  1. The wind for sure can be an issue. I hope my attachment and other plans will mediate that issue. As far as critters, those who I have posed the question to report no issues, or maybe they just didn't see them. There is nothing that I can think of under my rig that is exposed, or would be of interest to a varmint. At least I hope that's the case. I will have an access location where I will be able to shine a light around when It's dark and I think If any choose to call the space home, I will be able to detect them. I would then turn my feline loose down there for a bit and see if she would bring me a gift. Rod
  2. Thank you for the replies. I'm not quite in the boot heel of Missouri, but close. I lived in a Mobile Home in my early years and at the time was surprised by the thin plastic they used to "Skirt" all of them. I'm using they same type of heat tape that I used with it. Never had an issue with below zero temp's in South East Iowa. Rod
  3. A goodly number of my neighbors have either just finished putting some form of "Skirting" around their trailers or have had it in place since my arrival in Late October. None of the "Motorhomes" have any. I have not done this in the past, but think I will try it on Saturday and see if it helps. It's my first Winter in SEMO and I will be here at least till early summer so I should get a good test. I also may have to pay for electric if my use is over the amount they include in the spot. First month no extra charge, but it hasn't been very cold yet. My "Hydrant" is close enough to my front slide out that I am pretty sure I can include it in the skirting. I will still wrap a "heat tape" around it and add a bit of close insulation, but I'm hoping to be able to keep the water hooked up. Last winter I filled every good outside day and used my fresh water tank and water pump. I do have to find all the leaks that have started plaguing me in my filter system. It used to be smaller and attached to the trailer, but it made a mess every time I changed the filters. I have since added a softener and a larger prefilter in a clear housing so I can see what the water is like before it goes to the softener and then the carbon filter, but I just read you should put the carbon filter in front of the softener, so I will do that. What would doing an additional sediment filter and then a final carbon filter do other than potentially lower my water flow or pressure? Thanks for any and all responses. Rod
  4. Thanks for the replies. I won't be getting one any time soon, but thought they were supposed to be the next best thing to the "Mobile Lifestyle Folks." Rod
  5. Is this not allowed to be installed on the rig, or not allowed to be used "Mobile" Rod
  6. Most of the time if you are not happy with something that the builders thought was a great idea, but have never had to "LIVE" with it. I'd go for it and hope you are happy with it. Rod
  7. Yes I started with a car tire on my GL1500, then my FJR 1300 and now on my RT 1200. I will never run a motorcycle tire except for when I first purchase a bike. The Gold Wing still had the car tire on it when I traded it in, but they didn't notice until after I rode the new bike home. Next time I stopped they commented on it. Rod
  8. It's the Tallahassee RV Park on Mahan https://tallahasseervpark.com/ It's very close to I 10 and the Car Museum. Rod
  9. Thanks, I'll take a look at the links this evening. Rod
  10. I just replaced the harness and ECM. Do a x4 to SuiteSuccess and that's the cost for it all with the labor to put in. At least in Grand Forks, ND. It would take me a bit to find the receipt, but it has the breakdown. I had noticed and commented to several mechanics over the past 5 years about it and the story of ruining the ECM, they all said wait until you have an issue.... I'm telling you now, don't wait. Have someone change the harness or get one and do it. The new harness does NOT fix the issue , but has a connector so you don't have to change the whole harness. At least that was what the Service Writer and the guy who took my money said. I had no problems for the first 700 miles after the change, then after the HDT Rally on the trip from Hays, KS to Concordia, MO I had the motor shut down (I think) and I saw a "No Data connection" message on the screen. I was close to an exit and thought I could at least get off the Interstate before I stopped. Low and behold, the engine started back up and I had no other problems for the remainder of the trip to Concordia. The next morning as I was going up the entrance ramp to I 70 another never before seen message came up on the screen. Something about data connection but the truck was still running and climbing well. By the time I got on the interstate the message was gone and I engaged the cruise control and it stayed on all the way to St. Louis. (It shut off with the first episode). I pressed my luck twice on the way to my destination in Cape Girardeau, MO, but apparently I had to pay the price by being forced to suffer with 2 full weeks of Full Blown COVID. Two urgent care visits, two visits to the ER (One not necessary, but I used another Urgent care (the one recommended by the first ER visit). In any event I had two CT scans of my chest to prove I had some pneumonia. I am recovered almost completely now, but when I see the bills I may have another different problem. I have paid for a BC/BS single policy for over 10 years and haven't used it. Now a few months before my "Medicare" kicks in I use it. Just the luck. Rod
  11. Time to go to the dark side. I have been running double dark for many thousands of miles and single dark for many years. Have a good trip to Florida. If you are passing close to Tallahassee I have a RV park that will accommodate our big rigs and if it's on a day when the FSU Women are playing I'd recommend attending a game at the Tucker Center. There team this year is going places I think. Rod
  12. The older trucks have air leaks. It's a given, you can chase them with the "Whisper" thingy, I think SuiteSuccess had one at the ECR the year I attended and many people tried to find their leaks. I've owned my truck for over 10 years I think and from day one it wouldn't keep air in the bags. Recently it's gotten better, but I have no idea why. Letting the truck run long enough to build up air pressure is the time you should be doing your pre trip evaluation. Mine is usually done before I'm ready to put it in gear. If yours is taking too long it might be more important to check out the compressor. Insomnia is why I'm here at this hour. It may have affected my response, but I don't think so. Rod
