  1. It is interesting technology. I'm assuming that it doesn't affect the engine by increasing any backpressure.
  2. Because once you buy that auto shift... you won't have a glare supply anymore..... at least from the shifting issue....
  3. So the last 5 days have been on the road.... Greenville SC to Nashville Tn for 3 days, then up to Platte City Ks for an overnight (599 miles..... not recommended), then finally Sioux Falls today. Plenty of upshifts, downshifts around and thru cities.... floated the gears with the jake brake on without grinding any..... Come off the interstate at our exit in Sioux Falls, up the ramp- stop at the light, float down to 2nd, light turns green and I come off the clutch a little too hard.... STALLED IT.... on an uphill.... which y'all might know is a little violent in the shaking department.... The next 2.5 miles to the campground had 6 lights.... couldn't find a gear to save myself..... The glare from the passenger seat needs to be bottled and sold....
  4. Cory, What we have in our book are the state statues that allow your truck on the road as a non commercially regulated vehicle. We have those nicely highlighted. So on the cover is a pic of the truck and trailer connected in travel mode. Inside the front in a is our registration card (Truck is titled as a Motorhome) in a plastic paper shield thing that you put the paper in then attach the holes thru the binder rings.... Next is insurance- Truck, RV, Smart Car- all the current year Next is the main South Dakota state statue that gives the description of the vehicle, after that are some of the sub statues that are relevant. Also included are the South Dakota drivers license requirements for our truck. That one is important when a local county DOT enforcement officer thinks he has a book of tickets to write you. I also keep a current DOT inspection in the book. Usually just the current year, but shows that the truck is in safe operating condition (At least at one time) We keep a copy of the truck title showing how its registered in SD. That generally covers it.
  5. Either your dash valve is leaking or the relay valve that feeds the airlines to the brake cans may have an issue. I have antilock on the rear axle of our old Volvo, but I've never had an issue with the truck rolling with the park brake set. I'd chock the wheels, and release the brakes and carefully crawl under the back and check the pad clearance. I had 1 automatic adjuster that didn't adjust all the time.
  6. I've missed an upshift on our manual and had to stop and start over..... could not find a gear at all to keep rolling forward... Folks behind made all kinds of funny waves as they went around....
  7. Thank you! As soon as I read about using a 7-way cable, I figured a terminal strip would work. Putting on in the enclosure would be nice.
  8. Don't know about that.... Class A tag axle pulled in next to us. Gentleman driving finally got out carrying his O2 concentrator and using a walker.... his wife couldn't leave the RV without a ramp.
  9. I hadn't thought about using a standard 7-way type connector. How did you wire from the individual camera cables to the 7pin? Thanks Chad,
  10. In 2014, I installed a 4 camera system on our 5th wheel and 1 camera on the truck. The connector cable was similar to the pic below but is was a 3 camera system on the RV. I have replaced 2 of the coil cables and spliced in a 6-way round plug and receptacle. The last cable got chewed recently by squirrels or birds and I need a replacement that is more durable than what's shown below. Suggestions?
  11. Got my PB Blaster ready, and a little acetone and hydraulic fluid mixed as well. It's gotta dry out enough here that I don't drown under the truck...
  12. And if you plan on taping all those holes to secure the deck plates, Tap Magic works great.
  13. I'm running into the lack of parts/empty supply chain in my job as well. Once I figure out exactly what I need I'll source all I can locally if the price allows. Not crawling under this rig for a few days at least, with a week of rain/ice, the ground is a wee bit wet... We have tried hard to stay away from driving when roads have been sprayed. Maybe 1000 miles since 2014 and have always kept the undercarriage washed as much as possible. We're just happy that we were able to pass along a way that helps to spend your children's inheritance!
  14. Have the tires spin balanced on the truck. That will help balance out an drum issue as well.
  15. Who is Mr???? Thanks for the layout pic, that actually helps. Their prices are on the higher side but it is stainless.... decisions.... Any idea how long an aluminized system will last?
  16. If you If you can get a hot water salt water brine into the tank it will help thaw the ice out. Use a lot of salt. The other idea is to get a hair dryer aimed at the lower pipe and valve where it leaves the belly area. It takes time to thaw it.
  17. That's what I'm planning on doing.. Most Volvo dealers are higher than buying the parts if their generic, and having an old Cummins engine sometimes confuses the young parts counter guys... The only thing Parrformance left out was the turbo exhaust piece for Cummins... and I need to see what hangers are under mine. Easier to replace with the same type hanger than trying a new style mount.
  18. Ok, so our exhaust piping is officially Holy.... most shops where we are are quoting $1000+ to replace from turbo back- either into a weedburner or a single stack. What are some sources that I can order pipe, clamps and hangers from?
  19. While I don't have an electronic max speed limiter, mine is more phyics... I can run MAX RPM in 10th gear in Montana and just break the interstate car speed limit (80) but stay within what a trooper will actually pull you over. Now the "Truck" commercial limit is still 70. But I'm a RV ...... and that's my story and I'm stickin to it.
  20. Go with a 3/8" air hose. Trying to fill or top off tires with a 1/4" 50ft hose is time consuming.
  21. Y'all need to fix that fence up there.... those 3 strands of barbwire are letting too much cold air escape south....
  22. My wife Alie was a Hospice nurse for a long time. In NC the nurse can pronounce the deceased and call the funeral home. At night and on weekends I used to drive her and became a hospice volunteer so I could go inside and help if needed (HIPPA). There were a few patients that were of the large size, and never on the first floor. The funeral home pick up guys had stories that were hilarious when told privately of course....
