them out. I decided to go with the least expensive tires this time. I have high quality steers, but the drive tires are the least expensive he could get at the time. It's a daunting task trying to sort out the tires. Hopefully you can develop a relationship with a local dealer who can advise you and be there if something happens with those tires. My first big purchase were tires for my new to me Toyhauler in 2007 or 8. Six new ones wanted "His best". Got some Goodyear's and made two trips to Florida. On the way back 3 blow outs before escaping the State of Florida. Used my spare, and got a couple in Atlanta before finally getting to Iowa. Goodyear gave me all new tires and repaired the damage to my trailer. I doubt if Discount Tire, or Tire Rack would have done so, but I don't shop there anyway. Others may have had good experiences. 6. I wanted a High Quality toilet in my rig when it was built. The Toilet cost over $700 and looked good. Less than three years later it still looks good but I have to pour water in it to Flush and it will not hold water in the bowl very often for more than a few minutes. I removed it, rebuilt the cheap plastic "hardware" a couple times and frankly it's easier to just add water from the bathroom sink and collect water from hand washing and reusing it to flush. The Offending Piece of Crap (pun intended) is the THETFORD Aria Classic. It looks like the price of it have gone down considerably or the mark up was very high in 2013. I'm still using it for liquids, but have converted to a no solids in any tanks except for the very fine food items that remain on the plates or cooking utensils that are not caught in the strainer for the drain. At some point I may consider a compost, or incinerating replacement, but only if I can find one that looks as good and fit's the spot. I'm sure I've seen and maybe used a Dometic , but have never owned one for any length of time. I do not recall the unit in my first trailer, it worked, but was plastic and not the shape I prefer. 7. Oil wicking through the wiring harness to the ECM. New ECM, wiring harness and a sensor or two they say. Will know for sure next week. Parts to be shipped yesterday and arrive Monday, but I'm at the mercy of FedEx they say. Rod
  8. Are you able to post a photo of the truck and trailer from a side view? Preferably on a very flat surface. Not sure I would see anything, but others might. Sorry to hear of your issue. Hope it get's better soon. Rod
  9. Yet another person to take a portion of the money spent by one person supposed to be paid to another person for good, AKA "The Middleman". I personally try to remove as many "Middlepersons" from anything I purchase. Sometimes it's impossible, but unless I hire a person to find something for me, then I don't want to have them contact me about a "for sale" item. It may not be the same, but I thought about shipping a vehicle. Didn't realize when asking for an estimate, I was putting the word out to multiple "Brokers" to try and find a shipper for me. I'm still getting "Offers" for shipping my vehicle. Which I decided to do for myself. No "Brokers" for me. Rod
  10. Got the diagnosis this afternoon and put down the deposit for the parts to be ordered today and shipped. Should be her by Monday mid morning and the repairs done by Wednesday around the same time. They share a test part with another store and it was brought in this morning and hooked up. The truck started, so they are pretty sure if they replace it with a new one and do all the other work required I will be find for a long time. Sure hope so, it's going to be an expensive repair. Not as much as another put in his truck a few years ago. Sure hope I made the right choice. I sent an email to a couple people this morning early to inquire about an estimate to move my trailer. Neither replied yet, so I paid the deposit to get the parts on the move. If I get a very favorable estimate for the move, I may consider fixing the truck and then putting it up for sale. It's got a fresh set of rubber all around and I just mounted a tool box. All it really needs now is a flat deck over the exposed frame rails and maybe some steps to get on top. If I leave Wednesday, I should be at the rally by Thursday afternoon. That's the plan as of now Friday October 8, 2021 Rod
  11. My hope is to still attend as much as I can, but my truck was on the back of a tow truck today and I won't know before the first part of next week what it will need. Have a good time and stay safe. Rod
  12. Thanks for the offer. I'm North of you in Grand Forks and the people I have spoke with have all been very good and helpful, just not enough to get the truck on the road just yet. The mechanic who came last evening, came back today on his lunch break to hook up the computer. Found several things regarding fuel pressure but is not sure exactly where it's coming from. Says the priming pump doesn't act like there is a loss of pressure but something is preventing fuel getting to the cylinders. I have some filters in the truck and will replace the ones I know where they go and start cranking again. Will look at the fuel lines too, have had a few leaks and did ask my mechanic to change them all when the first one happened. He talked me out of it. Would it have helped today, no one knows. Changing into the working on the truck clothes. Wish me luck, Rod
  13. It was a line from the back of the engine and comes up from the top of the fuel filter near the fuel filter and where the primer piston is. Will try to get a photo of it and the an item that should have been deleted with the repair but was not. It's the second time something has been done to that line and not by me. The existing and newly repaired line is tied to an older line (I'm assuming OE line and fitting). There is a metal inline something or other that my mechanic thought may have been something added to "Gain MPG". AKA mileage booster inline magnet to arrange the fuel molecules for best burning. I wish it had been taken out before the fix. I'm hoping after work today the mechanic who came out has something to offer. I have another "Mobile Tech" who can be free Thursday after I get off work to come and take a look too. The folks here in North Dakota have been some of the best I have ever met in traveling across this nation. They all apologize for being so busy and not able to drop what they are currently doing to come to my aid. None have asked for nor accept any money for their time and trouble so far. Even the guy who delayed going home from work by quite a bit last night. To top that off it's been one of the most enjoyable assignments I've ever done. One of my coworkers said yesterday when I was sharing my plight. " People come to North Dakota to see it once and then stay because their car won't start." Sort of funny, but not. Rod
