Teton Pass Wyoming/Idaho RT. 22 Closed

2gypsies, you are so correct. One thing about the closure, people towing trailers and motorhomes won't have to think twice about going on the road. We have been over that road in our PU often in the summer and we have seen over our share of burnt up brakes and along with a Prevost that burnt to a crisp.

Amazing what they did in 3 weeks to open the road.

There's still a reason that RVers shouldn't drive it:

"The new detour is roughly 600 feet long, with a grade of 11.2 percent and a sharper curvature. The speed limit will be reduced to 20 mph through the area."

I don't see why RVs should not take the road, unless one is not sure of their diving skills or the condition of their equipment. I mean if tour/commuter buses and semis are going to be using it, why not?

If the weather is good and you enjoy mountain scenery there is no major reason that I can think of, other than the driver intimidation factor. Even the largest RV should be able to manage 600' of 11% grade.

I agree and we have driven the highway in our 40' MH but then, we love mountain driving!   I guess I was alluding to many posts on forums that suggest RVers should avoid the highway because there is a much easier go-around but a little longer.  There are vacationers from other states that aren't used to our western mountains.

I'm really amazed at this completion in such a short time.  Jackson and the national park workers must be so relieved!
