Crystallady
We are planning to sell our motorhome via a consignment company. Our current insurance provider does NOT cover while in storage or on a consignment lot. We have found this to be true of several other providers we have contacted. We were shocked to learn this. We would appreciate any advice.
Pappy Yokum
No help with "providers".....but - suggest you give selling it yourself a chance! Advertise here - as well as Craigslist, etc. You could be pleasantly surprised - there may be lots of folks who would love to have your MH. Maybe not - but certainly worth a try. ~
sandsys
If you do consignment you might ask if they have insurance that would cover your rig while they have it. 2gypsies
We sold through PPL in Houston. Our RV insurance company just added a rider for around $25, if I recall correctly. Crystallady
Thank you for your reply. Which insurance company did you have? It would help us tremendously to know. We have contacted several including GEICO with which we have our cars, home, an umbrella and RV coverage but they don’t cover consignment or storage. Thanks! SWharton
Did you contact insurance brokers who specialize in RV insurance?
2gypsies
We got our insurance from Miller Insurance at that time http://www.millerrvinsurance.com/ and I believe we had National Interstate for our motorhome insurance. FL-JOE
We had National General (still do) through Good Sams when we were still part time and in the Florida sticknbrick. One benefit of having National General at the time was that they allowed you to call them when you put your RV in the storage lot and they reduced coverage/cost, then when you were ready to travel again you simply called them and they changed your policy back. They were about the only RV insurance company that would do that. If I recall correctly the savings was significant while it was in storage. Of course the issue with your situation is that if someone wants to test drive your rig it would not be covered.
