I'mdonewiththis forum
This is going to be interesting if nothing else! My wife and I sold our house (financial reasons) and are going to be in our 28' fiver for the foreseeable future. It is happening soon too! I mean July 22 is closing. I am really looking forward to the next adventure! Going to be a transition for my wife to go from a 1536 sq ft house with a full basement to our little trailer. I lived out on the road for 8 1/2 years in a semi and two years in our trailer while working out of town as a pipefitter. Plans are to go to NE Ohio to visit my family for a week and come back here to NE Minnesota to tie up some loose ends and see if my wife is going to quit her job like she says she wants to do. After that, who knows!!!

Kirk W
Best of luck! While it may not be happening quite the way you would have preferred, keep positive and enjoy the trip. Moving to a small RV can be a major lifestyle change but it can also be the opportunity of a lifetime. Life has a way of working out well if we just take every opportunity and open doors to experiences that most people never attain.
Pat & Pete
Sounds familiar ... it's a great life and just remind your wife that she'll be able to sleep in whenever she wants to . And , there's a lot fewer windows to wash .
missourijan
Once you get over the "getting rid of stuff" it's all gravy. We have been fulltime for 10 years. We couldn't get rid of our antiques when we sold our house so had to keep a climate controlled storage unit for 6 years. Finally, my daughter moved into a bigger house and wanted them. Some of the other special "stuff" I couldn't get rid of went easily to Goodwill after paying storage fees for that long. I still have a few things loaned out to family & friends. So, if we ever settle down, we have 4 kitchen chairs, 2 oil paintings, an antique milk can and a butter churn. Perfect! This lifestyle is great because we can all do what we choose, sell the house, keep the house, rent out the house, whatever. I wouldn't change a thing. We found that we don't want to travel all the time so we have volunteered for 8 seasons at state parks. The last 2 we took a paying job with Corps of Engineers. After this, no more working, just wandering. Good luck!
I'mdonewiththis forum
Well, my time frame has changed just a little. Due to a snafu on the part of the the whole scenario of my buyer needs to sell their house (buyer lined up) for some reason there is an appraisal that didn't get completed (everything is fine on my house) there will be a three week delay in the closing of my house. Not the end of the world, but required some changes to utility disconnects and a few other things.
2gypsies
This is only your first snafu...there will be more. Â I'm wondering if you're going to be a traveling full-timer or are you planning to stay in Minnesota? If so, as you know, a RV will not be a place to live in MN!! Â Are you retired and on Medicare? Have you decided where you will domicile? Address for registrations, license, etc.? Â Best of luck with a fast closing of the house and your new lifestyle. Technically we won't be full time, just don't tell anyone!! We are going to stay domiciled in Minnesota. Not sure how long we are going to be full time. She may decide she likes it?!?! I don't know. All I know is I am going to enjoy our 'adventure' and my wife is kind of showing some excitement too!
rynosback
This is only your first snafu...there will be more.  I'm wondering if you're going to be a traveling full-timer or are you planning to stay in Minnesota? Address for registrations, license, etc.?  Best of luck with a fast closing of the house and your new lifestyle. If he and his buyer are working with professionals, there should not be any snags. I sold my house to the new owner and had a lawyer do the contract work. I kept in touch with her bank that was doing the loan. I mean buying or selling a house is not rocket science. It just amazes me hearing that deals have so many problems. Sounds like those professionals should give back a couple of percentage points that they charge off if they can not do there job right. And the tittle company puts it all together. Still amazed that they want 6% of the selling price of a house. I sold my house for $525k. I made myself $31,500 more for not dealing with realtors. And just costed $400 in contract lawyer fees. Best of luck. As stated selling everything was the hardest part. And I also have stuff on loan to friends as I could not sell some of my belongings. But once it is done it is freeing!! I hope that you are not staying in Minasota during the winter months, BRRRRRRRRR.
Kirk W
I hope that you are not staying in Minasota during the winter months, BRRRRRRRRR. Me too! And if you are, I sure hope that you have a well insulated RV and know of an RV park that stays open all winter.
I'mdonewiththis forum
Me too! And if you are, I sure hope that you have a well insulated RV and know of an RV park that stays open all winter. My little Dutchmen is in no way capable of being used in the cold! I have been in it when the day the temps were getting to 40 and night was 25 or so. With just me and very little heating I still went through 30 pounds of propane per month....... Â rynosback, you are correct, it is easy. I did mine without a realtor. The buyer is using one (my neighbor) so it is only 3%. Also, they do not want me to replace the carpeting (it needs it), refinish the kitchen floor, no painting, no fixing up anything more. By my calculations I saved in excess of $12,000 and a ton and a half of labor! Best part is I didn't even have to deal with any paperwork. Their real estate agency handled it all. Far as the sale of my house everything is good to go, but the buyer's buyer is the one causing the hold up. This deal is contingent upon my buyer selling their house. MNRon
Good luck! We're just a little ahead of you: closed on our MN house last Friday and are now full timing for 10months or so while a smaller place with an RV garage is built here in TN. We'll be back in MN in October for a wedding, but definitely not after that when it gets cold. That last month of getting rid of stuff and packing was a lot of work, I'm glad that phase is over. The extra three weeks is probably a good thing for us. Now we will have plenty of time to clean the house up for the new owners.

I hope it's the first half of October because most parks shut off their water by the 15th. Many of them also close and lock the gates. The one at Mystic Lake Casino, south of the Twin Cities, is the only one I know of that stays open year around--not sure how they do that. Cruizercamper
We're loving full time camping! About 2 Years ago we joined coast 2 coast. We've heard mixed thoughts on mbr / pvt camping, but overall it's worked good for us. Anyone have any experience with this or tips and tricks? Kirk W
Well, the venture (or ADventure!) begins! We signed papers earlier today so now we are in or fiver. Even the cat seems to be adjusting to it!! Welcome to the road! Our fulltime adventure had to end a few years back, but those were 12 of the very best years of our lives. Even now we head out with the RV for as long as we can manage each summer and we pretend that we will never go back, as long as health issues allow. We wish you as great an experience as ours and twice as long!
I'mdonewiththis forum
It sure 'feels' different!! I am only about 5 miles from my old house right now, but I certainly feel more relaxed!! I am enjoying the "new" life!
