Smitty77_7
Was not too sure where to post this. So chose General RV. We've had a change in our travel plans, which will have us going to the Pacific Northwest this year. We enjoy staying at Evergreen, especially during the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival, 9/7 9/9 this year. This late in the game, no reservation sites are available thru the office, though we're on a waiting list for in case someone cancels. So the reason for this post, was to ask if anyone knew a lot owner at Evergreen, that may not be planning to be in the park for the month of September? We're looking for four weeks, and can be flexible going into October to make it a full four weeks, if that matters. From our previous visits, we know that not all members put their lots into the pool. Figured it does not hurt to ask, and maybe some Evergreen member will read this, or someone who knows an Evergreen member, and be able to suggest someone who might not be using their lot, and willing to rent it out for a month. (And, my DW loves to garden, so if they want - she can do a maintenance cycle on their garden for them too:)!). TIA for any leads, and best to all, Smitty
RV_
https://www.bing.com/search?q=cimicum+washington+area+RV+parks&pc=MOZI&form=MOZLBR We loved Evergreen and the Wooden Boats festival staying in the overflow spaces that back in 2000 were first come first served. But if not the above list might help.
Smitty77_7
Thanks RV. Have been checking a few of these the last few days. And business seems to be good for them all:)! We have two Elk's lodges within the region too, so possibility to land at one of them if nothing comes thru for Evergreen. And then perhaps go to Evergreen a bit later in the month. Appreciate the links:)! Best, Smitty
fly2low
check out Fort Walden in Port Townsend. Never stayed there, but have heard good things We might be back from Alaska by then. Would not mind meeting up again.

I think that he means Fort Worden State Park on the point of land that extends beyond Port Townsend. I have been there more than once and really like that park. RV_
YW smitty, If you've never visited go check out the Hoh Rainforest. We stayed just outside as the spaces were a bit small for our 36 foot Fiver. That campground was tiny and had a bad power post, but was great to base from, and had the biggest blackberries we ever saw in the lower 48. http://www.sevenwondersofwashingtonstate.com/the-hoh-rain-forest.html It's a bit of a drive from 101 but magnificent hiking trails, displays, fishing spots, and for the hiking challenged the wonders begin in the first hundred yards. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g143047-d104771-Reviews-Hoh_Rain_Forest-Olympic_National_Park_Washington.html Edited July 18, 2018 by RV_
fly2low
Kirk You are correct Hoh Rain Forrest, while great and worth a visit, would not work as a base to Port Townsend
Smitty77_7
Thanks again RV, and you too Kirk. Yes, to Hot Rain Forrest... This will be our fourth visit to the region. But, usually we've planned it far enough in advance to make what we call anchor reservations during busy travel times. Funny how things work out. As luck would have it, we've now landed an Electric and Water site only for over the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Regatta. And, then should move to a Full Hook later in September. (I called back to talk with the Office Manager Nancy, and timing was perfect. And, us being on the waiting list for cancellations helped too...) So looks like we're covered for this one:)! It is a great area to explore, and we find we go back to some of our favorite locations - as well as try to always add new hikes, and sites that we have not yet seen, while we work our way South for our annual pilgrimage to Eugene and Junction City areas of Oregon. (We have a Country Coach, and many of the former CC factory members are in various businesses in this region. They know our coach better then we do:)! So, who better for annual maintenance/fix it's and smaller modifications of our coach... Best to you two, and all, Smitty
RV_
Fly2, I didn't men it to be a base for Port Townsend. Smitty like us mentioned going several times. We would do 101 down to Warrenton Oregon to stay at http://militarycampgrounds.us/oregon/camp-rilea Then on down with another stop to Fiddler's cove on Coronado peninsula between San Diego Bay and The Pacific. http://militarycampgrounds.us/california/fiddlers-cove-rv-park Then we'd stay at a variety of Military FamCamps, Escapee coops and parks on I-8, I-10, I-20 to our winter camp on our property in Bossier City LA. Or northern return on 90 to I-25 down to the USAF Academy and over to the HitchHiker Factory in Chanute Kansas. Other years the Grand Canyon, Albuquerque, Painted Desert, Mountain Home, ID FamCamp, Yelliwstone/Denali/Yosemite/Glacier National, Banff Provincial Park Alberta, Everywhere in Alaska, Salt Lake, Hoover Dam when you could drive across the dam, Cave Dwellings, and Salmon fishibg the Kenai peninsula with breaks for halubut and King Cod out in the Gulf of Alaska just past Hitchinbrook Island. None of them will work as a base for Port Townsend either. But if one is staying near any of them, I'll mention they might want to swing by and why too. RV_
Smitty, Same here! We Visited my Mom in San Diego every year as she had Alzheimer's so we'd do Sutherlin or Warrenton/Astoria Then over To the McChord AFB Famcamp in Tacoma, then pick our route home with at least an every other year stop in Chanute for any maintenance. We loved the Columbia river on both sides/states for the lighthouses, forts, beaches, and interesting scenery. We also did Silly Con valley and then over to Travis AFB FamCamp in Fairfield California. Another area that has endless places to explore is the Los Alamos Albuquerque area. Too many to list. I loved full timing, but we had to take care of aging parents in LA. from 2003 to last year. Just finished the succession last Nevember and been selling properties and only have this five acres with hookups for sale once we figure out which town in CO or UT we are moving to. It was Colorado Springs until we found the AFB there contaminated the groundwater there. Fun times! We're going to check out the finalists in the next month or two in our like new Deluxe Scamp Fifth Wheel. So I'm servicing it out, and doing some custom work. We've a long bed Dodge Ram Diesel Cummins 5.9 to tow it with, so we can add storage boxes in the truck bed. For just us two and the dog it is fine for a month at a time. Fully self contained. We've always wanted to try the Scamp fiver when we went part time again. I'll post about it after we do our first month out in it. You enjoy the Peninsula! With them gone now it has been a while since we were there. Our son worked in Pt. Townsend and we like Coho but we also enjoyed the Clallam County Parks at both Sequim and Port Angeles. Since you are already there, you may want to take in the Sequim Lavender Festival as well.
