hdrider
In fear of sounding stupid I have a question. I use Wordpress for our blog and a few weeks ago I started getting messages like (browser not supported for this feature) when trying to do certain mods on the blog. I have gotten this on other programs also but always say to myself, ok I just don't need to go there then. But I guess it's time to change browsers, I don't even know what I'm using and really how to even tell, maybe Google I guess? My question if I simply do one of those free downloads for Google Chrome what issues might I run across? I always fear doing some change and not being able to figure out what screw-ups it creates. And we do all our banking and such online so certainly can't be without a computer long.
chirakawa
If I understand you correctly, you don't know what browser you are using. With the browser open, click on the "Help" button at the top. It should have a button called "About Internet Explorer" or "About Firefox" etc. Click on this and it will tell you what version of that browser you are using. wildmandmc
certain versions of Internet explorer (thats the big E) have problems. google chrome (round 3 colored circle) usually don't have those issue's. to make sure you get to correct site, go to google.com an on left side you usually see download chrome. after you download chrome. top right side you see 3 horizonal lines. click on that, about 6 lines down you see bookmarks/import select that, an then check box import all including history an passwords. you then get a box on top saying internet explorer imported. if you don't see this on the 3 lines click settings (at bottom). put check mark in box's show home page (house) an bookmark bar. DJW
You should upgrade to Windows 10 which will use the new Edge Browser from MS. MS is no longer support older version of IE. The latest version is 11. The upgrade to Win 10 is free. I have been using it since day 1 and have not looked back since the 2 laptop upgrades one from Win 7 Pro and one from Win 8.1 Home. Pieere
Maybe I'm the ugly Duckling; but I have been using Opera for a month with Duck-Duck-Go to search; had to change it in setting which can be found on the top right corner. Click Opera there and look for settings in the menu!
RV_
HDRider, Wordpress had some issues with infections and malware a few weeks ago. If you had issues with what browser and version of Windows just get with a buddy or family member who does know computers and get them to download Malwarebytes free: https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/ and run it then Download Norton Power Eraser: https://security.symantec.com/nbrt/npe.aspx and run it on your machine. After that if all clear either nothing found or found and fixed, then you can decide on your preferred browser. Make sure you download from the
wildmandmc
hdrider, to aid or give some comfort. if you download another browser, ti will NOT effect any setting/ password from the browser you are now using. problem most are confronted with is java, google chrome browser does not support java anymore, all older versions of IE have issue's, an yes like another person stated, getting your pc/laptop cleaned up can make a huge difference. an a infected browser can give all sorts of headache's. after downloading cleaning tools, make sure the configuration of them is set to max, such as a check box in checking root kits, pup's. ect. most programs do not come set up for this. also known as a default install. hdrider
https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ Thanks Chirakawa, I went in and followed some of those ideas, cleared the cookies and browser history ect. but still have the same message popping up so I'm beginning to be pretty certain than a browser upgrade will need to be installed, they even mention that in what they say on that link. Thanks again.

Thanks again. Yes, in the link they say that there are issues with IE10, which is what you are using. A note about Internet Explorer: Due to browser incompatibility, some themes are not fully functional in Internet Explorer 10 or earlier. If you are using Internet Explorer 10 or below we recommend upgrading your browser for an optimal experience. If you like IE, you can just upgrade to IE11 instead of going to Chrome, Firefox or something else. theeyres
Downloading Chrome is very easy. Just follow the steps in setting it up and it will import your bookmarks, passwords, and almost everything else. You will be using it 10 minutes after you download it. It shouldn't interfere with any other programs or cause any problems.
