  1. We are still planning on coming down for a couple days. I did not register because I don't know for sure we will make it. This lands right in the middle of our soy bean harvest.

    flooding

Hopefully everything turns out right and insurance takes care of you.
  3. I have tried several different things. None of them work. I even had a body shop try on one vehicle. Within a coupe months they were foggy again. Aftermarket headlights are cheap enough I am going to replace mine some day. I don't drive at night so I don't care if they are yellow. I just haven't gotten tired of looking at them yet.
  4. I know a guy that would slip wooden shims in between the break pad and drum when he parked his semi trailers for a long time. They always rusted. This helped. I don't know why you couldn't do it with a HDT. I would chalk the wheels just for extra insurance.

    Boxes

I bought all my boxes used. Online equipment auctions and truck salvage yards for a fraction the price of new.
  6. I have state farm. My truck cost $75 a month for full coverage.
  7. My Uncle was sign guy. He did a few hood decals in vinyl on semi trucks. They did not like the heat and only lasted a few years. They started to curl up on the edges so he quit doing them. Maybe now they have a better product than they did 10 years ago when he was doing it.
  8. I forgot about the archway in Kearney. It is an interactive muesuem that is built over interstate 80. Its all about the pioneers that headed west on the Oregon and Mormon trail. Well worth the visit. https://archway.org/ Then there is Pioneer Village in Minden. I have never been there but its on my short list of places I need to see. http://pioneervillage.org/ If you make it to the east side of Nebraska you can stop by the farm. I only have a 30 amp plug in. Or there is a real nice campground near here on the Elkhorn river.
  9. If you are going to the black hills stop off at Toadstool park in north western Nebraska. A MUST SEE is the train yard in North Platte. You are allowed to boondock there. Its really awesome. You could spend a half a day there easy. Its the largest rail yard in the world. https://goldenspiketower.com/
  10. Yes I think that will work. I couldn't remember what to call it. I worked with a similar product some 20 years ago. It was pretty cheap and didn't work well. I googled it and checked the link $Spot gave me. It looks like a much better product than it was before. That is a good idea.
  11. I have an old 33ft Jayco. I want to add a second unit over the bedroom. On hot days the one just don't keep up. My trailer 30 amp and is not wired for a second unit. So, I will have to get a second plug on the camper somewhere. I know I will have to run a separate cord to the pole. No problem there. My main unit is a Coleman max. The second unit is also a Coleman so they will match. The second one has the controls on the unit so no need for a second thermostat. I just cant figure out how I am going to run a wire across the ceiling and down the wall and outside. Without it falling down or looking too trashy. Conduit? PVC pipe? Height is not an issue either. I'm only 11 ft 6. I want to use something like this for the plug. Id like to find a 20 amp outlet. This one is only 15. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-15-Amp-125-Volt-Straight-Blade-Grounding-Power-Inlet-Outlet-Gray-001-05278-CWP/301304898?cm_mmc=Shopping|G|Base|D27E|27-2_WIRING_DEVICES|NA|PLA|71700000034239053|58700003946878363|92700031954447748&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInOWNtaS54wIVh5-fCh1_AwaOEAQYASABEgKS0fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I am not going to work on it until this winter. Right now I'm just bouncing ideas around. We are actually going to do 2 campers. My brother is adding a second unit to his also. BUT his is a 50 amp and is pre-wired . We are going to do his first.

    Ac problem

Fix them all. I run my bunk air all the time. Even in my work truck. Yesterday it was 98 degrees out. Lots of heat coming in the cab from the sleeper.

    Ac problem

I had one line leaking on my Freightliner. They were all corroded together. Ended up with everything new from the condenser back. Got lucky and didn't have to replace the evaporator coils.
  14. I mounted my Onan in a tool box that I got from Vander Haags salvage yard. I had an electrician run outlets and a breaker box. I have one 30 amp and two 20 amps on the bed. Four 20 amp outlets inside the cab. I got a 50 gallon John Deere fuel tank. Mounted to the bed. Bolted through the cross member and to the headache rack using the factory mounts. I have run the exhaust through 2 car mufflers. It is very quiet.
  15. I jumped my Pete with our dodge doully farm truck. Took a little longer than 5 minutes but less than 10. I have jumped semi trucks off all kinds of vehicles. Cars Pickups tractors whatever is handy. Sometimes it takes a half hour or longer but it gets the job done. You can jump start a semi off a Geo metro if you have all day.
  16. I better add to this that you only need like 5 lbs of pressure.
  17. I had plans to use an old RV pump but then I got the HDT so I didn't change anything. Using the truck air is way faster than the little compressor.
  18. I have a hdt so I strap them down to the flat bad. Before I had the semi i towed with a long box pickup. There was enough room in the bed to put the barrel in front of the 5th wheel. These are the pictures I took when I was testing out my idea. The cheap 12 volt compressor has since burned up. I would suggest a better one. It was slow but worked. Even a small one from harbor freight worked pretty good.
  19. I carry a couple plastic 55 gallon drums of water. Pit a spigot in one bung and a shrader valve in the other. Pressurized with air it will push water down garden hose to refill your tank. I don't have a picture of this on my phone. I will post one when I get to the computer.
  20. There are worse places to be stuck then Winnemucca. Good news is its a pretty easy fix but you will likely need new brakes on that side.
  21. Wow that is process. I just walked into the DMV and told them what I wanted to do. The lady got out a big book and asked me 6 questions. She said I had to answer yes to 4 of the 6. I did and walked out with my plates. No inspection, no pictures just some yes or no questions. I didn't even start the conversion yet and got my plates.
  22. I had the idea to make one of these out of a pickup box trailer when all I had was a suburban. But I thought thats too redneck even for me. Then I start seeing these pop up. I could have bee a millionaire.
  23. I wet with a factory one from Detroit through Freightliner. Just because if it failed on the road I can go to any freightliner dealer for warranty.
  24. I just use google maps and a truckers road atlas.
  25. We use a system called Cab Cam on our tractors and combine. They work great. They take a ton of abuse. I even have one out on the end of the auger so my wife can see when she loads the trucks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/323762453368
