  1. He said "our 1st 5th Wheel (TT)". He also used "TT" several times in his post. So is it a 5er or a TT? Or is there a 5er company producing a unit named TT?
  2. Use Google or some other search engine to find comparable RVs. That will be a better indicator than anything anyone here can offer. Keep in mind a dealer WILL drop the price to sell an RV. A private individual may not, especially if they still owe money for it. While you think you have found a cream puff, DO NOT get caught in the trap that you MUST HAVE THAT RV!!! If you do, the seller has already won and you have already lost.
  3. At a big box hardware store in Durango, CO a few years ago, I saw a guy with a monkey on his shoulder. I queried an employee about it. He said the person would likely just claim it is a service animal and that would end the conversation.
  4. I have always found a loud "NO!" stops dogs in their tracks. And it usually attracts the attention of potential dog owners in close proximity. I like the idea of an air horn, unless I have my dog with me. Wouldn't want to freak him out.
  5. One thing you could do is go to the "RVing with pets" sub forum and search ONLY that forum. It might cut down on the unrelated results.
  6. The way I read his initial and follow-up posts, Lance does not appear to be looking for a workamping job. Seems more like he wants a security-related job and his wife is looking for a teaching position. The vast majority of workamping jobs are (state) minimum wage or less. Yes, some pay more.
  7. Had ordered a pair of OEM replacements from CARiD that were supposed to be overnighted. After a goat rope with CARiD, I found out they do NOT ship overnight. Today I ordered a pair from Lippert and paid $369 to overnight. This afternoon I still had not received a shipping notice so I called Lippert to check on the status. Despite everything being done right, the CSR had no idea why they didn't ship out. KRAZY!! So I am back to where I was 2 days ago. But, tomorrow I'll head to the repair shop and have one of the original leafs put into the stack to get the capacity up to where it needs to be. Lippert is sending the 2 new sets to the park we'll be at for the summer. Hopefully over the next 3 weeks I can get both sets replaced. Should be on the road by noon and arrive at the park by 2. Will go thru an RV wash and the Cat scales on the way out of Missoula.
  8. Broke the rear curb-side leaf spring yesterday. Luckily able to get 2 ratchet straps onto the axle and limped into Missoula. Currently sitting in a truck repair garage waiting on parts to be overnighted. Lippert leaf springs are a non-standard 7-leaf, 25" eye-to-eye. Spring suppliers in town have 25" sets but they are only 6-leaf. Repair guy said he "could" add a leaf and it should work. He said if it were his coach, he'd wait on the right parts, so... Having 2 sets sent to replace both rears and will have an original spring for a spare. Coach is 4 yrs old. I am close to max weight, but not over. Maybe it was just the culmination of bumpy roads, IDK. Hope to get back on the road and to our destination tomorrow afternoon.
  9. In 12 years it'll be too late to change anything, so... At least that is what Bernie and AOC claim. Those 2 are so brilliant, I gotta believe them. Or maybe not.
  10. I have been using a Dish 1000.2 dish and both EA and WA LNBs for about 3 years. I also have a Super Buddy to aid in pointing. I do not always get good signal, but it is good enough. I do not bother setting up if only stopping for an overnight. More hassle than it is worth. And, sometimes chatting with a Dish CSR to change the service address for locals is a pain. If I had the funds, a Trav'ler would have been GREAT!! So wicked easy to use!! But, if you're in the trees, you're screwed.
  11. Al uses his vast wealth and buys "carbon offsets". The other 99% of us don't have the funds to do that.
  12. The graph above does not confuse climate with weather. As has been stated previously, the climate has been changing ever since there has been a climate. When the term "global warming" failed to raise an alarm, the term was altered to "climate change". Now humans think they can reverse the current trend of climate change, but only some countries need participate. It is unfortunate floods happen, but they have happened before. This time an AFB was impacted. I remember several years of flooding, decades ago, when the cities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks were flooded. Similar story to AFBs near Tampa and the Fla panhandle being hit by hurricanes. Its not a national security threat just because a military base is in the direct path of nature. What about earthquakes in CA or tornadoes in KS and OK. A mile-wide twister could easily wipe out the flightline and hangars at McConnell or Tinker.
