RV_
We recently did a thread about Laptop suggestions. I ran into these today and remembered how some folks don't want touch screens just the the standard Ultrabook form factor. This is for folks that want to save a few bucks and want a good 14"-15.5" laptop without touch screen but other great features for under $400.00 Since these require longer shipping times I would only recommend to folks with home bases they spend time at. They would not have worked for me when we were full-time because we kept moving and could only send them to family to hold until we got to our two month LA winter quarters. I prefer two in ones and hybrid laptops with detachable keyboards. And I don't use laptops, just Surface Pro and Go Windows 2 in ones, and Amazon Fire tablets for only consumption - reading/movies. I don't do emails or browsing on my smart phones. I do anything typing on my Windows 10 AIO desktops and Windows 10 tablets, I have links below to some great deals but some caveats. These folks take longer than most as they are shipped mostly from China but do have a US warehouse. I have done business with these folks and have gotten many outstanding buys. But they do take awhile. On the other hand I get things for .99 cents and free shipping and they are great. I have bought five smartwatches for Android or iPhones and they are so inexpensive at an average $20-$35 for good values. Rather than buy the big ticket watches that do the same or less, I can afford to experiment and after three or four usually find all satisfactory but one that outshines. The rest I give as gifts with the caveat that I do not do support after the gift. My point is that this company is easy to do biz with, takes two to three weeks to deliver, or even a month, but they tell you that up front. I bought all of my past mini PCs there and one for $99 served me well as a TV PC for five years before it failed. Returns of DOA are slow but they respond quickly. I have gotten some crappy supposed fast charge USB - C cables, but pretty much love buying their Deals. These deals are limited time and if you get something you hate, or don't like email only customer service, do not buy there. First here is the article that I read that motivated me to look and these are indeed on sale and very good value if they prove out. I already checked the reviews on all three, the English ones give five and four stars. Caveat emptor! Lou Schneider
Just FYI, I placed an order for RV's "#1 Choice" and it disappeared down the rabbit hole. Paypal was quick enough to pass through the $375 charge to my credit card on October 5 but neither Paypal nor Chase can give me a transaction or tracing number, only a charge from "Paypal *Gearbest". I've received numerous promotional emails from Gearbest since then but nothing to verify the order was actually placed. I've not received the merchandise. Gearbest's customer service is a joke, the only contact is through the website and it just leads you in circles. I've disputed the transaction and I'm now waiting for resolution. RV_
You can check that your order was received and processed by signing into your Gearbest account and go to your name and pull down menu to "Orders." Tracking is there too but pretty slow. I would check online pretty soon. I've never had them beat me out of anything I ordered. But at this point it sounds like your refund will be a good exit from this debacle. I withdraw my recommendation for them in light of your experience Lou. What is really frustrating is I did check on "Orders" and there's nothing there. Paypal didn't give my CC a transaction number, just "Paypal - Gearbest" showing the $375 charge. Gearbest's chat representative upgraded my inquiry to their Customer Sales team promising a response in 24 hours. Three days later still nothing. My order really did fall down the rabbit hole and my only option has been to dispute the charge, which is pending.

Watch for sales on Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving. That is typically when more feature packed, like 17", laptops go on sale. Ultrabooks are a kind of laptop that is small and light, so 17" models are rarely included. Then there is the LG Gram 17, which is light but not small. RV_
I'm with Bill. But I don't do laptops anymore. The closest are my Surface tablets and type covers which are technically either an Ultrabook or a tablet. My typecovers are stored in a filing cabinet and never used as we have several I am waiting until Cyber Monday and if no good enough deal, then Xmas shopping online for a Surface Go 2. I have the original Surface Go I bought last black Friday and it is my first disappointment in Surface products. It has the Pentium processor and it is just too Slow for this spoiled user! So after I find a good price on the new Go2 with the M3 processor/8GB/128GB SSD, for which the reviews are much more enthusiastic/positive, I may get one. I bought my Go a year ago and spent $500 before the case/typecover/tempered glass screen protector. Since it is fully functional just a bit slow it gets sold - cheap. I am also selling my Surface Pro 4 both with Microsoft typecovers, cases, and tempered glass screen covers. If I preferred a traditional Ultrabook AND a larger tablet I would look at the Microsoft Surface Book 3 which when used as a laptop gets 17 hours of run time on the 15" version. Here is a Best Buy page for it: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/microsoft-surface-book-3-15-touch-screen-pixelsense-2-in-1-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-256gb-ssd-platinum/6408380.p?skuId=6408380 But it is quite a bit more than even my i7 Surface Pro 7. Good videos in that link too. Good deals on the Surface Book 2 now as well: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-Book-13-5-Intel/dp/B07NMZTSK1 YMMV, Caveat Emptor Quote RV/Derekhttp://www.rvroadie.com Email on the bottom of my website page.Retired AF 1971-1998 When you see a worthy man, endeavor to emulate him. Bill Joyce
So far I have found this $479 deal on a 17" laptop: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-17-3000-laptop/spd/inspiron-17-3793-laptop Otherwise I have no seen other 17" models under $600, but that can change over the weekend.
