  1. Hope you do better than the "Wichita Lineman" (still on the line) getting it done! .
  2. Are you sure the seals are leaking? - *If* your valve/s are either electric -or- (most likely) actuated by a remote pull - make sure the cable is not the culprit. After lots of pushes and pulls - there may be slack or a kink. Replace the cable, and bingo! OK - so that's not the problem. - be ready for cramped working space where the valve is located. ...as well as extra work if you choose to replace the entire valve (rather than the parts). Been there, done that - real PITA, Great.reason to check the cable, etc. - As posters noted - dielectric silicone is a good idea also. Another option - as posted.....add a "secondary" valve somewhere close to the end of the 3" drain. There's also a "must carry" Valterra twist-on valve to use at the slinky connection (about $15) as an emergency back-up. ......not a fun chore!...😕....might be worth letting RV repair do it. Good luck......"down under" !! .
  3. Along with many others, I tow with a short bed pickup. I have towed my 5th with a short bed, SRW, 1T, QC, CTD, Dodge Ram since 2005. Yes, I do have a PullRite SG (slider) hitch. Tows great, no problems, no issues - and I have had a long bed previously. I would never go back to a long bed - but that's my preference. So, "griffinmike" - tow with whatever YOU prefer - and/or choose to believe. ~
  4. Instead of offering my opinion (or what I have) - Try this for a recommendation: Go on the HDT forum (the majority *DO* have sleepers). They are either tandem (two sets of "duallys", or singled = a dually just like your F350. They tow heavy 5th wheels. There are plenty of folks who have used their ERS - as well as those who have done extensive research. Asking is.....free...😉 .
  5. Sent you a PM. HDTs and MDTs don't have "beds" like a pickup. - and for sure no "camper cap" or shell. Although they may also have a pickup for other chores. Try RV.net - with your question - or- one of the Dodge (Ram) Diesel Truck forums, such as TDR (Turbo Diesel Register), etc. You'll easily find lots of advice and solutions for Fido! .
  6. Bigfooted ?? - Even the Yeti gets a bad rap !! Asians are OK - it's the Ornamentals that must be avoided. - Especially if you see 5 or more in an RV. New Zealand?? - The people are OK too - but stop using "Ki-Wi" polish on your shoes & boots! It might put a new hue on you. BTW - If it's ... "Polish" ....some might say it's from Poland - so.....better avoid Poles! Ditto on the 5 or more in an RV. .
  7. *Corona* HO- virus is preventable! - Switch meds! - Vaccinate with Dos XX, 805, Lone Star, Michelob - or others for "prevention". "Big Daddy" Roth (& Vern) would tell ya.... It's the year of the RAT. - Don't get RF'd !! - Stay away from Ornamental cuisine! 😉
  8. Not necessary to "form a group" - or be the "organizer" of/for the potential members. Even if it's folks you know - if one drops out, you will acquire a new member (most likely instantly) - that you *don't* know. Of course, they don't know you -and vice versa- and only billing knows who you are. Bottom line, not worth the trouble to form a group. However, a group grope -and the results- will make interesting reading! .
  9. Performs as posted. Go on the reddit forum for more details. Put an ID on there to start a party,, and about two hours later it was a done deal. ("Party time"). Haven't bothered to add a router as yet. .
  10. Yeah - stay away from them Asians, Vern! The Ornamentals too! Since your "thinking" generated lots of *flu* discussion - how about those of us old enough to remember who got *polio* and who did not - (and maybe the reason/s why) - before we received our sugar cube "fix"? . .
  11. Depends on where (in CA) you are..... In the So. Cal sections of I-5 you could be on his tailgate and cars and pickups (of all sorts) would try to slide in between you and your "navigator". So, I'll pass on your "sandwich technique" when I'm towing. Two wheel traffic normally flows at 75-80 (speed limit = 65), truckers will be at 65-68 mp (speed limit = 55). However, you don't want to be the "point man" in your Civic or Benz at 85, LOL. I've been on (both the I-5 and 405) where a pickup (or) will be towing a boat or trailer in the 3rd lane out from the shoulder (supposed to be limited to the first two) at 65-70mph - - as well as a guy doing same in the HOV lane (not legal) for 20 some miles - thinking he's bound to get a "greetings" from the CHP - but his luck held, eventually made his move and took an off ramp. Ponch and John can't be everywhere! .
  12. A "heads up" on Remco info - when looking up a vehicle to tow "as is" = 4 down. AWD = All Wheel Drive FWD = Front Wheel Drive... (*not* four wheel drive) My 2016 GMC Terrain (6 cyl or 4 cly) "FWD" can be towed 4-down. The AWD models can not. Haven't looked up the newer models. The Chev Equinox should be the same - however, in 2016 the six cyl Equinox was *only* available with All Wheel Drive. (I wanted a six cyl = why I went with the Terrain). As others posted - check owner's manual & Remco. Don't rely on a salesperson. .
  13. After all the "shady" dealings Wells Fargo was involved in/with - (Google: " Wells Fargo Account Fraud Scandal") - they would see me only ONE more time at the door of one of their branches - as I was leaving.... after I closed all my accounts..🙁 Why are Credit Unions better? - " Credit Unions are owned and operated by the people that use them. That's why they're dedicated to the things that really matter to you!" IF I used Wells Fargo, the Dec 2018 settlement WF agreed to - of $575 mil affecting all 50 states in wake of the Fake Accounts - would REALLY matter to me also! (But maybe that's just "me") BTW- I use plastic also (as Kirk indicated), pay my monthly bill (in full) via auto pay from the CU. Of course the CU has its own (Master Card) plastic available, but without the percentage rebate. When I (rarely) use a teller at a branch office of the CU, I have NEVER waited in line. They always have more tellers available. Also, ALL the teller and customer assistants must have had prior experience at another institution. .