  13. Today is our Day 1. Will keep the Fla domicile for a bit, but will likely change to SD in a year or so. Was just easier to keep Fla for now. But, over $1,100 just to insure my 2011 dually is enough to make me want to change. S&B sale should close within a month, as long as the inspections go well, which they should. Don't know how long we'll FT, but I know I won't buy another house. Maybe a condo, but not interested in a house again. Unlikely to live in Fla again, either. MT this summer, probably AZ this winter, then who knows.
  14. Since you said you can use Amazon, just use them instead of hauling multiple bags with you. By now you should have a good idea of how long a bag lasts you. If you really want a buffer, order another bag once you open a bag.
  15. Original mattress was thin junk from the Colorado Mattress Co. Replaced it with a regular mattress from a mattress store. It was fine for a few years, but I wanted a king bed in the RV since we have a king in the S&B. I'm VERY happy with the Purple mattress I bought for the RV. Not cheap, but sleep is GREAT, now that I'm used to it. If you KNOW what bed you have in you S&B and you are happy with it, consider buying one for your RV. That should mean no adjustment period that sometimes happens when sleeping on a new mattress. Only complaint about the original recliners is my foot/recliner lever doesn't always work. When the time comes, it will be replaced with a Lazy Boy.
  16. I HATE checking tire pressures on my duals. With my TST system, I no longer have to on any tire. When I initially installed them, I was VERY careful to inflate to the correct pressure as shown on a KNOWN good gauge. Once I installed the TPMS sensors, I wrote down the reading. Regardless of what that showed, I KNEW it was a good baseline reading. Now when I get in my truck, I only have to mess with tire air pressure if the reading is below my comfort level...which isn't very often. Only negative is the sensors seem to restrict airflow so I remove them to add the air. Minor issue, but still a PITA. And, I had one blowout and 2 flats on previous 5ers BEFORE I added TPMS. The blowout would not have been detected. The 2 flats would have and I could have found a safe place to change the tires instead of along the side of I-75 for one and a back road for the other.
  17. Consider what repairs/replacements the house may need in the next 5+ yrs; new roof, new air con, new appliances, etc. If you're not sure, maybe spend $300 for a professional home inspector to inspect and give you a written report. If you decide to sell, you could use the info to fix things that need fixing prior to listing the house. Our house will be listed next Monday. I have strongly considered renting. Nearly every realtor I interviewed has someone in their office who is their rental coordinator. Realtor told me I could easily rent my house to cover the mortgage. Wouldn't have much extra for monthly profit, but someone else would be paying my mortgage. Then I remembered the home inspector's report from when I re-fied a few years ago. If the inspector's crystal ball is accurate, within 8 yrs the house will need a new roof ($15+K), and new air con (~$7K) and I have a feeling at least a new dishwasher and fridge (~$2K combined). Plus, I have no intentions of coming back to this house and the wife is definitely not interested in coming back. So selling makes the most sense for us.
  18. I had a brand new Heartland Cyclone. It felt good at the show, but once we started using it, the comfort went away and the plethora of problems arrived. Got rid of it in a year. Best move I ever made. The cost was worth it.
  19. I prefer to use chat. But, more than once the Dish rep refused to change the locals based only on zip code. They wanted a street address. Didn't matter if I told them I was parked in a field with no street address, they insisted. I once used "123 Any Street", then the town, state and zip. I KNOW they can just go by zip code and I told them I knew it. Didn't matter. This happened on weekend evenings. I guess the "B" team was working then. Never had a problem if I did it in the afternoon.
  20. No, I don't. Didn't have one in any of the 3 RVs I have owned.
  21. By "tall" model, do you mean the 18" toilet? Or is there a taller one than that? Sprayer or no sprayer? I would worry about the sprayer hose popping off when driving and then water squirting all over the place one hooked up at an RV park...at least until I noticed the wet floor.
  22. Check with your insurance agent before you buy.
  23. Oh man, you aren't kidding!! I'm more than 10 yrs from TFL eligibility, but have several non-mil friends who are over 65. When they talk about their health insurance costs, I just bite my tongue and feel bad for them. Their insurance, plus co-pays, plus supplements to cover them is, in some cases, $500 a month.
