  1. I would not do as FL-Joe has suggested and work camp or work for cash because if you don’t report your cash earnings you would be committing tax fraud. Workcamping is not the same as volunteering. I’m surprised someone would even suggest that.
  2. You will owe income tax in any State you receive income in regardless of where you domicle. As Kirk already stated all three States, FL, SD and TX do not have State income tax but unlike FL-Joes statement you will have to file a return in any State where you earn income regardless of where you choose to Domicle. I don’t know anything about FL or TX but in SD there are not many health insurance options for anyone under 65 not on Medicare.
  3. Campgroundreviews.com is a good site to find campgrounds or freecampsites.net for boondocking.
  4. I’m not sure about TX but when I lived in Calif you could file a Non-Op when the vehicle was off the road and in storage. When you wanted to return it to the road you would just reregisture it then. TX may not have this option?
  5. When that happens I usually join their group and drink their beer. Lol lol lol 😆
  6. I never drink in the shower because soapy water gets in my cup.
  7. Just remember in CA if you are towing anything the speed limit is 55 MPH.
  8. I use the Escapees So Dakota address. I am a fulltimer. When I bought my Class A I had no problem with the bank. My loan is with Bank of the Ozarks. The selling dealer arranged the loan for me. A friend of mine was selling his house and got the loan, not sure what bank, before he closed escrow. Then he went and picked up his new Class A after the sale closed and used the proceeds for his down payment. Like Kirk said, if you use a financial institution near Livingston, most know Escapees. Another option is to use a financial institution that specializes in RV loans like Bank of theWest or Essex.
  9. Looks ok for a college dormitory or military housing. Not where I would want to live. Even in college I rented my own apartment.
  10. I do not have homeowners insurance but do have 3 landloard policies, like homeowners, on each of my rental properties, bundled with my RV, Jeep and Harley policies all covered with an umbrella. May the OP has rental property too.
  11. Not all insurance companies will write fulltime coverage. Many times it depended on what State you are registured in. I use the Escapees SD mailing address. Some that said NO are State Farm, Liberty Mutual and their subsidiary Safeco, Hartford thru AARP. They would not write fulltime coverage in SD. For many years I had Allied a subsidiary of Nationwide thru Miller Insurance, a broker and Escapee commercial partner but they doubled their premium. I switched to Geico and saved a lot of $$$. Stay away from Allstate and Farmers. But Formost a subsidiary of Farmers is good. Progressive is so so. Had a lot of problems with claims with them when I practiced law. SAME WITH AAA too many claims problems. Make sure you get a fulltimers policy which includes personal liability when you are parked and not moving as well as personal contents coverage. Many say they are fulltime but don’t cover you when parked. I have my RV, Jeep, Harley, 3 rentals, and an umbrella with Geico. Geico brokers the rental policies thru Travelers.
  12. Go on campgroundreviews.com, click on Michigan, and click on a city. You will find many reviews of local campgrounds. Also check freecamping.net for free and low cost campgrounds, most located in city or county parks, casinos, rest stops etc.
  13. I love it when cops think they know the law and are wrong. The Patriot Act expired in 2011 and was replaced by the USA freedom Act which expires this year 2019. The Freedom Act is different and is not the Patriot Act.
  14. The Patriot Act expired several years ago. It is Schwabs nternal policy they are quoting but the rank and file employes don’t know the difference.
  15. I got a handheld Cobra. It has a small rubber antenna and also came with an external magnetic mount antenna for longer reach. It has rechargeable batteries and a 12v adapter plug. I use it mostly for when I go Jeeping because often there is no cell signal and you can communicate with more than one Jeep if all have a CB and are on the same channel. I have tried it in the RV a few times but it doesn’t seem to be used by many others. I could never get a response to my radio check nor did I hear many useful conversations. It may be handy if traveling with several others in a caravan of RVs.
  16. I know lots of people travel in their RV with a motorcycle. I have one for sale that would be great for that. It’s a 2009 HD Fat Boy. I am the original owner, it’s always been garaged. I had the dealer install a 103ci Kit, and a HD Race Tuner ECM. I installed 2 into 1 Thunderheader exhaust. It’s been in storage so I just installed a brand new battery. Tires are in great condition. It’s runs great and I have a clear title. I hate to sell it, someone’s gonna get a great deal on this. I am asking $11,995. I am in Nampa ID. Just PM me for more info. Tried to upload a picture but don’t know how. I can email you one if interested.
  17. Your Escapees SD address is not a P.O. Box, which stands for Post Office Box, it is a PMB which stands for Personal Mail Box which is different and is your legal address recognized by the State of So Dakota and is listed on your drivers liscense. The campground or hotel address is just for proof that you stayed one night in the State. Just list your Escapees address on the form. If it is wrong they will let you know.
  18. I filled out mine at the time I renewed my vehicle registration in Aug 2016. I just happened to be there in person and was not doing the renewal by mail. I asked for an absentee ballot. That was for the last election in Nov 2016 and my ballot was sent to my SD Escapees address in Box Elder.
  19. Yes. The pump began to run while I was filling. I let it run for a minute and then shut it back off. It seemed to fill faster with it on but I was afraid I might damage the pump so I shut it back off.
  20. Not sure if I am supposed to turn on the water pump when I fill my fresh water tank using the city water. I have always left the pump off unless I am not hooked up and therefore need to use the pump to draw from the fresh water tank. When hooked up I always leave the pump off. This morning while filling the tank I accidentally bumped the pump switch and turned it on and I think the tank filled faster. What does everybody do, pump off or on?
  21. Couch Net has good reviews but is expensive. Escapees had about a dozen parks and about a dozen Co-Op parks for around $25 a night. Plus there are private parks that give a 10% discount and some as much as 50% off for Escapees members. There are other benefits as well such as a mail forwarding service for about $100 per year. FMCA also uses Safe Ride has campground discounts, tire and glass discounts, and a mail forwarding service. I ajoined Escapees and use their mail forwarding service. I also joined FMCA and got Safe Net thru them and have used the tire and glass programs. I have seen many negitive reviews about Good Sam RA.
  22. I don’t stay at many KOAs because of the price. The few I have stayed at recently have been run down. I think the KOA system has lowered their standards but not their price.
  23. Dave, a fulltimer I met several winters ago while staying at the Escapees Co-Op in Benson AZ happens to be spending his summer in the same campground as I am in near Bosie ID. This morning he helped me install new footpads on my landing jacks and install my new set of Snap Pads. A shout out of thanks to a fellow Escapee.