  14. You've got it all wrong....she's looking for a.....Single Make - Coach Owner. The owner who *still has* the 1970 Winnebago purchased in 1970. If the $$ not spent (by upgrading) over the years, was invested wisely, the owner could be very wealthy! Both of 'em - the coach & the owner - are still out there! 😉
  15. "The service plan has unlimited voice, text and data for $40 a month on the Verizon network." The Party Plan reduces that $40. a month - - to $25 per month. The 3 others on your party plan (or you on theirs) do not know each other, or how to contact each other (your phone number/s remains private). You are billed individually. If a member drops out, no problem to add another. (Reddit forum will assist with adding members, or joining a party). http://www.reddit.com/r/VisiblePartyPay .
  16. If you belong to a Credit Union where you live *now*......you can continue to use it (if you wish). Most CUs belong to a national network. That allows you to use CUs (and CU ATMs with your '"home" ATM Card) across the US. Ask your current CU. You should be able to find a CU (or a CU ATM) on the web during your travels. Besides getting cash (w/o any fees) - some CU ATMs accept deposits also. .
  17. The telescoping ladder "Mesa" posted would be a good alternative. Just remember, the old (FD) saying when lowering a ladder with sections: Fingers and Toes! For the telescoping ladders - you only need worry about......"FINGERS!" Be sure to have (careful) "practice sessions" - no matter which one you choose! .
  18. A bit off topic: 30 yr FF here. Don't trust a/the "built in" (factory) ladder which comes on many RVs - especially 5th wheels! Very bad "climbing angle". However, it is useful for a "tie off" at the top (on one side) for your telescoping (or?) ladder. BTW - the city I worked for had a Little Giant among the ladder "choices" on our Truck (Ladder) Companies, long before Werner was available. (And *no* "telescoping" ladders, LOL.) .
  19. The 12V blanket would be good.......lots of choices on Amazon - reasonable $. There are several brands of (110V) electric "throws" - 115 watts, 3 heat settings. - - On the "high" setting after about 10 minutes on top of your blanket/s - you are *really* ready to turn it to a lower setting!! - - IIRC - ours came from Wally at about $30. ~
  20. Looks like a good choice! Not much $ "at risk" to give it a try. .
  21. Will they last? - Only time will tell... '05 Dodge (Ram 1T 5.9 CTD here) . *If* I were to buy a new pickup, no matter which brand - it would be a gasser - no def (& related system) req'd - or desired! *If *I wanted a heavier 5th than I have now - AND I thought the large displacement gas engines weren't capable (or I needed a dually) - - I would bite the def bullet, BUT you would find me on the HDT forum! ~
  22. NO need for *YOU* to "round up" other party members! Or - to try to keep your/a party "organized". Go to the above link - if party member drops out, a new one will join. Your billing info is not shared with the other party members. .
  23. Don't have one - but your post deserves a... "Bump"" !! ~
  24. Yep - CA does a "gotcha" if you register *during* the non-op time. Pay for the full year. Unless you need the vehicle ASAP, you wait until the registration is due (for the next full year). Something strange about the registration when your friends moved to TX! (Were they "officially TX residents?). Did the same with vehicles registered in South Dakota. No problems when re-registering (two vehicles) in CA. Even ended up with the same Driver's License number I had since I was 15 1/2 yrs old (I was 68 at that time, LOL). Something everyone should remember about DMVs everywhere........they may be *wrong*!! Also, it's good to know....... CA DMV has a form for *everything* !! YOU must "be prepared to ask". Pretty amazing about computer "connections" between the states! When getting my SD Driver's License - the guy noted I had previously had a CDL (even though I had given that up about 10 years prior!). Wanted to know if I wanted it again. Back in CA - I needed to add Restriction 41 (5th wheel under 15,000 pds). They had no clue what I was talking about - tried to give me a Class A Non commercial test, the MH test.....had to "teach" them all the way. At least 3 different employees! Of course, adding that meant also taking the Class C, and M1 (MC) license tests. No big deal....but then- ........ after scoring the tests (100%), I was watching the guy printing out my "temp" DL - he was printing out a temp for a Non-Commercial Class A. After I clued him in to his error - he had to start over. By comparison - South Dakota was a 10 minute "pleasure", CA was the same old, same old - for about an hour (even with an appointment). BTW - a friend has several antique vehicles. If you find a year specific license plate, you can have the DMV issue it as your "everyday" plate for the antique car - *unless* the number is still active. A friend (he was well aware of that) went to his local DMV. They said it couldn't be none, no way, no how. He simply went to a different DMV. Accomplished easily, no grief. It is what it is. 😉
  25. Advice based on California Laws - should NOT be offered. Apples to Oranges!! The OP is in Texas, has received good advice FOR TEXAS. Why would I say that? CA vehicle owners have the option of filing a certificate of Non Operation. $15 the first year, no charge after that. The vehicle may not be "on the road". When (if) the owner wishes to register it, you (only) pay the registration fees due for the current year. HOWEVER - "Non-OP' does *NOT* apply to trailers! (Including Mobile Homes). Failure to pay annual registration, will result in past year's fees being due - regardless of who pays them when ownership transfers. (Buyer beware! - but "who pays" can be negotiated). BTW - My '68 Camaro and two Triumph M/Cs are on Non Operation status. I receive an annual renewal notice - which indicates "This is not a bill", and the normal registration fee for the year to register them *if* I wish to do so. ~
