    Tire Monitor

I have TST and I love it. It's amazing how much fluctuation there is in your tires from cold to hot.
  2. I think you may have to do that anyway because years of running duals may have ruined the threads. Remove that inside wheel and now you have an inch of threads that has never been used.
  3. Trim, below is an example of some open vs closed shoulder tires. The left are open shoulder. This example is pretty aggressive you can get them with smaller lugs. We run only open shoulder tires on all our trucks because we are off road a lot. If you never leave the pavement then closed shoulder are better. Better fuel economy, they are quiet, they last longer, and some people say they ride better. My opinion is if you even think you might go off the pavement even once a year open shoulder is better. They have better traction. Especially where you say you might want to remove the inside dual and go with singles. look at the tire in the picture all they to the right. I would never consider using that as a drive tire. Not around here. Sothern states pavement only sure. I have had the idea for a while of running singles when I need new tires. if you do that keep us informed on how well it works. I see trailers with "skinny singles" all the time. I do not want super singles. Nothing against them I just don't want to spent the money on new rims.

    Rough Road

When we were exploring around western Nebraska I took this road because it has a few large farms on in and I wanted to be nosey. We stayed the night at Big Springs then went west a little bit on I80 then north on 27 to highway 30. That little stretch of 27 was the worst road I've ever been on. Its an official state highway but I couldn't drive over 45. When we got to the end I crawled under the trailer to make sure I didn't break any springs.
  5. Ok I will try to get that done in the next couple days.
  6. I have had zero problems with it. Yes, that is the plan but, I have this nagging voice in my head saying if it isn't broke don't fix it.
  7. I posted this before but couldn't find it. Might have been on one of the Facebook pages. Mine is plug and play however the placement was probably not a good choice. I have plenty of cord so I will be moving it into a box as some point. Been here for 5 years. A couple oil leaks (now fixed), and a few gravel roads make sure it stays good and grimy under there.
  8. The old 1990 T-800 will hold air for 3 days. My 2020 T-880 has to air up every day. No audible air leaks so it's fine.
  9. Local John Deere dealer gave us 300-gallon tote. When its full they come get it and bring an empty. They run it in the shops waste oil heater.
  10. I guess I don't get too excited because we have numerous pieces of equipment and at any given time one of them is in the shop. Right now, our Silage chopper is in the shop getting a head gasket. Also have 2014 Kw ISX Cummins in another shop. It was building pressure blowing the coolant out. Currently waiting for them to tell me if it's a head gasket or a dropped liner. What really sucks is the chopper got a new head gasket last year. Why is it blowing 2 in 2 years. I ran it personally. Never got hot never used oil. Looking at the side of the engine one morning and it's covered in oil and losing compression to the outside.
  11. Depending on how big a bottle of Howes you used it takes twice as much to winter treat. We go through several cases a year on the farm. We couldn't get blended fuel until after harvest was over this year.
  12. There was a guy that does HDT driving classes at the West Coast Rally a couple years ago. I had his info but lost it. I don't think the guy does social media. If Chad Heiser runs across this maybe, he can relay the info. I didn't take the class but others who did said he was really good.
  13. Its petty simple. That customer service guy is really good if you have trouble.
  14. Do your own service and then you won't have that problem.
  15. South Dakota and Wyoming just got totally blasted with snow. Should be good by the time you get there. Good Luck. Don't go down the mountains any faster than you went up and you will be fine.
  16. Currently we are running several different brands on our trucks. One has Kelly KDA open shoulder. It's a silage truck off road more than on. Really good tire. Zero complaints. Boss has Michlin on his truck from the factory. They are fine, I guess. That truck is pretty much highway only and sits around a lot. I forget what's on my brother's truck. I have Yokoyama tires on my HDT and my work truck with BFG steer tires. They have been really good on and off road. I had Goodyear tires on my work truck from the factory. I will never ever have them again. I had bad luck with them in the past and I proved it again. I hate them. They were good for about a year. I had really good luck with Hankook smart flex drive tires. I would have them on my work truck right now, but I couldn't get them at the time. Continental is another good cheaper brand. We run them on our grain trailers. I prefer to run BFG on my steers. I don't know what it is, but I really like them. My HDT currently has mis matched seer tires. I've got a Uniroyal all position on one side and Michelin on the other. Waiting for the Michelin to age out then I will grab a new pair of whatever I can get. What it boils down to these days is what is available. Just stay away from the double coin and other really cheap tires. We do have Double Coin on one truck, but it doesn't go far from the farm. They are stiff and more difficult to dismount than others. If you don't put 100,000 miles on a year you don't need really expensive tires. They are really all about the same. Mine will age out way before I wear them out. I will be cycling used drives off one of the other trucks to the HDT when the time comes but I don't put that many miles on a year.
  17. I would rather have oil bath because changing a little oil is easier than repacking bearings all the time. I have a friend that converted his oil bath to grease on his camper because that is what he wanted. Most semi-trailer have oil hubs. Except for my brand-new semi-trailer came with grease hubs. I guess because of the disc brakes. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but I suppose it boils down to personal preference.
  18. Mine has been singled I kind of wish I had a tandem. It is what it is. I would never go back to using a pickup truck again.
  19. 2 of my neighbors have outdoor kitchens. The only thing they use it for the fridge for beer. Most times it doesn't work right because there is not enough ventilation in that cubby and it's too small to hold a days worth of beer.
  20. Yes it is. I figured we can power wash outside then use a garden hose to hand wash inside.
  21. Put the Money Pit in his new home. building is done. Just waiting for the electrician. I strung a cord from another building to run the heater. This is the new home for the restored antique tractors kids toys and my personal vehicles. Its 70x30 drive through with an additional 30x30 tacked on.
  22. My question is What happens if you pull into the state and they find that you don't pass? Do they turn you around and say get lost or do they fine you and make you get it towed to the state line?
  23. I really want to get out there with the kids before they grow up. But it's going to be a few years. I could take my work truck. But 36-inch sleeper with 2 teenagers in it don't sound like much fun.

    Locker cost

Put lockers in one of our farm trucks pre covid. It cost 10 grand.

    hitches

I have a comfort ride. It was really nice and shiny. This coating was never supposed to come off, but it faded a little. It's better than paint or Powdercoat that will chip off and rust. First picture was brand new out of the box 5 years ago. Second was taken a couple months ago. It's not the best picture of the hitch but you can see there is not much difference. It's never covered and always outside.
