  1. Now that you have the stuff, maybe a side job opportunity in the making?
  2. Several years ago on a trip back North from South Florida I had the misfortune of multiple tire blow outs. While I could not purchase the tires at the Walmart, I did have them remove the old tires from the rims and install the new. I had taken the wheels off in the parking lot and reinstalled in the same place. I more often see folks doing the minor repairs in the Auto Parts Store lots, sometimes with the assistance from one of the counter staff. Rod

    Hood Removal

I'll bet it will last longer than 5 years. Too bad they didn't offer to tint the bedliner, but I have seen that stuff fade pretty fast, at least the red stuff. Rod
  4. Thanks everyone for their comments. I'm not yet at the Medicare age, but getting very close. I use my inversion table daily and try to incorporate a few body weight lifts, twists and a couple of hand weights in an 8 and 12 lb size. It's remarkably difficult to hold an 8lb weight at your side at waist level keeping your shoulders down while hanging upside down by your ankles. I do enjoy the group classes though even though I don't know anyone, I feel guilty if I don't make it to the class. Rod
  5. My new to me Jeep does and I'm probably glad it does. I don't think the latest ones roll over as easily as the older models and really don't want to find out. Have never driven a Smart Car to know anything about them. Rod
  6. Hello all, I have wanted to do this for a while and finally in Tahlequah, OK. I was able to find a studio with an instructor who would call me back. I tried a couple summers ago in Ponca City, OK., but no one would ever call me back and a sign on the door didn't encourage me to knock on the door. Enough with the tail of woe....... I scheduled a private lesson in Tahlequah and while it was informative and enjoyable, it was quite costly for the hour session. Another person was leading a "Saturday" month long class for about the same amount so I signed up and attended 4 out of the 5 sessions. I looked but didn't reach out to anyone before moving to North Dakota for the summer. Once here I did realize I was missing the "Practice" sure I could do it in the RV using a YouTube video, but it wasn't the same. In late June I was sitting in front of a "24 hour Yoga Studio" at least that's what the advertisement said and there was a sign indicating I needed to call first. I did, but no one answered. While sitting there I searched for another Yoga offering in the area and came up with a "Traveling Studio" not sure what that meant and I didn't want someone to come to my "Man Cave" for sure, but I called anyway and am happy I did. The instructor was very engaging on the phone and while I missed the first class on July 3rd, I will try to not miss another session. They are outside (not my favorite)and every other Saturday (wish they were every). They are near the Farmers Market(makes parking challenging) and don't start till 10AM (most people were late)I'd rather 7 or 8 am. So now for the real reason for starting this. If I put a "Sticky" at the top is it allowed to put addresses and phone numbers of the Yoga locations participants in the thread may offer up for is all to use if we happen to be close to those areas? Facebook is where the current instructor posts info the most and while I might be able to reactivate my account, I'm not sure I wouldn't get pulled into the "Habit" again so I'm not going to. Thank you for reading and your replies. Rod
  7. Yes, it's on the gravel road about a mile south of the Flying J. I have visited the park by the river, but they don't allow long term stays. You can stay in the park, but have to move every 2 weeks and depending on how active the season is, another spot may not be available. Another issue with the Grand Forks campground is the number of "Cottonwood" trees. They are producing a LOT of seed and the accompanying fluff. I need to check my ODU (out door unit) for my Mini Split this weekend to see how much the fluff is affecting my cooling. Supposed to get to the triple digits next week. I accidently approached a border crossing a few weekends ago on a motorcycle ride. It was on the Minnesota side and I missed a turn. The road I was on led me to a "Ghost town" crossing location. The road was barricaded, overgrown and the "Customs" building was quite eerie looking. I didn't stop but turned around as soon as I saw it. On the way back out of the area I saw a "Pickup truck" sitting in a driveway with it's headlights on that I'm sure wasn't there when I traveled past the location before. There were markings on the side I assume were US Customs, but I didn't stop to find out. I'm hoping to do a few more rides, but it has to cool off. I do hope to make a trip to Duluth and visit the Aerostich store and maybe get me a R3 suit. Rod
  8. Until the Friday before the HDT Rally in Hutchinson. Rod
  9. You purchase insurance for the peace of mind that you will never need to use it. The reality comes when you have to use it and it's not worth the paper it was printed on. I have submitted very few claims during my lifetime and have always been disappointed in the response. I'm pretty sure that will not change, but I still pay the premiums. I do only carry liability insurance for items I own that are paid for, have treated me very well and with the likelihood I could never replace them at any cost. Why pay any more for the disappointment. Now loosing something from the act of another is a whole different matter. There should be no question if a person or an object under the control of a person causes the destruction of another person or their property. It should be replaced completely at no cost to the original owner. Of course that's a pipe dream too. Rod

