  1. Two "refusals" to see future replies, all in ONE thread. LOL. Gotta wonder when the Admins will follow their own Rule #6?
  2. I was never able to take the original Shingles shot due a medication conflict. Now I can take the Shingrix and have taken one shot. I need to schedule the second before we hit the road for the summer.
  3. Yep, you're right. I failed to read your full link and only read the bit you quoted which did not include Kansas. My bad.
  4. Most credible sources say the vaccines work within limits. No vaccine that I am aware of is 100% effective. If there are folks that refuse a vaccine I see that as their choice and that Darwin then should deal the cards.
  5. That is what I said. If someone was stopped by police it is conceivable that they could question why you had not changed registration. Oh, and Kansas has a county sticker on the plate as well.
  6. KIrk, I suggest you look again. The sticker which is in the windshield on a vehicle or on the plate of a trailer does have the county listed. For example:
  7. True on the dry climate. When we lived in Colorado Springs we had a big window swamp cooler in a spare bedroom that was rarely used as it was frigid in that room. The rest of house was nice and cool, in fact, our next door neighbor with central air always complained that our house was always cooler than his. A swamp cooler does not use that much water, I would actually be surprised if it used more than 2 or 3 gallons per hour which is a miniscule amount when compared to bathing, dish and clothes washing and outdoor use such as lawn watering. I doubt it would be enough to tip you up a tier like they charged us in Colorado Springs. All that said I truly can not visualize using one in an RV, even a small window unit unless the RV is stationary long term.
  8. What are you preparing us to vote for? 😀
  9. That is true, and while it is a separate program the COOPs still advertise for their waiting lists. In all honesty I had forgotten all about the ERPU program until this thread.
  10. Very interesting Joel. What brand and model did you get if you don't mind me asking. After reading the article I looked at a couple of systems and they seem too tall to install in the basement of the RV.
  11. You mean like "Canaveral is in Florida"? You make these observations but you don't seem to be an engineer or architect. So when it comes to someone pointing out that something different can be done you circle up your little wagon and attempt to belittle the poster. I have to wonder who is the nit picker and chooses to argue endlessly. 😉
  12. Canaveral is in Florida. Really? Who'da thunk. It is also right on the coast and in an area that gets tropical storms and hurricanes. In fact, all the buildings there are built to survive a Cat 3 hurricane. Big buildings, even factories, can be designed and built to be hurricane resistant probably right up to Cat 5 depending on how much one wants to spend on the construction.
  13. I think SpaceX is playing the odds game. According to huricanecity.com Brownsville is on a downward trend for tropical storms and hurricanes. As far as building right on the coast, let's not forget Cape Canaveral.
  14. And in some cases they can be permanently excused. We had a friend who while Scottish by birth was a US citizen due to marriage to a US Navy sailor. When he passed she lived with us for several years and got a Colorado drivers license. She never got called while in Colorado but once she moved back to Scotland to care for her elderly parents they called her up. Go figure. On her behalf, I informed the court that she was currently living in Scotland with intent to return to the US unknown and I provided them her address. She received a letter saying that she was permanently removed from the juror lists and would receive no further summonses to jury duty.
  15. Interesting question that I can't answer. I just know that we had to get the vehicles inspected and tagged prior to getting a DL. I would suppose there might be some other route to a DL but I am not sure what it would be. To me it felt backwards. Other places we have lived was get your DL and then you had so much time to get the vehicles tagged.
  16. They do still have some room, but since it is a sellers market they are not likely to negotiate as they will have plenty of folks looking to buy.
  17. When we got our Texas residency the proof of domicile was easy. The tags on the vehicles, which you have to have before getting drivers license, counted as one. Two was proof of insurance from a Texas insurance agency, insurance is required by law. We had a backup as well in the rental agreement for a storage unit here in Texas. Vehicle tags were easy and the DL was almost as easy leaving aside the long wait to get it due to COVID.
  18. I think some of it depends on the dealer if they will negotiate or not. When we bought our current RV we were able to negotiate a price. However, the dealer was starting that process from near MSRP. We are currently in the process of purchasing a new RV and the dealer has already priced the RVs at 25% below MSRP, therefore they are not negotiating.
  19. As KIrk pointed out, in Texas the juror pool is picked from registered voters, people with Driver Licenses or ID cards, so even if you did not register to vote you could still get picked. Being on a jury is a Constitutional obligation (see the 6th Amendment) so if one wants to enjoy the rights given in the Constitution then one should be prepared to take on the obligations as well. You would not be the only one that jury duty causes a financial hardship, I would say that anyone other the someone that is unemployed, could make the same claim. I never had difficulty being excused from jury duty when I presented a reasonable explanation for the request.
  20. They already offered to buy out the few residents of Kopernick Shores which is the actual village at 3 times their appraised value. Some took the deal while others claimed it wasn't enough. Now SpaceX will have to resort to eminent domain which I am pretty sure Cameron County will go along with as it will be a massive infusion into the tax base there. And just to clarify my confusion, is there another Tesla factory in Austin besides the Gigafactory?
  21. I wasn't saying that at all. What I was saying was (in so many words) that the best engineering still needs tweaks from real life usage. There has NEVER been a product sold that the initial design was perfect! I am all for this and am signed up for it. I want it to succeed and the sooner the better! I do think that once this is up and running that land based internet will have to decrease the prices or Elon will take over the internet. 😄
  22. Excellent idea! I do not think there are many naysayers over the concept but I do hope the equipment execution will improve. Your are probably exactly right!!
