  1. At least the pot smokers don't leave cigarette butts everywhere.
  2. I have a FL 60 with a roll back bed on it. I don't remember what year it is. Mid 90s. Cummins and Allison transmission. It's a great truck but you won't be breaking any speed records. This one will top out at about 65mph.
  3. Yes, that is a muffler. I had a short stack between the headache rack and back of the cab. I have since removed that generator and bought a Kubota diesel that put on the bed.
  4. Yep, we did. I will remember to get a hold of you next time. This was a real quick trip. We got there Thursday afternoon. Then went to the Newport aquarium Friday. Saturday we just hung out with the family. Had lunch at the brewery in Aurora Then Sunday morning, I put it in the wind and almost made it the 800 miles home.
  5. We are home now but we stayed at the Beyonder campground at Rising Sun In. Formally little farm RV park.
  6. Got all loaded up for a week-long trip out to southern Indiana to hang out and camp with family.
  7. Update. I got the 7,000. It's used with 1700 hours and paid $3,000 for it. Less than half price of new. Technically the farm bought it and as an employee I get to "borrow it". The boss is using it his week with his much smaller 30-amp trailer. He said its working just fine. I tried it out on my trailer and as expected I can only run one AC. That is fine with me its way better than what I had before.
  8. Northern states fudge the clearance to allow for snow and Ice pack in the winter. I am 13'6 exactly. Should not have any trouble on any interstate anywhere.
  9. That is a tiny amount of rust. I live on a gravel road in Nebraska. I wish my trailers only had that much. Hit it with a wire wheel and rattle can it.
  10. Our microwave took a crap this spring. Problem is its smaller than normal so having a hard time finding one. The exhaust fan still works fine.
  11. Getting ready for a little trip to Indiana next week to see the in-laws. Packing bearings on the trailer has been fun. 3 auto parts stores to get seals. Napa had 2. Then I messed one up. So, I went to car quest. They had 2. Then I hit Auto Value, they had a bunch and they cost half of what Napa charged me. Frustrating. I finally got a diesel generator bought so I will be mounting that on the bed temporally. Probably just throw a couple ratchet straps over it. I have a 50-gallon gas tank on the bed. I have to clean that out and put diesel in it. Winter project coming up. Remove the gas tank off the bed. Move the toolbox that the old generator was in ahead and install another saddle tank behind that to feed the generator.
  12. Comfort ride hitches do have one screwed down to them. The only problem Iran into with that is when I am picking up old campers for salvage. Some of the old mid 70s and older 5th wheel trailers had a shorter pin. I had to take the plate off a couple times when puling those old trailers.
  13. Ok. That must have happed before I was was here.
  14. Thats the second truck to get hit by lightning. I believe Rogers Jones old red Volvo got hit shortly after he sold it. If I remember right the guy got it fixed.
  15. All 5th wheels will be difficult to release if there is forward pressure on them. Sometimes you have to chalk the trailer tires and back up a hair to get it to release. There is a trucker trick to keep jerks from pulling the pin. Set the trailer brakes and pull ahead to put pressure on the pin then set the tractor brakes.
  16. Temps are good. My work truck hardly ever gets up to 200 degrees loaded gross 95,000 lbs.
  17. See if the DMV will make you a copy of what is needed to comply. Keep that in a binder with your registration and insurance card.
  18. I had the work done at a horse trailer dealer. They boxed them AND put in 3 cross braces with channel iron tying left and right sides together. If they bend again, I will have bigger issues than just that!
  19. My Kenworth has the 565. Keep an eye on the front cover of the engine. Mine came loose and started leaking oil. Dealer said it's been a common problem on the 565. I don't know if the 500s have that issue but it's something to keep an eye out for. They tightened the bolts down by hand. So far so good.
  20. I will try that. Thanks!
  21. Hopefully fixed another leak. I noticed a lot of fresh oil on the rubber hose connecting the fill tube. IT was rock hard and came off in chunks. No way it was sealing properly. Once I got it off, I couldn't squeeze it without it breaking. I cleaned the entire area so on my next drive I can check for more leaks.
  22. I've been following this tread. I love the title. When to stop fixing. You are not alone with the never-ending fix list. Let's see... on the truck. Replace entire AC system. Condenser, all the lines, and compressor. Head gasket, 6 injectors, replace the transmission, re-bearing the rear end. Adjust drive line angles, leaky water pump, new rad overflow tank and replace ALL the coolant lines, new charge air cooler, new turbo and exhaust manifold. I'm still chasing oil leaks. On the trailer. Had to get the shackles straightened on our first trip. I still think I bought it that way and missed it when I did my inspection. 🤦‍♂️. New tires bearings and brakes Replaced the fridge. Added a second AC unit, Now the water heater decided to spring a leak. And the wife shut the handrail in the slide. Bending all kinds of stuff. For some reason when I turn on the 4-way flashers all the lights blink.
  23. If you want to get the truck home. Go to Walmart and get a drain pan and oil. Change your oil yourself. Forget about the filter. If you have to do it again in another 500-1000 miles, do it. At least you can get home and use the shop of your choice. At this point you really should have the oil pan pulled and main bearings checked anyway. I grew up around a bunch of poor owner operators. More than one has limped their trucks home this way.
  24. Always pull the dip stick then wipe it off and check it again especially if it's been running. If it's that much over full you have a problem.
