steved44
New Choppers!! Last year when I broke my bridge, they told me I couldn't get another one because the anchor tooth was no good. Well it took a year, but I finally got it done. I went to Algadonas (sp?) when we were in Yuma, and the dentist there told me it would take a year and he would charge $2500 or so for the implants. Well I had it done here in Oklahoma and it took a year and it was about $2500 with my insurance, so I guess they've been talking across the border. You have to let the implants sit for about 4 months after they are installed, but by then we were in Maine, so it had to wait until we got back this spring to finish. My dentist bolted them in today, and said go eat something. I headed over to Bricktown Brewery and tried them out on a "chicken fried steak", and they did the job well. Boy is it hot here today. 99 degrees and I feel every bit of it. This is the time I wished we had the third air conditioner unit on the roof. I know the people coming down here to this wedding in a couple of weeks will love this. I really should take the front TV out and insulate the front cap to see if we can improve it, but I know that altitude and north will help a lot. Carol may have to have knee replacement surgery, so if that happens, I may have to trade this bus for one with three airs . I know you've seen the bathtub setup they advertise in AARP, and other "old folks" magazines, with the door you open to get in and the seat with the water jets. Well they should make one of those for a motorhome. That's really the only thing my old arthritic body misses from the sticks and brick. I think one of them would fit, now I just have to convince Tiffin, Winnebago or someone to make it an option. Ha Just think bubbling in the tub with the coyotes howling outside in the BLM, now that's living!! Oh and don't forget the baaaad whisky/cranberry juice!! Lee, glad you had a nice visit with your GG, and you got your shop till you drop card back. If you head west, I've got the tornados all captured in a corral, so you can make it through here. Roger & Lynn
Woke up from my nap yesterday to hear Lynn exclaiming the Tina & Jeff were at our door...what a great surprise! Had a good visit with them and Jeff stopped back at our fire later for some "cranberry juice" and swapping news about our travels. Learned more about that ice cream machine. Looking forward to trying it out when we get that way. More rain today but hoping that it holds off long enough for round two this evening. You better hurry up because I'm heading that way and this time I'm going to sneakup on him and install that Ice Cream machine on the tail gait of my new Truck. Then make a dash West to hide in the Colorado Mtns so he can't find me. Toni & Doug. I could use that White Grease, I use a lot of it. But it only cost $4+ a can and it would't be worth while to pay the postage on it. Tell Doug to put it in his tool box it's great for greasing the stabilizer jacks to keep the working free and keep them from rusting. Steve: Are the fences on that coral high enough to contain those tornados. I'm thinking about going West via South America to stay out of their path. Or maybe Via Canada Everyone Else, If your name is Steve don't read this: That will throw Steve off so I can sneak up on that Ice Cream Machine. I hope Colorado is still there when I get there. IYQ
My mail still didn't get here and it has my truck registration in it. I'm beginning to get a little nervous. If it comes Monday I think I'll head out anyway even if I only get a few miles in. I went to Johnson's RV, which is a very large service center, to get a new Woodall's. No luck. They said "since Camping world took over Woodall's they can't get it any more". They didn't have Trailer Life either. I guess I'll have to depend on the internet now. Steve don't know it but I bribed that cute little blond at the Grand Casino to keep me informed about the Ice Cream machine. Steve can't even talk to her. If he did Carol would kill him. IYQ
Today I successfully defended my title of All Time World Champion Thumb Twiddler. I'll stage another attempt to get out of here and head West in the morning. I sure hope my mail is here so I can leave. I'll have to wait until about 10AM to go to the P.O. to give them time to sort the mail. If I get out of here by noon day I'll go at least 100 miles and at least get the show on the road. Like Steve I need to take a vacation from resting. Maybe if when I get to OK city we can take that vacation together. I'm sure looking forward to DRY weather although I'm not too anxious about getting into the Heat. All together now. Everyone SMILE. dlcarsonak