  14. Yes. Trip from Oklahoma to Iowa and then North Dakota. Complete service done in Iowa with the repair of a leaking fuel line before the 600 mile trip to ND. Ran fine the entire way. Rod
  15. Mechanic came this evening at 1830 after spending all day at his shop. Will be coming back tomorrow with a computer to check codes. Truck spins over and despite multiple priming pumps and pumps while attempting to start there was no fire in the cylinders. His best guess at this point is the Oil Pump. The oil pressure does not build with the starter spinning. I took my video to several other shops and their thought of when it was running were either an injector, injector cup and one thought "Cam Shaft". None have come to look at the truck though. With the Beet Harvest just days away all shops are busy. Looks like I might have to miss the first part of the HDT Rally. Will hopefully know more tomorrow afternoon. Rod
  16. Thanks for the responses and suggestions. Here is the video with the sound of it running. It's now not even starting. I'm suspecting what you have suggested and hoping there is a mechanic that will come out to assist me with the repair. The Volvo place has no mobile mechanic and so far the two people they suggested I call, only one has answered and their mechanic was out for the night last night. This afternoon after work I will stick the tanks. I was 3/4 full when I parked in in June, but ... Don't remember what the gauge said, was more concerned about the sounds. Will have to sweep off my parking mat for the bike and slide it under the truck to check some things tonight also. The truck was serviced just before this trip with all filters changed and a repair of a leaking fuel line. I don't see any signs of a new leak, but the lines are 20 years old. The truck in a 2001 with the Volvo 465 900,000+ miles on it. Rod
  17. Well actually the truck started right up, which was sort of unusual for me. I'd usually get a fire and then it would shudder and finally die. I'd get under the hood and pump the priming pump and after an extended crank it would fire again and all would be well. Today if fired up ran for almost a minute (way longer than normal) and then started to shudder, never died, but did not sound good at all. Took a quick video with sound and sent it off to my mechanic friend in Iowa. I then took the same video to the truck repair shop just up the road a mile. They were very nice, listened to it, but when they found out it was the Volvo motor they said the other shop in town worked on them. Got the number, they are backed up with the prep for harvest and I'm sure when harvest is in full speed they will be even more busy. I did get two other numbers for "Mobile Mechanics" and have contacted both and they too are busy at least this afternoon for one and am waiting on the other to call me back. I'm uploading a video to You Tube with the noise and will post a link to it soon. Rod
  18. The cover for the head unit minus the slot?
  19. Your post reminded me of something. I sent you a PM. Rod
  20. Maybe or maybe not. I agree with the club portion, but without the "Club" would there be this? Was it the chicken or the egg? I don't know, but the "Forum" may be self sufficient with the fees paid by advertisers. Sad part is I avoid most places that spend money advertising their services on line and do very little "On Line" shopping. I only order something to be delivered to me if it's totally not available where I am or will be in the near future give or take 3 to 6 months. I try my best to find a locally owned business with each new location I plan to spend over a few days at. It is getting harder and harder to do, but hopefully what little money I spend with them helps. Rod
  21. It's sort of like a subscription in my mind. It used to and maybe still does include a magazine and multiple mailings. After Kirk's link I remember why I did not renew, yet. I would not be a new member and apparently you have to call a number. I will remember frequently the need to call, but it will either be between 4 and 6 AM or on a weekend like now. Maybe someday they will extend an offer to renew and I'll be able to do it at a time convenient for me. Membership, subscription, patron, customer, follower, participant, watcher, lurker, and the entire list of new badges that are currently available even if you don't pay the money. Rod
  22. Found this today. It had been a topic in other locations before. Only skimmed the content and didn't read much. Did make it to "Collaborator" 59 minutes ago and unfortunately I am not a paying member. I should have purchased the lifetime when it was available, but did not and have not seen an offer again. I did look into a "Subscription" a few weeks ago but couldn't find the cost for some reason. Made sort of a 'snarky' comment to Kirk a little earlier today about the difficulty in posting photos here. Hope I don't get into too much trouble. Rod
  23. Looking very good. Almost all of us are "Farm Made" if it weren't for the ingenuity of farmers from around the world many of us would not have anything to eat. I too was a responsible adult and mounted my Tool Box yesterday instead of going to the Farmers Market. No photos yet. Have to make sure it survives the trip to the HDT Rally next weekend. Rod
  24. Thanks Kirk, Not exactly the photo I had in mind, but it certainly is my rig. I guess the other photo didn't load into the post either. I clicked the "Other Media" and tried to put the photo in here, but it would only turn from blue to red. If I try to use the "drag files here to attach, or choose files" I get the message the photos size is too big. Some day they need to fix that and maybe no one will complain again about changing the counters. Rod
  25. That's sort of funny. After typing the response yesterday I spent the whole day outside preparing for my upcoming move. I moved lots of things around. Finally found a place to mount my tool box and while searching for something I came across a 50 amp outlet lying in a box. Low and behold I saw a jumper wire from the ground to the neutral pole. I don't ever remember making that, but I had an extension cord made by a electrician friend of mine many years ago for my 50 amp service with an outlet in a box. I remember using that box for something else a couple years ago and apparently didn't notice the jumper wire when I took the outlet out. I guess it's a good thing I'm not Jewish. Rod
