bigjim replied to RV_'s topic in Computers and Software
So I have a chromebook that is beyond the auto-update expiration date and they tell me I can switch to Linux but I did not have a clue there are multiple choices. I litteraly only the the most basic of of functions and want as small a learning curve and maintainance issue as possible. So what is you suggestions please. PS I only used this chrome book for one function and always as a guest. As far as I know I don't have anything saved on it. -
President Biden requests production increases from OPEC

I do Sam's Club and lately has been in upper $2.80's. Nearby Costco is likely competitive I am sure. A good number in the area are $2.99 with others just over $3.01 to $3.09. Even had 3 nearby had a mini gas war that had them about equal to Sam's and Costco. On that corner was a new Murphy Express that I think was the driver of that pricing. There has been several in this are that had diesel lower than unleaded which is unusual. This is the Albq. market. Out of town it tends to be higher. -

I must b missing something. I never want fuel prices to ever go up in my dreams but in reality that is not practical or pragmatic. Also I not seeing fuel at outrageous prices. I believe I have read and heard on the news that distribution after refining has been a problem due to a shortage of drivers. Also in other shipping. I do know that in the time of a previous administration I paid over $5.00 a gal. at one point and that was not in Cali or other places where it tends to be highest. My basic understanding and thoughts fall in line with pjstough, ray, and dutch. -

Just for clarity you mean Silver City not Silver Springs. -

Along with Kirk' s reccomends I suggest you plan ahead some key points you can turn south if you become aware it is getting bad ahead. Not just the obvious one like south to Phoenix or south on I25 at Albuquerque. -
Unlike Most Auto Purchases, Teslas Hold their Value
bigjim replied to RV_'s topic in Finances and Investing
As poor as I mostly was, I considered a couple to be an investment due to popularity and likelihood of being considered collectors cars. I came our ahead on both but wish I had a way to hold on to them longer and keep them safe. -
Thanks for posting this.

I don't know about yellowstone but I think in a lot places it is percentanges and pure dumb luck if you get to see certain wildlife or not. A friend out here lived in the mountains and it was 40 years before he saw a bear (black bear) in the wild but has seen multiple mountain lions and I have yet to see one though I have seen almost unrefutable signs.

You didn't get peed or pooped on did you. Sure can't hide inside a MC. I had 2 different issues with black bears when riding my little Honda 250. They were almost poop level experiences and I was the one trying to maintain.

I know its rare but it only takes once. Looks like an easy head entry for the head of a TATANKA or Elk or even a mad squirel. Not that it would be common. Actually my first thought was rain, sleet, and hail. Still looks fun. Side note. I think I have read somewhere that there are some parks that won't allow anything but a hard sided camper. Not even pop-up tent campers. Anyone know this for sure.
-
I am pretty sure that some skp parks have an area that you can do maint. It is probably limited as to what they allow.

I currently use Navy Federal Credit Union. Not retired but was Marine Corp, Air Force, Air NG, AF reserve, and DOD Civilian. I also use KirtlandFCU on and adjacent to Kirtland AFB at Albuquerque. Have also used "community" credit unions, Red River Army depot credit union and a few more I can't remember. I much prefer credit unions to banks. I have been with Navy Federal and Kirtland the longest. Navy has a lot more branches around the US. Military affiliated credit unions have a high number of ATM ability through a network that don't charge atm fee's I think Alliant CU is a community CU.

Just great news as the majority of my kids and grandkids live in Shelby County. (Memphis) A fair number live in Tipton County. I was hoping to hold out and get a hip replacement there in the fall/winter. But there are plenty of other hotspots for known reasons. But hey maybe I won't be able to cross the river if the bridge isn't repaired and the old bridge falls into the river due to over use.

Confused about the vehicle registration
bigjim replied to Mail2Corbett's topic in General RV Information
I don't know about now but in Nov. of 1999 I bought a used TT in Florida and titled and registered it in Florida even as a non-resident. Then when I went to Texas I retitled it with Tx tags. There was a difference in sales tax and I was given credit for the tax I paid in Florida vs what the Tx sales tax was. I also had to pay a 1 time fee of I think $90. for a new to Tx vehicle fee. That was a Travel Trailer and it was Nov. 1999. I did have an address to use in Fla. but did not claim to be a resident. -
Is that where the Edison lab museum from NJ is now located? I have been to the winter home and lab in Florida and would sure like to see the one from NJ. Anyone seen both? If so what did you think. sorry for the partial thread hijack.

There has to be better words than ironic and hypocrite to describe this. -
Kirk are you talking about "DevilishJim' on the forum? I remember his wife coming on to let us know a little about the circumstance. Sure hope she is doing well. If I have not said so there is one person here where I volunteer that was a naysayer and not careful around others has come down with it. I am finding it difficult to be sympathetic especially since the last interaction I had with her she said everyone here in the US should speak English right after I tried to help a couple here for a wedding didn't speak English and I had trouble helping them. I guess she never heard of tourist spending their money on our economy.

Me too, really like this one.