  13. I'm just a couple hours north of I 40 and have made the trip to Memphis to have lunch with my daughter once when I was here. They were heading to Mississippi and her then boyfriend's brother lived in Memphis. I'd do that if you happen to have a stop scheduled there. I don't want to have you go out of your way or make an unplanned stop. My daughter lives in Norman, I have worked in Edmond, Tahlequah, Lawton and Ponca City and of course have visited the daughter several times. Drivers in and around OKC are some of the worst ever, maybe even worse than South Florida, but I guess it's been 10 years since I did much driving down there maybe with all the cell phone use while driving they are just as bad. Rod
  14. Thank you for the responses, but it appears I will just have to live with the issues. I had an email this weekend about being able to watch a live game with the Florida State Womens basketball playing. I clicked on the link but was asked what "TV Provider" I used. My TV provider is my TV antenna or what the "RV Park" provides and I don't have a "Password or Account Number" for such and therefore I cannot watch the event. I tries to sign up for ESPN and HULU, but both wanted me to allow my computer to show them my current location so they could "Taylor" my content. I WANT TO WATCH FSU Womens Basketball. I care nothing about what's available where I am at any given moment. I move about...... I had "Dish" when I first became a full time RV'er. but quickly found out that was not for me. I bought a " digital" antenna and have a couple pieces of 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe I extend above my "Home on Wheels" if the park does not have "Cable". I am happy if I get at least one of the major networks. I usually scan and get 12 to 20 channels depending on my location using this antenna. Over half of them I delete. But that's OK. Rod
  15. So would turning the batteries end to end not create space for the terminals not to touch and maybe allow you to do a "buss bar"? Can't tell from the photos today. Hope to see the rig some day, but California is a long way away. I think I read you were "retired" sort of, and attending the ECR too. I'm in Cape Girardeau, MO and if you are coming through within a hundred miles or so I'd ride or drive to visit if you have a stop on the way. No chance in me hitting the ECR for a while. More chance of the West Coast some day. Colorado next summer I hope, Montana the summer after that and who knows where in the Winters between. Will depend on how the C. G. winter goes. Most of the trailers here have put skirting around, but my next door neighbor said they didn't the first year, then did and are not planning on doing it this year. I did fine in Lawton, OK last winter but electric was included in the bill. Part of the electric is included here, if you don't go over an allotted amount. I didn't the first month, but it hasn't been real cold yet and I have been limiting the use of my "Dehumidifier" and electric heaters. Once it gets cold I will have to turn on at least one heater in the basement near the water pump. I fill my tank and run off of it and then pick a day where the water won't freeze to fill the tank again. It worked well in OK last year and the year before in Edmond, OK. I forgot I've spent two winters in Oklahoma. Rod
  16. Great thought and one I had when told them what I wanted when building my trailer. Instead they used the big inverter to power the whole trailer and it never worked to keep the fridge running for 48 hours as I asked. It caused other issues too, but I didn't realize until much later. In speaking of electronics, if they are turned off isn't that sufficient or do they need to have absolutely no power provided to them? Rod
  17. Had a sifting one back in the 1990's. Looked for one a few years ago when my daughter rescued her cat. Couldn't find on in any of the local "Pet Stores" in the city. I do not use Walmart for anything other than a travel emergency. One of those haven't happened in several years. Thanks for the reply. Rod
  18. Anyone have information on "Intellectual Property"? I've heard about companies saying an idea from an employee was company property because it occurred while at work. No personal contacts with anyone who has had it happen to them. Plan on making a call to the family lawyer someday soon, but have always learned much from the Escapees group and appreciate it. I do understand you get what you pay for though. Feel free to PM if you would like to keep the conversation private, but maybe others have thought of this too. Rod
  19. Good info for Good info for others who may have a KW. The fun of doing your own work. Rod
  20. Ok, that sort of makes sense, but I'm not taking every bit of the litter out, just sifting out the big clumps. If it was a complete change, I would understand. Last two times I cleaned she just came to sniff and that was the situation since rescuing her several months ago. It was only after 4 times where she decided to use it while I was cleaning that I wrote the initial post. Thank you for your reply. Rod
  21. Thanks for the updates Chad. I haven't looked at your links yet. Is there additional info there? Might wait till the install is complete and spend a day looking at everything. I'm on day 9 of 12 working days in a row, so try to only spend a little time here. Rod
  22. No I am using my computer to watch shows on the major networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) at a time that is more convenient for me than the times they are shown on air on my TV. I do not use an app. I use the XXX.com (fill in the network initials) and find the shows. One does not allow you to watch an episode until the next one is broadcast. The other two I can watch the day after the OTA Broadcast. I hardly ever have the "Show" freeze, but almost every section of "Commercials" I have to refresh at least once and often times several before it will play through the entire 2 to 3 minutes of commercials. Rod
  23. I pay my bills using an online bank account, yet the people I pay still send me a check in the mail. Thankfully so far they have all cleared after deposit even after sitting in my mail box for months in South Dakota. The companies want to have direct payments, why can they not just deduct it from a future bill? That would be my preference. Rod
  24. My first Adult Job was a job working for Wausau Homes at the Ottumwa, Iowa location . I worked on one of the many construction crews that put together the Prefabricated homes in as little as three days and up to a week or two depending on the size. The company had a couple "Autocar" mounted "Cranes" they use to lift the prefabricated floor panels, walls and roof panels into place. The other Cranes were mounted behind a cab over that also pulled a trailer with the building panels and supplies. The Autocar cranes had more range so for the larger houses that's the ones that showed up. Rod
  25. I certainly understand the reason for "Commercials" and watch them both using the OTA and "Streaming". I just want to find out how to keep them from FREEZING up and preventing me from watching the entire commercial and therefore the entire program. Rod
