Florida Campground Suggestions please

We will be traveling to Florida in February with our two dogs and are looking for some beachside campgrounds that rent by the day/week.  Full hookups would be great, but will make do with just electric.  Will be visiting relatives near Inverness and would like to stay north of the Tampa area.  Any suggestions appreciated!  Thank you.

Welcome to the Escapee forums! It has been several years since we have been to Florida so I'll make no suggestions but a good place to research where you want to stay is on RVPark Reviews website.

You're a bit late jumping in for next February, but if you see some parks that meet your requirements for location and amenities at RVPark Reviews, start hitting the phone and hope for some cancellations  that fit your time frame. Beachside parks are at a premium during snowbird season, with many folks making reservations as much as a year ahead of time. We were late booking inland Florida sites for this winter due to a medical situation, and it took some real playing with our schedule to book state and national park sites once we got the go ahead last September for a 3-1/2 month trip.

At this late date, your best method of locating an RV site is to begin calling these S. Florida RV parks near Iverness. By the time online reservations are posted, available sites are already taken by those who phone the RV park directly. The closer you get to the Gulf, the harder it will be to find a site for Feb., then locating a dog friendly beach will be more difficult. Bear in mind the vast majority will only rent for Jan, Feb and Mar. period, but you may get lucky.

As long as you're not overly determined to get a campsite within walking distance to a beach, I really think you'll find a suitable spot.  Not every single park in Florida is already booked so don't let that scare you.  You might have to lower your expectations somewhat but you'll find a place. Start calling.

Also, not all beaches are dog-friendly so be careful and do your research first.  Here's a place to start:

Our CG in SW Florida is about 15 miles from the beaches.  There is a waiting list to get a spot for this winter and the only way to even get on the waiting list is if you are asking for a minimum of 3 months.  Many of the parks will ask for a 3 month booking during the high season.

I would also check RVParky app for the area you are targeting.  You may find a few inland parks up in that area who will take a shorter stay and put you on a waiting list.
