We're on the road in Iowa during spring storm season. Tomorrow we get to decide whether to stay here with lousy internet or move on to possible hail. Terrible decision to have to make. We are on our way to the Winnebago factory for a few fix-its, though, so if we get hail they can repair it, right?

Well, Linda, it looks like we are expecting the weather to "fire up" here in Oklahoma Tuesday night and mostly on Wednesday. There is a "dry line" forming to the west, and we are getting hot south winds and that is a recipe for severe weather. I wish we could scurry out of here, but we must hang on until June 20th.

Carol went to a photography meeting in OKC tonight, so I went into the casino to spend my last $20. Well, I turned it into $170, so I guess I'll have to stay here for a while longer  . That 20 was supposed to be my "token payment" for my spot rent, so now what do I do? Oh, and I got the free ice cream too. ha ha Tomorrow we go to Tulsa, as Carol is giving a photography class up there to the Tulsa metro group. They are a neat group, so it should be a fun time.

Jim, I went fishing again, but on my second cast i nailed a tree overhead and spent the rest of the daylight hours clearing the "birds nest" from my reel. Of course fish were jumping all over the place  Tomorrow would be a good time, with the front coming in, for a rematch, but I'll be in Tulsa, darn it. Oh well, no one thinks there's really fish in there, so they'll be safe. <_<

I made an appointment with Freightliner to figure out my odometer error problem. I used to have 52K miles on the bus, and one day, after stopping for a while, I started again and it read 725 miles. It's worked fine since then (now reads 3200 miles), but if I ever sell this thing it could be a problem. I talked to freightliner national, and they said, take it in to OKC and let them put the scanner on it and see what it says. I still think it's an "area 51" problem. We'll see

It will be interesting to see what millage the ECM indicates. Another way to look at it is you have a near new coach now. Does it drive nicer now that it is new??

Steve - Jim is trying to figure out how to get up there and catch those fish before you do. But I told him we're headed the opposite direction so just give it up. Hope the storms go around you. Be safe. And have some ice cream for us.

We're in for more wind today. Yesterday the wind was coming from our rear so we didn't get moved around too much. Should be the same today. But it's only going to gust to 45 or 50 today instead of 55 to 60 like yesterday.

You think you would remember driving it in reverse for 50,000 miles, that would take a lot of cranberry juice; or was it that time warp machine you got stuck in, do you feel 10 yrs younger? Maybe you could sell tickets to ride bessy bus back in time.

Greetings, classmates!

Checking in from Cortez, CO. Have been here a week and will hang out for another. Next week we're off to Moab. Looking forward to "filling in" Utah on our "fulltiming map". It's one of our very favorite states!

We are so happy to be out of New Mexico! One of the ABQ weather dudes reported this was the windiest April in New Mexico in 12 years!!!! Don't we know it!

Safe travels, y'all!!

Man the wind is worse today by a long shot than it was yesterday. I'm getting sea sick in here bouncing around. My rope trick is still working. At least the slid topper is still intact. However, todays wind points out a possible problem. I can't bring in the slid with the rope around it. So, If the wind got to the point that it was making the slid tip in at the top and bang against the facer when it fell back out. I'd have to take the rope off to bring in the slid and if I did that in this strong of a wind. I'd loose the topper for sure. Oh well, maybe I could catch a calm between gust to take the rope off and quick roll in the side. I'm thing of leaving Las Vegas, NM and heading for Raton, NM and Sugarite Canyon State park a little earlier than I was going to. The word Canyon is beginning to look very good with all this wind.

Steve if you find out what caused the age reversal, LET ME KNOW. I need to try it.

Steve: When we first bought our Ultimate Advantage (Freightliner Chassis) we had the same issue. No one at McLains could figure out the problem. We finally found a switch above the tach that switched it from miles to kilometers and also controls tripset. It can very easily be bumped when cleaning the dash. Tom

Man this place is dangerous. Twice today I opened the door from inside and the wind pulled me right out of the trailer. It did slow the door a bit so that it didn't break anything but with my old bones that's a long way to the ground. It's a wonder I didn't break something. I told Dave that I was going to tie a rope to the door and the other end to my piano with only 6 inches of slack. Then I could play some music for him while he was out flying Millie. The weather man says more of the same tomorrow. That's no surprise it's been windy every since I got here. I'm thinking very seriously about moving on and going to Sugarite Canyon a little early.

I'm still trying to remember why we came to New Mexico with all this wind. (Oh that's right, the kids live here.) Thank goodness the girls are such low riders because the way the wind was whipping their ears, they were about ready for take off. Lee - please take the wind with you when you leave. Supposedly, it's not supposed to blow so hard tomorrow but I'll believe that when I see it. Sure hope it calms down enough for us to leave on Thursday.