    Hauling a Canoe

Will he retract or won't he? That is the question.
  12. My home on wheels has a one car, one motorcycle garage that also is able to carry my recumbent trike and a few other odds and ends. A friend of mine used to say he got 20+ mpg since he would combine the mpg of all the items on their trips. The truck is only used to move the house. The Car and motorcycle for trips to work, the grocery store and what ever else. Is it less expensive, absolutely not, but I would have each if I were stationary, so what's the difference. The difference is all of my possessions will tend to depreciate with age. Real estate usually appreciates. If you are young and want to retire early, stay where you are and save. If you want to work on the road accept that it's a long learning process and just when you think you have got it. The new lesson will come for a visit. Each vehicle has it's pros and cons. Each person has their opinions on each and what's a pro for me may be a con for you. I travel single and don't have anyone to argue with but myself. I don't have to explain my actions or thoughts. Two heads are usually better than one though. Good luck with your choice. Rod
  13. If you are going to do the work yourself and have used a "Part's Place" before, call them and see if they can have your part's "Drop shipped", that may save you some shipping money. If you are having someone else do the work, find out their supplier and see if you can save money by purchasing the parts for someone else to install. (I've found that not to be a saving). I try to have my "Expensive" repairs done when I am in a location where I have a relationship with the mechanic. I have trusted people in South Florida, Southeastern Iowa and North Central Oklahoma. I've had work done in other places, but would recommend only three. Rod
  14. Sorry you are having the issue. It' used to be, the dealer you purchased your vehicle from would assist you in the "Registration". That does not seem to be the case now, especially on "Used" vehicles. I have a domicile in South Dakota and have for a while. I purchase a "New" vehicle a year ago and the registration, taxes and such were pretty straight forward, but my agent was less than I expected. The New Vehicle was traded this spring for a used one and while the agent was better, it still was not the same as before being a full time "RV Traveler". I have been a Travel Nurse since 1989 and it sure seemed easier, back then. You do need to register your vehicle in the state where you domicile and have your insurance. Your tax representative may be able to assist you further. Rod
  15. Remember the valve you have in the photo is more than just an on and off valve. It's a pressure regulator to ensure the equipment using the propane are not subjected to different pressures due to heat or cold to the tank. Rod
  16. Thankfully it's getting better now. It took a couple loud noises to get the message across, but now it's just a firm no and the frequency is decreasing. Of course she is teaching me that she want's some attention as much as I'm teaching her not to bite. Rod
  17. I treat my water heater as "tankless" even though it has a 10 gallon tank. I can turn it on in the morning while making coffee. Turn it off once I hear the gas burner go out and have plenty of hot water for my shower (during the Spring, Summer and early Fall). Winter time I do have to leave it on depending on the outside temperature. I'm on a metered electric site currently so won't be leaving the electric on as I do with a site with no meter. Rod
  18. Have never found one to price, especially for my need. Move 500 to 1000 miles and then turn drop it off. Sort of like one way auto rentals which I hear are through the roof right now as far as pricing. Hoping my 2001 lasts quite a bit longer. Rod
  19. I thought I wanted a 4 door MDT before buying the Volvo I have. It would have been one of the worst mistakes and am glad I didn't do it. Is my Volvo perfect? No. For most of us who travel only for work and have our truck sit for months at a time it would be more cost effective to have a good late model rental we could use to make the moves and then let someone else move theirs, until it's time to move again. Rod
  20. I have bought body parts and a fuel cap from Vander Haggs in Des Moines, IA. I know they have other locations. I was able to walk the yard after the first trip out to check some things out with the aid of a tech and a motorized wheeled vehicle of some type. Did a removal of a side marker light and a fuel cap. Had to make two trips for the fuel cap, they looked close to the same but were not. Rod
  21. I'll keep watching this post and maybe will learn some things. It's all over my head at the moment. My need is to run my mini split HVAC unit. Found out the hard way I was no longer able to plug into a 30 amp plug. Was lucky the pole had two feed lines and I had no neighbor. Was able to plug in two 30 amp plugs to a 50 amp receptacle to get my 240 volts. Worked trouble free for at least 13 weeks, thankfully. Haven't had to use it again, but was thinking of trying to figure out a way to get 240 out of my two Honda 2000's, for the unusual emergency setting, but then I'd have to bypass my surge protector/voltage monitor. I've decided to wait and spend the time and money on solar, batteries and the appropriate inverter setup. If I could only save the money. Rod
  22. If I could only get 220 volts by doing so I'd be all over wanting info. I'm sure there is a way with some sort of a transformer, but it's not yet that urgent of an issue. Rod
  23. Not currently. I may still need to do an occasional assist with my daughters feline, but that's usually only at the middle of winter. He has been to my home on wheels a few times and we got along very well every time. The two haven't yet met, but the he has had a roommate for almost a year who is moving away next month and he will get two new roommates, so my care may not be necessary. I thought about an introduction, but it would have only been for a few hours so I nixed that. May check my current area about the need for a "Foster" and see if that's possible. Thanks for the replies, comments and suggestions. Rod
  24. If they could only turn back the clock to when I was 30. Rod
