IYQ
Lee - Did you ever check to see if the other fella's insurance company would pick up your rental? When the Class C rear ended me in Las Vegas (2011 ??) we had a rental for close to 3 weeks and it was all paid for. We didn't put out a dime. I can't believe you'd have to pick up your own rental vehicle. I talked to my company and told them what I thought. They told me to fax copied of all my reciepts to them. They are waiting for the police report then they will go after the other guys Ins C. and get their money, my out of pocket expendses and my deductable sent as a seperate check. He said they do it that way to get the repair money out to the repair co mpany as soon as possible Quote Lee (IYQ)<p>Moving from Campground to Campground so the Grim Reaper can't find me.http://www.flickr.com/photos/iyq/2013 Chevy 2500 HD Diesel pulling a 2008 Hornet TT with Hensley Arrow Hitch. IYQ
I brought the new truck over to the Campground today and will keep it here until Monday morning so I can play with all the buttons and switches and see what they do. I'd like to get a little more use to the operation before getting on the road. I also want to put a few miles on the truck at slow altering speeds before making it work hard pulling my trailer. They had to drive it up from Alabama so it already has 300 miles on it but I immagine they were put on at 75 mph all the way here. So far I'm very pleased with the truck. I think I'll just move in and get rid of my trailer. It sure is Fancy Prancy. I put on about 40 miles this evening on back road varying the speed from 35 thru 55. It was an enjoyable rid. I stopped for BBQ ribs at a place way out in the country. They were not so good. They only thing I found I don't like about the truck is while using the Navigation (in dash GPS) you have to have the radio on. If you turn the radio way down so you can't hear it. You can't here the voice directions on the NAV system. It does shut the radio sound off when it starts to say something but then it blares right back at you. Maybe if I keep turning off the route it will keep saying "Re Calculating" and keep the radio muted. LOL Well I think I'll see if I can take a Stevexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. steved44
yeah, Dave we're fine although the one passed 2 miles north of us. Thanks for asking. Looked ugly. We pulled in the slides, jumped in the truck and hi tailed it out of here. It came through just south of the firelake casino on I-40 and wiped out a big trailer park. Then crossed I-40 and knocked a couple of semi's off the overpass and the highway is still shut down. Quiet now, but we are supposed to have another bunch of storms tomorrow afternoon. They did quite a bit of damage today, and one fatality that we know of so far. hdrider
Glad your safe!! We watched that tornado touch down just south of us and then head your way. There was a helecopter tracking it so we actually watched it go through your area. We are going to leave here in the morning and head to Devils Den State Park in Arkansas. I'm sure that will probably just put us in front of the storm again. imadtchmn
From what I just read, it would not be good to be anywhere in the midwest, from OK to MI. IYQ
Darn Steve, I'll bet you didn't sleep through that one. Wow, I'm glad I went across Tornado alley as fast as possible. But then again maybe I wouldn't be in the perdicument I'm in now if I'd have stayed a day or two. You guys get your business done and tell your family they will have to come to where you are and get to heck out of there. After all you still have the Ice Cream Machine and you need to protect it for me. Kidding aside, I'm sure glad you're OK. I'll keep you in my prayers and hope you get on the road again soon. Â I guess bad luck comes in 3's. When I tried to get the new truck on my insurance police I was told that Foremost can no longer accept any Tow Vehicles and I'd have to get insurance elsewhere. After the way I was treated by Farmer's maybe that is good news. Foremost was the agent and they had the old truck insured through Farmer's. Anyway I called PoliSeek (Agent) they wrote me a policy with Interstate Insurance co. It's a better policy with more coverage but cost a bunch more too. I asked Foremost if the reason they would not insure my new truck was because of the accident. They said NO, we can no longer write any policies for Tow Vehicles for anyone. Maybe that was why the old policy was so cheap. Anyway I'm temporarily insured until I can get the new vehicle registered in South Dakota. The new policy is a Full-timers policy and protects my belonging in the vehicles for $5k where the old policy was only for $2k. It also has a diminishing deductable and will completely cancel in 4 years with no claims. And additional expenses like car rental and motel bills will be paid. I also jacked up the liability to $100K/$300K. I pray I'll never have to use it again. You guys put in a few words for me with the boss upstairs that this should be the end of all my bad luck. steved44
Well, this round missed us too, but much damage on the south side of OKC. Moore Oklahoma took the brunt of the tornado, and there were quite a few fatalities. It went north of us and did not get near as close as the one yesterday did. IYQ
Steve, You get out of there and stop sending all your storms this way. I just got an alert on my phone that we are under a Tornado Watch. But no warning as yet. I have the truck now all comlete and the rental is turned in. I'm debating wheather to hook up tonight with this tornado watch in effect. If I leave in the morning I'll be running right along in front or with the storm. Maybe this 6.6 Diesel can out run it? LOL The one thing in my favor is that most storms take a left turn right about here and go farther north. However the forcast for Crossville and Kingston is for severe Thunder Storms tomorrow and the next day. And that is where I plan to stop next. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.... Now that I've got most of the trouble taken care of, I'm actually beginning to sleep most of the night, And when I wake up to take a stroll down the hall I can go right back to sleep again. My blood pressure is starting to level out and give me consistant readings. Feels good. Jerry and Janice: I'd love to take you two out to dinner but I don't know if I'll be stopping at the Bean Pot or not. I may drive on the Kingston so that I'll get in a little earlier the next day in NC. I'd hate to have you drive up from GA and me not be there. For some reason I'm in a little bit of a hurry now. Maybe it's because I was supposed to be at my bank two weeks ago to sign some papers. LOL If I don't get in before the bank closes on friday I won't be able to get in until Monday. IYQ
I'm in Baileyton, TN just west of Johnson City, TN and only about 80 or 90 miles from my old home. I had planned to stop in Kingston but when I saw the RV Park I pulled out and kept on going down the road. It was a dump and to top it off they wanted $33.50 and there was no office, it was honor system. There were only about 5 trailers in the park and they looked like trash. The grass was about a foot deep and junk all over the place. So If you are heading east on I-40 and you were planning to overnite in the Four Seasons RV Park near Kinston. Just keep on truckin' When I got to Baileyton there was a new Good Sam park here and it is about 3/4 mile off the freeway. It's quiet and fairly well kept up. Price $25. I only have a couple of hours driving left so I'll be in Linville tomorrow, Thursday and have pleanty of time to hit the bank before the weekend. I don't know why but yesterday I was thinking it was Wednesday when it was Tuesday. I think maybe I am making my tea a little too strong.