I took my daughter to lunch on Friday and left the east behind me. The humidity, the rain, the grandchildren all needing new ball gear. I did have a beautiful lite show in Iowa at 1am with lightning streaking across the sky behind the clouds. Lots of heavy rain so it was a good time to refuel the car and me until it let up a little. Surprised Glyn by coming home on Saturday instead of Sunday but he anticipated that and already had washed the dished, washed the sheets and washed the dog .I was told.he rolled in something, the dog not Glyn. Good trip other than the rain. We are going to try and stay in Hondo, TX for the month of Nov. so our daughter can come for a visit, then to Artesia, NM for December and then right after the new year to Naco, Mexico so Glyn can get new choppers. We will probably try to stay at Benson as they said it would take two weeks to get them done. From there it's on to AZ to boondock in Q. We may check with the California border patrol to se if we can get our truck to Sidewinder Road without a fine. They say our truck is commercial and needs all the stickers that go with it. If we can get through we can meet there if that is the choice, otherwise we vote for the Q Parker BLM area and not hassle with the CA police. But wherever the majority want to go is fine with us. We plan to be in that area from the 15th of Jan to the end of Feb at least. If the smoke gets too much for all you folks in CO you can come to WY for a visit, we are still allowed to have a campfire with our morning coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cranberry juice or whatever, every day for our campers to come out and visit. We even put up a shade tent today so Glyn's head won't sunburn when he falls asleep in his chair. Glad for all the chatter from everyone as it's nice to catch up. PS to Julie...don't let Mike take that new truck out on the four-wheeler trails. Can't wait to check out all the new rigs when next we meet....be careful going to that AS factory in Ohio, you might come out with a similar looking but different house as there is a trend in the air around here. Happy Fathers Day from us as well to all the dads. I took Glyn to the burger joint up the street for a burger and milk shake which he had to pay for but it was my idea and I drove so he could sightsee and it's the thought that counts. td12class
Hello friends! We don't often seem to have adequate internet service where we are near Bayfield, CO but it's working at the moment so wanted to check in. We don't get to check the blogs of those of you posting, or even read the forums... but, we do wish to keep in touch and look forward to seeing those of you gathering in January at Quartzsite or wherever. The weather did cooperate when I got here. It stopped raining so I could get set up for the night. Going through Knoxville, traffic was only moving at 5 miles per hour for a 5 mile stretch. I don't know what caused it. I didn't see any accidents or construction. Now I'm pooped and ready to take a Steeeeeeeeveeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..... hdrider
We have been hanging out in Red Bay Alabama the last 8 days. Needed to have our Wet Bay floor replaced under warranty. And we had a couple other little things fixed while here as well as had service done. We had a 40" LED smart tv installed up front and a 29" LED installed in the bedroom. Now it's time to move on. I think a whole 80 miles to Joe Wheeler State Park today. Probably stay a few days then on to Nashville. steved44
Hey, Dave, what brand tv did you use in the bedroom? I going to have to replace mine one of these days. We had a Samsung smart tv installed last year in the front and sure like it. Did they run an HDMI cable from the front control box to the rear tv area? That looks like a fun project. We have a couple of our friends just arrived in Red Bay. Dan & Irene, they are in an 03 Allegro bus with no toad. Didn't realize they were going there until they called us yesterday evening. I guess Red Bay is busy all the time! We are actually moving today, or at least pulling the pin loose for a week. Heading over to Norman Oklahoma for a family wedding. Carol's nephew is getting married and she's shooting the wedding. All of her bunch from Wisconsin are going to show up tomorrow, so we are going to park at the county fairgrounds there so we will be close to the action. IYQ
Ah Ha. Steve is going to be gone for a week and I'm closing in on Shawnee. That Ice Cream machine should be easy pickings. I pulled in at Parkers Corners for the night. It didn't rain but I ran through dense fog most of the morning. There was another traffic tie up in Nashville, TN. But it only lasted for about a mile. I'm sure glad I don't live in a big city. My Garmin froze up on me. I couldn't even shut it off. Neither the switch or pulling the power plug had any effect. After about a half hour running on battery it finally turned itself off so I could reboot it. I'm sure glad I knew were I was going. It works fine now. It looks like Dave and Diane will pass tomorrow on I-40. Too bad we are going in different directions. I won't be able to meet them and have dinner with them. Then out fumble them when the bill comes. Wave as you go by Dave. hdrider
We put a 29" Samsung in the back,, not a smart TV. To be honest I think we have watch TV in the bedroom twice. I was more into the added storage we gained behind the new TV on the hinged door. That BIG OLD tv took up that entire cabinet. Now we can put everything that needs charged back there plus some. And we are going to be staying at Joe Wheeler State Park until Monday,, then we have reservations at Yogi Bear RV Park in Nashville until Sunday. From there we have no real clue other than we will head towards Pigeon Forge. And we are just having plain ol BBQ hamburgers tonight so your PBJ sandwiched are a pretty close second LOL!!!
