  1. That was an auto correct mistake. I will be in Gulf Shores AL from 11/01 till 12/01 and then Davenport FL 12/01.
  2. docj I am in Caldwell ID a suburb of Bosie and I have DirecTv. My sat is locked onto LG DTV SWM3 101, 99 and 103.
  3. Some, not all, Elks Lodge have water. Some rest stops have a dump station and water. If your in a bind some campgrounds may let you fill for a small fee. Escapee Parks and Co-Ops will let you boondock for a small few and it includes sewer and water use at the dump station in the park.
  4. When I had my fifth wheel I got rid of the China bombs it came with and went with Mitchelin XPS Ribs. Excellent tire, with a reinforced side wall. They are not cheep but five years later when I traded it in for my Class A they still looked new.
  5. Global warming is a natural reaccuring event that happens about every 100 years. About every 500 years it is stronger that usual. 500 years ago in the 1500s people in Northern Europe were experiencing colder than usual temperatures. Farming in Europe was affected. The Vikings headed south in search of warmer temperatures. We are now at that 500 year cycle. Human footprint has exasperated the condition somewhat but it is still a part of nature. It has nothing to do with politics.
  6. FL-Joe. Where in AL and FL will you be spending the winter? I will be in Gold Poer AL for Nov and Davenport FL starting Dec.
  7. I am originally from San Diego. My first two years of RV life I returned home for the winter and traveled the summer. I put my rig in storage for the winter. The storage in San Diego was about $250 a month. In my third year I decided to rent out my house rather than leave it vacant for six months. I have been going to Phoenix for the winters. This year I’m going to FL. My plan is to find a place in AZ or FL to purchase in an RV Resort in about five years and travel in the summers. I am the opposite of a snow bird.
  8. Thanks for all of your replies. The mobil tech has not yet called me back. I will give home a call again on Mon. For now I’m just running on city water. When I have more info I will repost.
  9. Well I crawled underneath the rig with the water fill switch activated I can see the water leaking out of a plastic tube that is hanging. It must be the fill line to the tank. No water leaks when the lever is in the city mode. I can’t reach it to reattach. Called a mobil repair guy. Waiting for his return call, should be a simple fix, just reattach the hose and clamp it down. Don’t know why this affects the pump not being able to reach pressure since it’s not a vacuum system between the tank and the fill hose.
  10. Thanks Kirk. I thought of that so I went outside and switched the lever from city water to fill tank, with the pump off, thinking that maybe my fresh water tank gage was off and the tank was empty and not full. I saw water running underneath the middle of my rig. It is raining but I don’t think it was rain water, so I believe I have a leaky hose on my between the water filter and the tank. After it stops raining I will look at it again and crawl underneath. Everything works fine on City water and the pump runs but no water on the pump so that leak may be the cause.
  11. I thought the same thing. I have DirecTv and when I relocate to a different city I just change my locals. Won’t I still be able to get my local ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox channels?
  12. The Escapees Co-Op in Benson has a storage lot. Also last winter I stayed at Sunflower RV Resort (a Cal-Am Resort) in Surprise AZ, suburb of Phoenix. They had a storage lot too.
  13. I have a 2015 Itasca Ellipse 42QD. I am in a campground with FHU. Before I arrived 2 months ago I boondocked a couple of nights on my way and used the fresh water tank. When I got here I topped off the fresh water tank. I am leaving in a couple of weeks. I turned off the city water at the connection and turned on the pump. It’s been awhile since I used the fresh water tank and I wanted to use it up and refill with fresh water before leaving. I can hear the pump running but no water at any faucet. I know it is supposed to get up to pressure and stop running but it just keeps running. Everything worked fine before, nothings changed. Don’t know why the pump is not reaching pressure. The fresh water level indicator reads a full tank. Everything works fine on City water.
  14. Also, none of the mail service companies I know of in SD actually own any RV sites while Escapees do have physical sites in both TX & FL. Kirk, Americas Mail Box in Box Elder, near Rapid City, does have a campground.
  15. I never use the words PMB when someone asks for my address. I just say #xyz as if it’s an apartment number but now the Post Office has most PMB addresses in their computer database and has tagged them as a commercial address or mail forwarding service.
