  1. I like our short rig for our part-time lifestyle. If we were to full time, I would definitely want a longer wheelbase to do a Smart car or some other small vehicle on the bed of the truck. As a part-timer we pull a toy hauler so we carry a vehicle in the trailer for our needs, UTV or more recently a Suzuki Samurai.
  2. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our HDT community.
  3. Tragic situation that should have never happened... Very good commentary in the video.
  4. I hope we can make it again next year.
  5. Why would you want to? New hardware can not be that expensive.

    HDT

On our trip down to the national, we lost track of all the MDTs and HDTs we saw pulling "horse trailers", stackers and RVs. At least a dozen...
  7. Set up our reservation for the rally. Site 304. It'll be nice to get back to the ECR and see everyone!
  8. We'll be hitting the road in the morning for Hutch, too...
  9. We're looking forward to seeing everyone again.
  10. I thought he pretty much double tows a Snap-On truck…
  11. Amen. I carry some filters, air governor, some air line repair supplies and a modest (embarrassing by David's standard) tool kit...
  12. At what point does everyone start hauling around a complete spare truck?? Lets check the list: supplies for a complete oil change. supplies for a complete coolant change a spare every filter, screen, airline, coolant line, oil line on the truck a drive tire a steer tire an ECU, TCU, Lighting control module, a laptop with manufacturer software to configure them every tool know to mankind Where does the madness stop?
  13. I used a 6-way weather pack plug to a 5-core wire down to my Jackalopee output bus bar. This is also where I tied in the "safety lights" on the back of the farings.
  14. She officially has a name now. It's been a long road, but she is coming back together. Memorial weekend will be her first trip back out with the camper.
  15. I have a heated shop in the back, so the nose of that camel is already in the tent. I've planted the seed of "ceiling" now. The unwritten item on that approval is insulation. I really don't want to make the entire building a "warm" work space all winter. If I can get it to be a 3-season work space, I'll be satisfied.

    Tool of the week

If “we are the pie”, does this mean it goes over the hole in the sleeper floor?
  17. Lots going on for me these days. Several years of saving and lobbying she-who-controls-the-budget, I finally have concrete in the barn where the trailer and truck live! While the concrete is curing (30 days before I can put the truck and trailer in there) so I'm still chipping away at making all the lights on the truck work. This is a dandy little turn signal, running, brake and reverse light that RVH's Jack Mayer turned me onto, so we have a bit of an upgrade along with all the repairs. There are still many more Boogey Light strips to mount and wire, but we're on the way... The final item is a little work on myself. I had a little minor surgery to remove a bit of skin cancer on my nose during this whole time too. (Everything went fine and I'm good) I definitely won't add a photo of that...
  18. Thanks for the info, Nigel!
  19. Did they ever import a manual transmission Smart to the US? If so what years? What years were the diesel Smarts available in Canada? Are they old enough to get one into the US?
  20. Mothballs also work well for mice.