I really understand what Lee was saying about opening the door! It's really a two handed operation. Fortunately Millie has it figured out. I only open the door a dog width and she is out or in. No horsing around on her part. She doesn't care for these winds anymore than I do. I guess we have one more day of Arizona dirt migrating to Texas.

I detected a little California, Japan and China Dirt migrating past here. The wind was almost a strong as it has been the past two day but most of the day it came strait out of the west so it wasn't hitting my door and it didn't shake the trailer quite as bad. It's now about 8:20 here and the wind has died down considerably. The wind was very cold today. It finally got up to 60 degrees but that was about 5 PM. It's going to be a two cowgril night though, it's getting colder fast. I got in 3 short walks today but it was too windy and cold to do any more. I tried to sit outside in the lee of the trailer and carver but that didn't work so I'm just as bored today as I was yesterday. I was going to hook up and head for Sugarite Canyon but a friend called and said she would meet me at Sugarite Canyon. She won't leave Oklahoma until the 18th so if I leave now I'll use up most of my time there before she gets there. So, I'll sit it out here and pretend the wind really isn't blowing. Boy, That's going to take a lot of Cranberry Juice.

We got a break in the wind today. But the MONSOON season has now started. Heavy cloud cover most of the day including a heavy rain drop! (maybe two). It reminded me of a 14yr old virgin. All promise.... no play.

Lee glad to see you have a friend showing up on the 18th. Enjoy your 3 days with her. The world is going to end on the 21st.

We left St George, Utah and are now in Panguitch, Ut near the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park. Julie and Mike have been here for a week and Dave and Nancy arrived about 45 minutes after we got setup. Julie had advised us it was still cold here and she would make chili and cornbread for us to warm us up. Dave's two boys are visiting him and they went hiking so they had to eat leftovers. Boy did it hit the spot, Mike's cranberry juice didn't hurt either. We plan on spending a week in this area seeing the beautiful country and enjoying great company.

Diesel was cheaper than gasoline today and it was down .30 a gallon. I'm going to fill up tomorrow, or should I wait until the next day????? Let's see now, I'm at a casino and all of this stuff around here is a bit of a "gamble", so I guess it's just another game I'll have to play. ;)

Jim, another 4 bass this evening. I would have caught some yesterday, but snagged an overhead tree on the second cast and you know the rest

The wind was a little better today. It started out calm then about 10 we started to get an East wind. A half hour later we were getting a wind from the North. Then another half hour after that the wind switched back to the west. It would be calm for about 15 or twenty minutes the a gust would roll through and blow thing off my work table. I layed my knife down on the table to take a sip of coffee and a gust came along and blew the knife and the cane I'm working on off the table and broke the point off the knife and put another dent in the beak of the eagle handle on the cane. I went inside and reshaped the knife and came back out and it did it again so I took everything inside and worked in there. That didn't help much because I was stroping the knife and wasn't watching what I was doing and ran off the side of the strop and bent the point again and had to shape for the 3rd time. The blade on that knife was only a half inch long to start out with. If I break it many more times I'll be minus a blade. One of my LP tanks went dry today so I had to go into town and get it filled. I drove right past Wal-Mart and didn't even look at it. That's one way to save money.

Jim & Sandie The Fur Kids will keep me busy.

It was 29* this morning. I guess cold is a matter of Opinion. I have been in -70* and +120*. So 29* is about mid-way. Our favorite temp is 50* to 60*. It is 59 inside now

Jackson is about 6000 ft elev. It is nice and green there. It is over 7000 ft. here. That 1000 ft. sure makes a difference is weather. It snowed here Tuesday this week.

safe travels

Well, What do you know. The wind mainded it's manners today. It was really a nice day. The wind kicked up a little this evening but just enough to make me put a lite jacket on. I'm beginning to believe the superstition about Friday the 13th. I broke the point off my knife about 6 or 7 times today. Mostly because I dropped it and naturally it hits on the point every time. One time I broke it while putting the blade protector back on afte fixing it from when I dropped it before. I use clear plastic tubing for a blade protector. I put it over the blade and started to press it down on the table so it would stay on the knife and the tubing buckled and broke the point again. I know the gremlins are out to get me. That's all right I'll drown them in my Cranberry Juice. Now I know why you guys all have a dog. You can blame all the mishaps on the dog. If you blame them on your other half, you might get your head caved in. I guess I need to get a dog.