  16. Another popular saying. “You can put lipstick on a pig and it’s still a pig.”
  17. Kirk, I did plug in my Garmin into the computer via the USB cable supplied but it did not connect to Garmin because the computer, which was in the visitor room of the RV Park, did not have Garmin Express. When I Googled Garmin I got the imposter web site. The imposter had me download Garmin Express to the Parks computer, so all looked kosher until he wanted $99.99 to registure my Garmin. That’s when I hung up and called Garmin using the phone number on my documents that came with the box. Now that the official Garmin has updated the software on my unit via Garmin Express, I do not need to connect to a computer. I only need to click on settings on my GPS, click on update maps, and connect to WiFi to update my maps. I guess the weak link in the chain was that the computer I was using did not already have the the Garmin Express app installed. I needed to update the software on my GPS in order to update my maps via WiFi. My Mac Book also had older Mac software and would not update my Garmin, that’s why I was using the Parks computer.
  18. Kirk, I just found it on Fox News also.
  19. Kirk, I just Googled “Camping World closing stores” and found the article. It’s on a site called Market Watch.
  20. Yes 2gypsies it is Gander. I made a mistake. Kirk I saw the article online. it may have been CNN but can’t remember for sure.
  21. I saw on the news yesterday that the CEO of CW, Marcos, announced that they are going to concentrate on RV sales and service and get out of the outdoor side of products. However my local CW told me that they were dropping the name Camping World and were rebranding to Garner Outdoor, now that CW bought out the bankrupt Garner. The article said that CW was closing several hundred stores. Maybe they are just changing the name on several stores because of the negitive view of CW and those stores keeping the CW name will just be RV dealers and those stores changing to Garner will sell outdoor equipment.
  22. Not sure about all models but the 770 can update maps without being plugged into a computer. You just go to settings and click on update maps, it will ask you to connect to WiFi. My software was too old a version and I had to plug into a computer to update the software before I could update the maps. Garmin told me that Camping World units are often sitting in a warehouse for a long time and this is why my software was the older version. I just was unlucky and got a imposter web site when I tried to contact Garmin. Thankfully I had their real phone number in my paperwork.
  23. B F Goodrich All Terain in my opinion are the best truck tires out there. Make sure you get the KO2 model. I think they may even have the KO3 now. I always had them on my Ford F-350. I now have a Jeep Wrangler and get the BF Goodrich Mud Terain. A little harder and noiser ride but good for a Jeep going off road. If you want to save a little money they also make the Rugged Terain.
  24. I have a Garmin 770 RV LMT with free lifetime maps. I got it last year at Camping World. Went to update the maps and the unit would not connect to WiFi. I went online and Googled Garmin, clicked on their Customer Service link, called the toll free number, and got a guy on the phone who had a heavy Indian accent. I asked him if he was in India and he said no, I’m in Florida. We talked about the hurricane and then he asked my for my email address, phone number and the serial number of my Garmin. He said I had not registured my unit and he would do it for me but there was a fee of $99.99. I told him that I had free lifetime updates. He insisted I had to pay. I hung up and got out my paperwork from the box the unit came in. Found another phone number for Garmin. Called it and was told to press 1 for auto, 2 for boat etc, 7 for RV related items. A man answered and I explained to him what happened. He advised me that they have been having problems with Web Sites imposing as Garmin and this was a scam. Their updates are free. He said the the unit I got from CW had real old software and that was why mine would not connect to WiFi. He walked me thru connecting on a desktop and downloading the newer software and maps. It took about 2 to 3 hours. I thought that I was safe since I made the call and didn’t think that the first Web Site number was a fake. So beware of Web Sites imposing as a real companies Web Site, especially for Garmin.
  25. As others have said you first must get an address using a mail forwarding service. Escapees has a SD address you can use. There is also America’s Mail Box in Box Elder near Rapid City and several others near Souix Falls. Just go online and do a search. You can set up your mail online or on the phone. You can registure you vehicles on line, on the phone or via mail. You must go in person to get your drivers liscense and show proof on a one night stay in a hotel or campground anywhere in the State.
